Alas Amazon | 3 comments I have been reading novels in this genre for at least four decades (retired teacher). I prefer beta reading books that are character driven and not overly violent or militaristic. I have been beta reading for at least five years now, and very much enjoy my work. The majority of my authors are pleased with the results.

I do insist that the author self-edit his/her own book before sending me a .mobi file. Contact information will be provided once I receive a reply and a short description of your book.

You've taken the first important step to publish a book. Now, take it a step further and make sure your book is error free before you publish. All my best to you.

Let me be a bit more specific about the sub-genres of this genre, and what I'm interesting in reading/proofing.
1. Post-nucluear novels, heavy on character development. (Think Alas Babylon).
2. Post-pandemic novels. Again, character driven. (Think The Stand.)
3. Post-natural disasters (earthquakes, meteor strikes, crazy weather). (Think Lucifer's Hammer.)
4. Dystopian novels. (Think Brave New World.)
5. Zombie novels in which the zombies are not the main part of the story.
(Think The Forest of Hands and Teeth.)

Again, let me state that militaristic books, ones that are uber-violent (especially towards women and children) ones that have a mad/insane leader (either secular or religious) are usually not interesting to me. If of the zombie genre, please no zombie cheerleaders/business men in dark suit still holding brief case and wearing glasses, or seven feet tall mega-zombies. Pet peeve...sorry.

Peter | 3 comments Hi, Alas. I have a psychological novel of suspense that will come out in March. I was previously published by a major house. Now going Indie. My story has been fairly well proofed, and is in a final or near final stage.

I'm interested in flow and interest. Where does the story stall? Do you care about the protagonist? Do any story problems stick out.

You can see the blurb for my coming book at: https://www.petergilboy.com/the-whole...

Let me know, please. Thank you, Alas.

Alas Amazon | 3 comments Hi Peter,

I did look at the link. I'm sure it will appeal to many, but it is just not a genre I'm interested in.

Wishing you all the best.

Robert Michael | 26 comments Hi Alas,

I'm nearly ready to publish my work, I'd like to know if you'd be interested in it. The blurb is below.

Sir works for a private firm that functions deep within the black market. He runs an escort service in his spare time. After years of uneasy peace, war is coming and he must stop it. Lovely, a mercenary tasked with protecting him, ignites his heart with a kiss.

Looming war and the release of a deadly virus hangs over his head. His choices will determine whether he can protect Lovely from the apocalypse. To master his destiny, he must write his fate and find the cure so they may have tomorrow.

Thanks!

Alas Amazon | 3 comments Hi Robert,

I do believe that either I am too picky, or I was not specific enough in the types of books I would like to work on. I this case, you lost me with "escort service". I wish you the best of luck with your book. Keep writing and publishing!

I have a post apocalyptic book called Gone World if your willing to read. It meets all of your criteria as well.
