John Crawford and Larry Eyler, both of them fine upstanding serial killers, have such a rare circumstance in common in their criminal lives that I can hardly believe it happened to 2 people. Can anyone name it?

DING DING DING! Both serial killers were caught in the act of assaulting (Crawford) or kidnapping (Eyler) victims, but were allowed to leave. And, yes, Crawford's victim had a black eye and her pants were undone so they arrested HER.See, respectively, Just Another Indian: A Serial Killer and Canada's Indifference and Notorious 92: Indiana's Most Heinous Murders in All 92 Counties.
