Narelle (narelle_atkins) | 264 comments Welcome to our author Q&A with Cynthia Hickey.

Cynthia Hickey has been making up stories since she was a child. How fortunate that she finally found an outlet for her, uh, fictional tellings.

Multi-published and Best-Selling author Cynthia Hickey had three cozy mysteries and two novellas published through Barbour Publishing. Her first mystery, Fudge-Laced Felonies, won first place in the inspirational category of the Great Expectations contest in 2007. Her third cozy, Chocolate-Covered Crime, received a four-star review from Romantic Times. All three cozies have been re-released as ebooks through the MacGregor Literary Agency, along with a new cozy series, all of which stay in the top 50 of Amazon's ebooks for their genre. She has several historical romances releasing in 2013 and 2014 through Harlequin's Heartsong Presents, and has sold more than 250,000 copies of her works. She is active on FB, twitter, and Goodreads. She lives in Arizona with her husband, one of their seven children, two dogs and two cats. She has five grandchildren who keep her busy and tell everyone they know that "Nana is a writer". Visit her website at www.cynthiahickey.com where you can see her list of romantic suspense, historical romance, and cozy mysteries and sign up for her newsletter to win a free cookbook.

Cynthia’s latest book, A Doctor’s Heart, is a November 2014 release.

Betsy Colter's Heart is On the Line

Betrayed by her soldier fiancé, Betsy takes a job as a Harvey Girl waitress and vows to steer clear of military romance. But soon she's falling for her army pen pal, Dr. Spencer Gregory. When a wounded Spencer returns home and rebuffs her friendship and love, Betsy's deepest fears come true.

Though he's a decorated soldier, Spencer sees himself as a burden—one he won't saddle Betsy with. But keeping her at arm's length is no longer an option when Betsy's former fiancé shows up eager to win her back. If their romance is to survive the war, Spencer must set aside his pride and win her heart.

Welcome, Cynthia! I’m going to open the floor for our readers to ask questions and start our discussion.

Davalynn Spencer | 150 comments Happy to see another book from you, Cynthia. It seems like the wounded hero in this new book will be one today's military and spouses will be able to relate with. Was that in the back of your mind as you wrote?

No, this is the fourth and final book in a series about the Harvey Girls. The others are: Cooking Up Love, An Unconventional Lady, and In A Texas Ranger's Arms

I'm working on the 2nd book in a disaster series for Heartsong. The first book deals with the SF earthquake in 1906 and this one is a volcano in Hawaii in 1924. I'm hoping to show how love can emerge from even the most dire of circumstances

Ausjenny | 207 comments that sounds cool Cynthia. I saw how the destruction of one hurricane in Hawaii at the same time as Hurricane Andrew. They were saying how the insurance people were saying how amazed they were at what the people in Hawaii had done to clear up after the events. The people all get together and help. I can see how love can emerge and it will be interesting to see what you do with the series. PS read Handcraved Christmas and Loved it.
