Andii (gnu_andrew) | 4 comments I just picked up a copy of this book from the library. It appears to be this edition:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

The cover and page count matches the copy I have, and it does say "Centennial Edition". However, I could only find this via a title search, as the listed ISBN doesn't match the one in the book itself.

The book says:

"I.S.B.N.for this volume: 0 86225 094 3"

which is listed on this page found by a Web search:

https://www.librarything.com/work/196...#

The edition on Goodreads has
1408621401.

Is there any action to be taken here? It seems a shame that this copy won't be found by a ISBN search.

That is not a site we can use for book covers or other book data. Please see: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

However, if this is an edition not yet listed on Goodreads, you can add it by using the data from your book in hand. And a cover image that you photograph or scan from the book you have.

Andii (gnu_andrew) | 4 comments I wasn't suggesting to use that site for anything. I was just illustrating that there is an existing association between the ISBN and this edition of the book.

The problem is that the edition is listed on Goodreads, but with a different ISBN. If I create another edition, I'll effectively be duplicating everything but the ISBN. Is that appropriate?

Renske | 10998 comments A different ISBN makes it a different edition, even if it looks otherwise the same as an other edition.

Andii (gnu_andrew) | 4 comments Ok, I'll create a new edition then. Thanks.
