I am on chapter 19, I couldn't sleep last night so I was up at about 1am reading this book, fell asleep with it in my hand. I slept HORRIBLY!!! I had VIVID images of what happened to Ishmael. This must have been the longest and most difficult nightmare I have ever had, and it was exactly what Ishamel experienced.
Seriously, I hope that I do not encounter these flashbacks in my personal life again.
Anyone had similar experiences? I may need to go to Benin House for rehabilitation or read a comedy after this.

Country of My Skull Guilt, Sorrow, and the Limits of Forgiveness in the New South Africa by Antjie Krog I had similar experiences when I read this book for my reconciliation class.

Ditto, very disturbing. Later, Ishmael came & spoke at my college. Very hard to reconcile what he did with the well dressed young man speaking.
