Sam (ecowitch) | 2366 comments Hi Janice, would Uncle Tom's Cabin count for Entertainment Yay - American Civil War? It's listed on the second page of the American Civil War 'genre' page hopefully linked here

This is a theme task, not a genre task so it doesn't matter about the genres listed on the book page.

I don't remember much of the book, so I peeked at the Wikipedia write-up. Nowhere does it mention the civil war as a theme. The themes are slavery, religion and motherhood. Themes Be careful, there are spoilers in the link.

Thanks Janice. I did think it slightly odd that it was on there as I don't remember the civil war being a big part of the story. But on the up side you've given me a good place to check for book themes, I always forget that Wikipedia can occasionally be useful :-)

Janice (jamasc) | 60157 comments You just have to watch for spoilers at Wikipedia.

Amanda | 1816 comments Janice, can I use The Calculating Stars for "Historical Fiction about exploration"? It's sci fi set in 1952 about exploring and colonizing space. Historical fiction is a genre listed on the main page. I just don't know how historically accurate you're looking for.

Yes, as long as Historical Fiction shows on the main book page (and it does), you're good to go.

Margo | 11684 comments Oh, thanks Amanda! I'm following that series and the 3rd book is to be released mid July. Perfect fit 😊

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yes, me too. I might read the second book for this task. I do not think that I paid much attention to the fact that this was a series when I read The Calculating Stars for the multiple women on the cover task.

Do you also ignore articles? For example would The Dugout work?

The task reads "one word only", so titles with articles will not work.

I suspected that, but just had to ask :)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I hate tineye!
I just finished listening to Plague (Gone, #4) by Michael Grant and tineye says it is only 47.8% green. I am just venting. Don't mind me...

Janice (jamasc) | 60157 comments It looks about half and half with the black. Vent away.

How was the book?

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Katrisa - I had a whole post ready to send and lost it. I will try it again when I am on my laptop.

Katrisa | 4508 comments Cherie I hate when that happens!

message 67: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Katrisa - I thought Plague was the weakest one in the whole series, but it was mostly because everything is getting so violent and improbable. I really, really, have grown to dislike the narrator's voice. I was about half way through the last book when I lost my post.
