Aredoy87 | 1 comments It’s an adventure-themed short story read in 8th grade in my school literature textbook; about 2000 so assuming this book was published in the 90s.

The story takes place in the late 1800s/early 1900s in a western/desert/frontier type setting.

It is about a boy who goes to visit his grandfather who I believe is estranged. At the climax of the story, the boy crosses some type of rope or cable over a canyon or gorge, possibly at night and in the rain. I believe this was to benefit his grandfather, but I don’t remember exactly why.
