I'm looking for feedback from readers for the second book in my ya dystopian series, particularly of people who haven't read the first book. I will provide a synopsis of the first book, if you'd like, but preliminary readers have said they didn't need one. I'd just like a couple awesome readers to tell me what they think before I hit the publish button. :)
The basic premise of this series is that a privileged few can live forever by taking the lives of children. Mira, the main character in the first book, was chosen by Socrates, the first of the Firsts, and was supposed to die so that he could live long enough to propose a bill that would free her people.
This second book centers on two characters: Mira, who somehow survived the procedure but who must now impersonate the one who wanted her dead in order to save her people and Will, the boy she loved, who must cope with her "death" and protect the monster whose soul is supposed to reside in her body.
