I was intrigued by a similar story of a stolen priceless Stradivarious violin which was found 35 years later by the FBI. The violin had belonged to NPR journalist Nina Totenberg's father, who was a musician. It's also an interesting story. The link to the article is posted above.

Such a bizarre story! I see it as fodder for fiction for years to come. Because it is both unlikely that the true story of the theft and the intervening years will ever be known, and it is just so odd and disjointed.
