For some strange reason, mere mortal librarians are not empowered to do so (reason given that the original T.C. Boyle minds his own profile, but I never even tried to tamper with that anyway). Could be made into a change request, any takers?

Cheers, Michael

lethe | 13730 comments Mere mortal librarians, super or no, cannot merge author profiles when one of them is claimed.

This can only be done by staff, so please contact them: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

Sandra | 23760 comments Michael, no librarian not even a super can do anything with a GR author profile.

You need to use the contact form in the group header and ask for the profile to be merged into the GR Author account.

Michael (mwelser) | 193 comments Thank you lethe, thank you Sandra. GR never ceases to surprise me... I found a workaround.

How? The non-claimed profile had followers, the only way to move them to the claimed profile is by merging.

Michael (mwelser) | 193 comments Reassigned the two works in question to "T. Coraghessan Boyle", leaving an empty "T. C. Boyle", and recombined the two with the respective appropriate works there.

I admit, I did not care further about the now "empty" entry or its followers (which, btw, has gone in the meantime)...

lethe | 13730 comments Thanks. Yes, it's strange that it has disappeared. That can only happen with completely empty profiles, which is why profiles with followers and/or quotes should always be referred to staff.

I'm pretty sure that T. C. Boyle had 3 followers, but oh well. (I did find an otherwise empty T.C. Boyle profile with about 20 followers.)
