Where in the story is the turning point in the relationship between Franklin and his father?

Karen (karen1278) | 428 comments For me it's when Eldon says to Franklin "you got to be a philosopher". The best moment in the book for me.

Anna (iudita) | 450 comments I think the turning point began the night they stayed in that cabin with that lady. That was the night that Eldon started to tell his story and it was the first time in his life that Franklin began to hear anything about his father's past. I think this was a subtle turning point because things didn't change much between them right away but I think it might have been the first conversation in a gradual process of understanding.
