Adrian Alington - The Amazing Test Match Crime https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000... Comedic, gentle mystery from the late 1930s. 14 days left.

The satyrical mystery below was dramatized from a book, but I haven't read the book or listened to the program, and could only find one written review between Goodreads and Amazon (probably because it was apparently originally written in Welsh) so I'm not sure exactly how well it meets the group's parameters. Use your own discretion. And if you do listen, let the rest of us know how it was. :)

This isn't BBC, but since it's basically the same subject (book readings), I'll go ahead and mention it here.

Some of you may be aware of this, but for those who aren't, Audible has made some of its books available for streaming because of the pandemic. The focus is on kids, so most of the selections are kids' books, but there is a "literary classics" section that includes Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Shakespeare's The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Frankenstein, and Moby-Dick, among a number of others. (Also, some C.S. Lewis non-fiction in the Teen section.)

https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

"For as long as schools are closed, we're open. Right now, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids.

All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet."

Abigail (handmaiden) | 199 comments Madam, Will You Talk? by Mary Stewart https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000... 24 days left to listen. Dramatization of a romantic suspense novel written in the 1950s. I believe group members have added at least of couple of Mary Stewart's other books to this group's bookshelf.

Ray Bradbury - The Golden Apples of the Sun https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007... 25 days to listen. Sci-fi short stories; 4 episodes, with two stories per episode.

Agatha Christie's The Lie https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000... One of her (non-crime) stage plays, adapted for radio. 27 days to listen.

Pepys: Fire of London https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01s... Dramatization from Samuel Pepys's diary of the events of the Great Fire of London. 28 days left to listen. Pepys's complete diary covers about ten years and includes his numerous sexual exploits. Since this dramatization is about the Great Fire, I'm guessing it probably doesn't get into his sexual issues, but I have not listened as of yet, so can't say for certain. Use your own discretion. If you do listen, let us know how it is.

Unofficial Rosie https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007... 26 days left. Based on a mystery/thriller by Alan McDonald. I couldn't find out any information on the book from either Goodreads or Amazon reviews, so use your own discretion--and let us know what you thought, if you do listen.

Subsequent episodes each expire a week later than the one before (and the last two aren't even out yet). Abigail (handmaiden) | 199 comments This isn't BBC, but given that the subject is a classic book, I'll go ahead and post here, in addition to the separate thread I made for it:

Christianaudio.com offers a new free download of an audiobook starting the first Friday of each month and available for the whole month. Usually they are nonfiction, but for the month of April the selection is The Pilgrim's Progress, by John Bunyan. The edition is read by Nadia May, unabridged, and 10.5 hours. You need to set up a free account to download. Download is here: https://christianaudio.com/free/ You can listen to a sample of the reading here: https://christianaudio.com/the-pilgri...
