Zachary Espiritu | 1 comments It's first person, and the character is male. I believe he has a daughter of some sort who ends up dying somewhere in the book.

I read this just a couple months ago but I don't know how far back it was published. If any of you could help me out here, that would be really awesome.

Martini (shakenorstirred) | 214 comments First book that came to my mind was The Housekeeper and the Professor.
It is first person, but from the housekeeper's pov. Could that still be the one you're looking for?

Posting Zachary's one post in that other thread:

Sorry guys, I don't know too much, since I heard this at a reading a while back.

I know it's not Still Alice, which is the only book I could find when searching online.

I'm pretty sure it's fiction, but I could be entirely wrong.

And I think the daughter dies.

Thanks everyone.

And dupe thread deleted.

What popped into my head was Stoner, but I don't remember if he developed dementia (if he did, it would have been near the end). I also don't remember if his daughter died. However I do know she became an alcoholic.

Here's a plot summary of Stoner on Wikipedia - with lots of SPOILERS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoner_...
