♞ Pat Gent Rules

The hardest part of any pursuit is the planning part. The execution is usually simple once I am able to make a selection from the overwhelming pile of "what I want to read." In a perfect world, I'd read all of them, but there just isn't enough time left to me to do that.

I operate from the principle that "Life is too short to spend it reading a bad book," so I usually will give one a good 25-30 pages and if I just can't get through it, I give it up to the DNF pile.

I play several challenges across GoodReads, but one of the best I've found for helping me FIND books is the Seasonal Reading Challenge. Its quirky tasks, specific and narrow guidelines, and point structure appeals to my competitive nature. I'm usually able to generate a "keep me busy for 3 months" list that I then carry around with me to fill other challenge goals.

I can't wait to see where my travels up Mount Seleya take me on my literary journey for 2020!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) Hi, I just wanted to say that if you do this kind of setup, we can't see when you update because you've already made all of your posts for the year and therefore makes it hard to comment because we don't see when you update a post, only when you make a new one. If you maybe just do the current month and update that throughout the month then make a new post for the next month, update in that post, etc we'll at least see your monthly reads at the end of every previous month/beginning of every new month. Just a suggestion. :)

I totally understand, and I plan to do both. I'm an OCD list keeper, and I like keeping my accomplishments grouped together every month, but I understand that I need to update in this group, so I will definitely do that here as I finish each of my reads. Thanks for looking out for me! :-D

Great read. Definitely worth all the award nods it's gotten, but it's a tough piece of reading. Almost brutal.

I enjoyed this one, but I think the novelty wore off after the first one. Still, the tan suit on the cover is pretty hilarious!
