October Shelf will be 20th-century

description

What's on your TBR? What will you be looking to pick up in October?

Any particular personal highlights in 20th century (that you're willing to share with the group)?

I'll be reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton for my IRL bookclub and then I'll see... :)

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1344 comments I seem to always plan to read certain books and end up reading different ones instead... However, since I like 20th century literature and nominated the shelf myself, I guess I'll have more than one book that will fit in.

Browsing through the shelves, these are the ones that stand out and that I would recommend:

1984
Animal Farm
Brave New World
Fahrenheit 451
The Handmaid's Tale
The Bell Jar
The Metamorphosis
The Little Prince
Rebecca
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
and obviously the Harry potter series

Some that I have on my TBR:

Doctor Zhivago
The House of Mirth
The Good Soldier - which I'll probably be reading as a buddy read in another group
The Day of the Triffids
The French Lieutenant's Woman
The Power and the Glory
The World of Yesterday
The Immoralist

The Handmaid's Tale
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Brave New World
In Cold Blood

I've read the first three on your list and gave them all 5 stars. I haven't read the last one. I hope life gets better for you in terms of reading!

Marooned in Realtime is on my LOST list, so I'll definitely read that. I haven't decided about any others yet.

It turns out the library's copy of Marooned in Realtime is lost. So I'll start with Hide and Seek (Inspector Rebus #2), its replacement on my LOST list, or maybe The Inimitable Jeeves, just for fun.
