SOLVED. 90’s set two military daughters growing up near Lake Tahoe and one moves away. [s]

I read a book in the late 90’s about two sisters who grew up in the Lake Tahoe area. I believe their father was in the military (no mother?). The story is chunked into two parts- one when they are late teens and then later when they are adults and one of the sisters had moved away (maybe had joined the military as well???). Might have been a Christian fiction but most likely not. Anyway, was a great book and thought my daughter would now like to read but can’t remember the important details!
