SOLVED. YA or Kids book, about a wild appaloosa and his herd? [s]

I read it as a kid, it had a white cover with a hand drawn horse, possible appaloosa or paint horse? it was about a wild horse and his herd, there was drawings throughout the book, they were simple hand drawn. I remember he went down to a river? I feel like the title said wild appaloosa or something like that.

At least 10 years ago, it wasn't Misty, though I love those books! And the cover was literally blank except the horse on a hill, I feel like the book was a narrator telling the story of the wild horse
