John Crawford and Larry Eyler, both of them fine upstanding serial killers, have such a rare circumstance in common in their criminal lives that I can hardly believe it happened to 2 people. Can anyone name it?

DING DING DING! Both serial killers were caught in the act of assaulting (Crawford) or kidnapping (Eyler) victims, but were allowed to leave.
