Correct author name

The author name is not according GR in some books

Can someone correct it? Could you tell me how will you do it?

I'm not yet a librarian but I would like to become and according to the manual the author name is not correctly written in the first ones. Is the merge author the appropriate action?

From manual: "To merge two author profiles, edit the data for the profile that should be discarded, "

I've found other wrong spellings for the same author, so now we have five profiles for the same author:

That's a claimed author profile, so it can only be merged into by staff, it's not something librarians can do. We only request a staff merge if the unclaimed profile has followers.

If it were something you were sure was to be merged, and you were able, you would edit the profile name that's to be merged to read the same as the profile to be merged into, and when you go to save it you would be asked if you really wanted to merge those profiles. You would then indicate yes, and they would be combined.

But again, if any of the profiles are claimed GR author profiles, it must be done by staff.

I'm going to combine all the stray profiles and then request staff to merge.

So each time someone spells wrongly the name of an author which have a claimed profile, do we need librarian staff to work on it?

I though it was only in the case of pen names, etc.. but that means lots of work for staff.

Only if the duplicate/incorrect profile has any followers. If there are no followers, the edition(s) can simply have the author names corrected/adjusted to move to the correct profile.

And no librarians are staff, they are only volunteers, so GR support must be contacted to request the profile merge.
