We will discuss the last chapter here.

Carolien (carolien_s) | 116 comments Love the ending even though predictable. This was the first book I read by any of the Bronte sisters and I really enjoyed it.

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 304 comments I wonder if Bronte was attempting to rewrite her own history by giving herself such an ending.
Much as how Austen gave her heroines happy, secure endings of love.

A "this is how it could've been"?

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 304 comments Yup
Or 'this is how it should have been.' She gave her fictional family a better future.

I think that Austen's Jane Bennett represents her sister Cassandra- given the perfect ending.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 315 comments This was a much more simple book than Villette and Wuthering Heights in terms of plot, characters and readability.

It is probably unfair make comparisons like this--all of Bronte's are unique individuals. However, I can't help myself since I read all of these books in a comparatively short time-span.
