Clare D (scrapincovers) | 1 comments I just finished “My Brother Sam is Dead” after several sad books and need a happy story. What Newberry should I read next? Thanks! Clare

Sonyajohnston | 12 comments Read first A Long Way from Chicago. ( Newberry honor book). Then read A Year Down Yonder. I just gave two ladies from church A Long Way From Chicago and they both said how much they loved it! I can guarantee you will laugh and cry reading these books. I rarely cried in front of my classroom when I read a book. I did cry reading A Long Way From Chicago. If you read it you’ll know where it happened.

Christopher | 15 comments Some suggestions:

From the Mixed-Up Files of Basil E. Frankweiler by Konigsburg
The Wheel on the School by Meindert DeJong
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin

All of these books are beautifully written and incredibly entertaining.

Linda Martin (lindajm) New Kid... it is a graphic novel, and a lot of fun to read.
