Brandon paled. His family… Laila… she was back there with those people!? "I'll get them." he promised. "You lay here, please, and let the doctors help you. I'll get them." he said seriously. He got back in the jet, taking off back to the mountain. When he got there, he found men surrounding Laila and Parker, guns trained on their heads. Laila had a gash from her neck down to her wrist, precise enough to have been done by a scalpel, but she wasn't even phased by it, as she shielded Parker with her body. "Give us back our subject!" the soldiers shouted. Brandon grit his teeth and threw a knockout gas, murmuring apologies, as he picked up Parker, and the dog, who was clearly shot. He carried them to the jet, making sure Laila was in alright and took off.Krissy nodded in agreement. "This one should definitely go on the registry." she agreed. She smiled at him then. "Let's go pick out bedding!" She suggested.
Josh watched her approach him with the tools and his smile turned soft. "Well those look gruesome…" He said… watching her. "Should I close my eyes?" he teased, raising an eyebrow.
Chris lay on the exam table hating that he was back on one as the doctors examined his hand and up his arm. He couldn't stop think of the scientist petting him like an animal and growled starting to thrash again not being able to stay calm "I want my wife!" Danny grinned and nodded "my stepdad is getting a guy to build us a wood bed frame and the mattresses come with, that's their gift to us...but you can choose the bedding I don't care really I just care about the girl in the bed." He teased nuzzling her.
Grace smiled moving his gown up and analyzing the tubing, she released the balloon and slowly pulled it out again being gentle and smiled "all done, see? Not that bad..." She put a bed pan under him for the drainage.
Brandon arrived back at HQ and immediately gave Parker over to one of the women on staff to take care of and watch, as he knew it wasn't going to be nice for a child to watch surgery. Laila needed stitches, and she couldn't watch her child. Brandon left the dog with some doctors, hopeful on being able to save it, but knowing it was probably a lost cause. He let Laila into the room where Chris was, and she immediately sobbed in relief, running over to him and collapsing beside him, her head tucked against his side. "They promised they wouldn't hurt you… I'm so sorry…." She was trembling with fear, and shock from her injury, and just generally stunned by all that had happened. Krissy blushed, swatting him lightly. "Danny!" she said, shaking her head, and then stole a kiss, smiling brightly. "Alright. Well I'd like something fairly simple." she moved into the duvets, and pointed to one. "This one matches our paint colour in the bedroom."
Josh knew he was blushing in embarrassment, and he wiped a hand down the side of his face. "Well this is humiliating…" he grumbled, even though he really didn't mind that she saw him. Though peeing in a pan was kind of embarrassing.
Chris was so grateful to see his love, he held her close to him and buried his face into her hair and just held on never wanting to let her go. He winced looking at the stitches down her arm "they promised they wouldn't hurt you..." He whispered and kissed her hand and pressed it to his face "I'm a freak..."Danny nodded and blinked at the price "yikes..." He used the cool bar code reader to put it in the registry and smirked "hopefully the wedding guests are richer then we are!" He teased holding her around the waist close to him.
Grace smiled cleaning him and then slowly kissing it all the way up his stomach chest and lips "better?..." She smiled knowing it was hard for him and wanted him to feel empowered and sexy again."
Laila curled up against Chris, crying quietly into his shirt. She was in shock and she just wanted to be held by him. She tucked her stitched arm against herself so he wouldn't have to look at it. "You left and they came for me." she whispered, clutching his shirt. "You're not a freak. I love you. I'm so sorry." she sobbed. A nurse walked over and carefully bandaged up Laila's arm, bringing over a needle to give her some pain and calming meds. Laila freaked at the sight of the metal needle and shot off Chris like a rocket, scrambling away from the nurse. "No… please…not again…!" She said in hysterics. Krissy laughed softly. "With so many guests, I'm sure they can pull together…" she smiled, feeling special as they walked around the store, him with his arm around her. "I think we've just about covered everything… anything else you can think of?"
Josh shivered with pleasure and closed his eyes, nodding slowly. "Mhm… much better love…" He whispered, pulling her against him and kissing her deeply when she reached his lips.
Chris rose and grabbed onto Laila "shhh...I've got you shh, it's to help the pain honey..." He whispered and took the needle from the nurse and injected it himself. He walked them both to the bed and snuggled up sighing as he couldn't feel with his biomechanical hand and that saddened him.Jace and Mai were sitting in the apartment going over the names and contacts Jace had came up with for he first dates. She glanced at the pictures finding them all handsome "you promise they aren't going to freak out about the scars?"
Malibu was with Ashley getting to the airport after the drama in the mountain was completed he held her hand as they sat in the waiting terminal smiling at her and brushing her hair back "excited to see your mum?"
Danny smiled "for the bedroom we are done...bathroom want to check out the kitchen and outdoors? I mean we have a near whole beach to ourselves." He justified and smiled wrapping an arm around her shoulders "1 more week!" He said excited squeezing her lovingly.
Grace smiled brushing his hair back and getting the warm sudsy water and cleaning him slowly...eventually they both ended up without clothes tangled in the sheets.
Laila cried quietly but she just tucked her face against him so she didn't see the needle. She didn't even feel it when Chris injected it into her and she just clung to him. "Are you… are you ok…?" she asked finally, starting to calm in his arms. Mostly she was just numb. Jace had his arms crossed behind his head and he nodded, confident. "Trust me, these guys aren't that shallow, I know them all." he promised, sure that his friends would be nice to her, even if they didn't find her as a suitable match.
Ashley chuckled, looking up form the newspaper she was reading, and she folded it and put it back down on the table again. "more nervous for your sake, love." she teased, shaking her head as she leaned into him.
Krissy nodded in agreement. "That's true. We should get something nice for the patio, or an umbrella or something for the beach." She agreed, walking with him into the outdoors area. "Do you like any of these porch lights?"
Josh kissed the top of her head, and smiled, leaning his head on top of hers. He didn't want to break the moment, and he certainly didn't want her to leave him here, but he knew she had a shift starting soon. "Love… it's nearly eight."
Chris sighed "I'm mad..." He said honestly and stroke her hair trying not to think about it "I do t ever want to be taken advantage like that again...he petted me like a wild animal and I knew I was going to end up gone by the end of it...im mad that someone was that psychotic that he tried to do that to people and Derrick..."Mai pointed to the dark haired one "alright that one, you call him up and I'll go get dressed." She said going to her bedroom and changing into a short but acceptable dress and leather jacket curling her hair back and putting on bright red lipstick. Game on.
Malibu paled "that doesn't give me confidence love..." He whispered and kissed her cheek "please say she'll like me...and that she won't hate the idea of a British garden wedding...my tux is in the belly of the plane by now!"
Danny looked around "what about string lights around the rafters? Would that be cool?" He asked looking at all of the lights and scrutinizing each one.
Grace moaned and quickly sat up and got s new pair of scrubs from the machine and got changed putting her hair up out of her face "yeah..." She kissed him and smiled "I'll see you later."
Laila kept quiet and just listened to what he was saying. She hated that he had been treated like that, that he had been tortured, and… petted of all things. "I'm so sorry love…" She whispered, hating that any of this happened. "This was all my fault…" she mumbled. Jace nodded in agreement, picking up the picture and dialling the number at the bottom. He explained the situation, making sure that Matthew knew that Mai had scars, and that she was sensitive about them. Then he smiled as Mai came back down the stairs. "You look lovely." he said, meaning it. "Matthew will be here in ten minutes."
Ashley laughed softly, picking up their suitcases as their flight was called. "She'll love you, I promise. She's going to try to overfeed you cake, and hug you to death, and if she offers you kittens, refuse, ok?" She pecked his cheek. "She'll just insist we take fifty cats home." She shook her head as they boarded the plane.
Krissy beamed, clasping her hands together. "Oh that's such a romantic idea!" She agreed, thrilled with his suggestion. "Its so artsy, and… creative. i love it." She moved over to the truing lights, pointing to some softer yellow-white ones. "These ones work ok?"
Josh hated to see her go, but she had work, and other patients to see. "See you soon." he said, waving as she left, and then he sighed, alone again.
Chris frowned shaking his head "you aren't responsible for any of this love...none of it, I'm just sorry that I actually believed you left me...it killed me...where's Parker where's are baby is she hurt? And Munchy..."Mai smiled breathing in and out bouncing slightly "this is so exciting!...oh my word im going on a date..." She said smiling at him and glad she had such a good friend through this. The door knocked and she let Jace answer it while she stepped out and smiled "you must be Matthew im Mai."
Malibu chuckled "I really am not a cat guy...and we have Toby...he is scared of everything cats would be a definite no on his list!" He sat down in first class with her and took her hand smiling "I bet she's as wonderful as the daughter she made..."
Danny nodded "yeah those would look great!" He checked the price and didn't flinch for once "we can buy these!" He said excited feeling like such a grown up.
Laila swallowed and kept quiet, but she honestly believed that this was her fault. She had been the one to help set it all up. "I would never leave you." She whispered, meaning it. "Parker is safe. One of the ladies here is watching her. She was scared of my arm." She said, remembering how the blood had frightened her. "And Munchkin… Munchkin was shot…" She whispered. "He's with the doctors now."Jace chuckled, happy to see her so happy. "And hopefully it goes well."he agreed as a knock came on the door. He answered it for his friend and smiled as he stepped in, standing back so Matthew could step up. He bent, bowing, and kissing her knuckles. "and this is the lovely lady I've heard so much about…"
Ashley laughed easily then, buckling up her seat belt. "She's wonderful alright… in her own special way…" she shook her head, amused. "Now we get to sit back and relax for the long flight…" She leaned her head on his shoulder. "Don't fall asleep on me…" She mumbled, drifting off herself.
Krissy beamed, as it was wonderful to think that they could actually afford something, and were buying something themselves. "Wonderful!" She added them to their shopping cart and pecked his cheek as they moved on to the chairs and benches.
Chris frowned worried about their dog, their best friend...he loved that dog just as much as his own daughter "he was trying to protect you..." he realized and shook his head "I don't want him to die Laila...tell Brandon I want the best care he can give him..."Mai smiled and giggled "pleasure to meet you...are you ready to go?" She asked grabbing her purse and smiling back at Jace "don't wait up!" She teased and went into the car with Matthew hoping that they would have a connection.
Malibu lsmilex watching her and using the free blanket covered her up and watched the TV in front of him, but in a couple of hours he was asleep as well his head resting on hers.
Danny smiled looking at everything "I like them...but I want them more mismatched more artsy." He explained and spun one "that's what I invision and a bar with a sound system and a projector for movies.
Laila nodded numbly, as Munchy had jumped in front to save them. He had bought them time, and kept Parker from being the next one hurt. "Brandon already knows. I told him." She promised, worried for their dog, and their kid, and Chris. She was just stressed all around. Matthew smiled charmingly. "Pleasure is all mine." he insisted, leading her out to his car. He opened the door for her before climbing in.
Jace just waved from the window, suddenly feeling lonely as they drove off.
Ashley woke when the plane started it's decent to land again, and she smiled over at Malibu, kissing his cheek before gathering up their things and getting off the plane again. "It isn't a long ride to her house." She promised. "Just a quick train ride."
Krissy closed her eyes to imagine what he was thinking and she nodded, smiling brightly. "Awesome." She agreed. "We could get beanbag chairs!" she suggested. "That would be so snuggly. And a hammock!"
Chris sighed holding onto her "we are all safe...breathe Laila...breathe..." He whispered and sighed "Krissy and Danny are moving into the beach house and we are going to find somewhere else...where no one can find us..."Mai smiled "so what are you studying? Jace said he met you at the academy..." She said softly wanting to start off the date well and get to know him. He certainly was a gentleman and she found that admirable.
Malibu nodded grabbing their suitcases and boarding the train "she does know we are coming right?" He asked sitting by her again and looking out at the countryside in awe "so beautiful..."
Danny nodded scanning those things and chuckling "let's hope people actually check the registry, I hate when they don't and they get us something we really don't want or need."
Laila swallowed, trying to listen to what he said. In reality, if he hadn't given her the sedatives, she would have been panicking. But they were going somewhere safe, where no one would find them. She hated leaving their home behind. Parker would never know the waves after all. "Where will we go?" She asked, tucking her face against his shoulder. Matthew nodded as they drove up to the restaurant and he opened the door for her. "I study crime and punishment, currently. I want to become a detective, an investigator in crime." he said honestly.
Ashley sat down with him on the train, leaning against him as the train started up. "She knows." She promised. "And she's thrilled to see us both." She smiled softly as he marvelled at her home land. "Yes, isn't it?"
Krissy laughed easily, nodding in agreement. "I sure hope so. Though I have one aunt I know who will purposefully ignore the registry…" She shook her head. "Knowing her, she'll probably buy us a home aquarium." She giggled.
Chris sughed stroking her hair back "Brandon found us a really nice place in Italy...right by the ocean in a quaint town that you will just love..." He held her close "I want to keep our family safe...Parker will still love the waves and now will speak Italian!"Mai smiled fascinated by that "how interesting! I've always loved shows like Criminal minds...are you enjoying it? How many more years of school?"
Malibu smiled playing with her hair and down her arm "Mmm I love you...I love having this time with you..." He tapped her nose "oh almost forgot! Mira wanted you to wear this at the wedding." He pulled out a temporary tattoo that was done by her "just add water, no pain." He chuckled.
Danny's eyes lit up "can we have fishies? Like different colors? Or turtles?!"
Laila finally smiled tentatively, happy to hear of such a nice place that they already had planned out for them. "Living in Italy really will be an adventure…" She said, her smile soft. "Thank you, for taking care of us." She kissed his cheek. Then she looked down at his hand, lifting it and turning it over. "What happened?" she asked, before she could stop herself. Knowing that was probably a bad question, she shook her head quickly. "You don't have to answer that." She whispered. Matthew nodded, sitting down with her at a table. "It's quite interesting." he said seriously. "I enjoy the puzzles and challenges. I have three more years to complete." he picked up a slice of bread and started buttering it.
Ashley smiled lightly, nodding in agreement. "I love this time too." She whispered, as she train started to slow. She looked at the tattoo and laughed, shaking her head. "Well that will be fun for you to find on our wedding night…" She teased, standing as the train stopped.
Krissy laughed then, elbowing him gently. "Well then. Looks like that present will be a valued one. I'll let my aunt know that we want it after all." She stole a kiss.
Chris shook his head "you should know...that when I touch you...I can feel your soft skin anymore or the warm breath against my fingers...they took out my bones and muscles like a jigsaw puzzle and replaced it with titanium...it was painful and I was scared...he wanted my mind...he wanted my entire body like this..."((Ok your scaring me, that is exactly what I'm doing in school studying criminology and why...*twilight zone theme music*))
Mai smiled "I always wanted to do something to stop the bad guys..and then I flew for the first time and I knew that was my passion...it was where my heart wanted to be...what about you?...when did you know this was your passion."
Malibu chuckled "I think it's a sleeve art so that will be easy to find...Mira wants pictures as well..." He grabbed the luggage and exited the train and saw his wife...what she'd look like in 20 years..."mrs Waters?"
Danny chuckled "sorry...I've always loved sea creatures...my mom thought fish were...a waste of time and money."
Pain filled Laila's eyes and she tucking his hand against her cheek, kissing his palm and then just cradling it, as if by doing so, she could make it better. "That sounds awful…" She whispered, hating to think of her love strapped down and tortured like that. "I wish I could have stopped it, I wish I could have helped you…" ((Lol! I had no idea! That's really cool. How are you liking it?))
Matthew smiled softly, taking a bite of his bead as he listened to her. "That makes sense. Flying sounds cool too. I guess I always wanted to study this since when I was young, and saw some of the detective movies on TV. Sherlock Holmes was my childhood hero." he said honestly, looking a little embarrassed.
Ashley laughed easily then. "Oh she does, does she? Of course she would. We'll have to give her her photo shoot then." She said, as she stepped off the train.
A smiling women immediately rushed up to greet them, throwing her arms around Ashley. "Baby!" She cried, hugging her tight. Then she straightened and seemed to regain composure. "Yes, I'm Mrs. Waters. And you are Malibu?" She asked, not hesitating in hugging him too.
Krissy nodded, liking that he had a passion for something. "No, I think it's sweet. And entirely applicable, since we will live on a beach." She pointed out. "Did you try to get fish as a child?"
Chris shook his head pressing his finger to her lips "no more of that...I need you to be strong and not blame yourself anymore...please that isn't helping it hurts me worse then the surgery...I can't keep soothing your mind if you don't let go of that guilt..."((I really enjoy it :) it's hard but the passion keeps me going))
Mai smiled loving to listen about him...but he didn't ask once about her, it was all about him and that did unnerve her but she stayed smile nodding "I love Sherlock holmes...have you read the hound of Baskerville?"
Malibu chickled and hugged the friendly women feeling her mothership vines and love that he couldn't describe "Mali if you please ma'am...it's so good to meet you finally...I see where my Ashley gets her looks."
Danny sighed "I got one from a fair and it died and my mom flushed it down the toilet and said be a man..."
Laila squeezed her eyes shut, feeling guilty then. She hadn't thought how her self blame might hurt him too. Not your fault… not your fault… "I'm sorry… I'm sorry. I'll try to do better." She promised, pressing her face into his hand. "And I'm never going to write another note to you again." She smiled lightly. "so what can you do with this new hand?" She asked, trying to lighten the mood.((Awesome! :) ))
Matthew nodded, loving the conversation. He could talk about what he was passionate about for hours. "I read most of it in past years… wonderful novel." he said, approvingly. "what did you think of it?"
She smiled brightly. "Mali! Wonderful!" She waved them towards her town house, which was quite lovely looking. "Oh dear, you are too kind…" she said, flustered as she opened the door. "Well come on, come in!"
Krissy frowned, not liking that story at all. She hugged him quickly. "We'll get a nice tank full of lots of fish, and we won't be flushing any." She promised.
Chris caressed her face with his good hand and held her close to him "it's stronger...faster, maybe I'll finally learn to play guitar!" He teased and nuzzled her "in all seriousness though...im ok, I'm getting paid leave so that's nice and your ok...which is even nicer and they are destroying that place which is the nicest of all."Mai was about to speak but then food came and it didn't matter what she had to say, he was too focused on his steak...and he ordered for her without asking. She was a vegetarian...and he didn't even think to ask so she munched on the salad and potatoes.
Mali chuckled helping Ashley in and looked around the beautiful estate "you have a lovely home..." He said charmingly and hooked his arm with Ashley trying to be the best son in law he could be.
Danny's fave brightened and he hugged her tight "aw you really do love me!"
Laila managed a smile and she shook her head. "Well, then now you can serenade me with songs." She said, tucking her face up against his chest. "Paid leave is nice. You'll have money to waste." She smiled lightly. "We can go to Italy and forget about all this." She stole a kiss. The meal finished up and Matthew felt like he had gained a wonderful friend. He escorted her back to her house, and smiled as he bent to kiss her hand again. "It's been a wonderful evening. Call me if you would like to do it again, ok?" He smiled, waving, as he went to his car.
Ashley and her mother both beamed. "Family house and all that." Ashley's mother said promptly. She looked back at Malibu and smiled. "And call me Rachel, dear."
Krissy giggled, hugging him back. "Of course I do, silly. We're getting married." She kissed his cheek and looked around the store some more. "What sorts of fish do you want?"
Chris nodded and sighed in relief when Parker ran into the room hugging Laila. Chris was exstatic and hugged his girl tightly "Mmm my girl...I miss you..." He whispered stroking her dark hair and feeling better now that his daughter was in his arns.Mai rolled her eyes going into the house and putting a big ol' red x over his picture "well that was fun..." She sighed making herself a pb and j sandwich so she could actually eat.
Malibu swallowed "Um ok Rachel..." He didn't think it appropriate to call his mother in law that but it was what she wanted and he wasn't going to argue.
Danny shrugged "colorful tropical ones are nice I really like turtles so maybe a baby turtle could swim in there...being all chill."
Laila hugged Parker tight, and then let her scramble into her father's arms. "Daddy!" She giggled, tugging on his hair to pull him closer as she laughed, "Daddy I found you!" She leaned her forehead against his "You were gone and I found you…"Jace looked up from the table as she came back home and he raised an eyebrow. "Not going to work out?" he repeated. "He didn't run away, did he?"
Ashley chuckled, pecking his cheek. "Told you she's eccentric." She whispered.
Rachel didn't turn around, but she did call back, "I heard that!" She wagged a finger in the air as she entered the kitchen. "Tea anyone?"
Krissy smiled, trying to imagine that. "Oh that really does sound lovely. And a baby turtle! That would be wonderful! But what do we do with it when it gets big?"
Chris smiled and kissed her head and nodded "and I found you my little one...have you had fun playing with the nurse? Did you watch some disney movies?" Mai sighed "no...he's a great guy really, he's nice and talkative...but he didn't ask one thing about me, never said my babe once...and he ordered me a steak Jace! A little cow was dead on my plate!"
Malibu smiled and helped her set the table for tea "I love that it's an actually seperate meal here...so do you have any stories about my future wife?"
Danny shrugged "we live by an ocean...we'll let it go and keep a tracker on it to make sure it's ok..."
Parker flopped back on the bed between her parents and nodded eagerly. "I watched the one with the big hairy guy! And Belle. There was lots of singing." She wrinkled up her nose. "But I escaped the nurse, don't you worry!" She beamed, incredibly proud of herself.Jace chuckled good-naturedly then, shaking his head. "Oh the horror…" He murmured mostly to himself. "That little cow has probably been dead for weeks, if its any consolation to you. But I'm sorry Matthew has such a love for talking, I know it can get away from him."
Rachel beamed as she brought out a cake and a knife to slice it with. "Oh do I ever!"
Ashley groaned in mock despair as she went to fetch the teapot from the kitchen.
"When your girl was twelve, she had it in her mind that she wanted to be like the boys. She decided that all girls should have the rights of a male, as most of her friends were boys. However, one day when it was quite warm, she figured, that since the rest of her friends were topless… then it would be alright to just slip off her own shirt and keep playing ball."
Ashley came back with the pot and set it on the table, murmuring something about being oblivious as a child.
Rachel just continued, laughing to herself. "She got such a whooping from her father that night when he found her running around just playing ball on her own while all the boys gawked at her. There were a lot of twelve year old boys who had to be talked to about why girls looked different that night. I got a lot of complaints from their mothers…"
Krissy nodded slowly, thinking that over, before she nodded in earnest. "Sounds good. I'll have to call up my aunt and ask for a turtle." She winked. "I think we'll leave that one off the registry…"
Chris chuckled holding her "that's my girl..." He pressed his lips to her hair just so grateful he got the chance to "so guess what bunny? We are going to move to a new country you'll love it! And you can get that pony you always wanted."Mai shrugged "that's not it...he would have a great date with a the listening part of the phone. He should marry a mute girl." She curled up on his chest "who's my next victim?"
Malibu chuckked kissing Ashley's cheek and tickling her "that is the cutest story..." He said admiringly and sipped his tea. But the father part made him think about her real dad and felt a little bad he never knew his funny sweet daughter.
Danny chuckled "we may get some weird looks that's for sure..what's bext? Lingerie? I think yes. This time I'll buy."
Parker giggled, curling up between them. "New country?" She asked, frowning a little. "Is Munchkin and Krissy coming too?" She immediately inquired. Then she squealed. "Pony!!!!!! I get a pony!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. Jace laughed easily then, shaking his head. "Now I have to hook him up with a mute girl. Thanks for making more work for me." He teased, slinging an arm around her shoulders. He picked up a picture of a chocolate skinned man. "This is Pedro."
Ashley shrieked, jumped away from his tickling hand. "Oh don't even start that!" She wrapped her arms around her stomach. "I think it is the most horrific story ever." she glared at her mother who simply laughed and sliced the cake.
Krissy blushed bright red. "You buy it?" She repeated. "Danny… how inappropriate!" She shook her head, but walked along with him to the store. "I guess it'll help me figure out what you like."
Chris already notified Brandon to replace munchkin with s new black lab almost identical so Parker didn't have to know about his death. He kissed her head "auntie Krissy and uncle Danny are staying here honey but we can always visit ok?" He smiled at Laika glad that the third member of their family was content with the move.Mai smiled at the picture "he is very handsome." She admitted, always had a thing for dark skin. She flipped through his likes and dislikes "yeah set us up for tomorrow night...no dinner this time we should do something active."
Malibu chuckled "you've heard some of mine that were far more worse Ashley I think you'll survive..." He nudged her and grinned.
Danny chuckled moving her away from the store "it was a joke, I love to see you react like that however. That's your job during the bridal shower from your friends."
Laila squeezed Chris's hand, knowing he was thinking about their dead dog, she missed him too. Parker however, was all laughs and smiles. "Yay!!!" She giggled, tucking the blanket around her. She patted Chris's arm then, "Sleep now, Daddy. Big day today."
Jace nodded, a strange feeling gnawing at his gut. He couldn't identify it. "Sounds good." He smiled. "I'll call him up tonight."he promised. "What active things were you thinking of? A jog? Biking? A hike?"
Ashley smiled a little then, nodding in agreement. "Ok. We're even then. She agreed. She added some sugar to her tea and sipped at it. "So mother, what is new in England?"
Rachel shook her head. "Nothing new dear, this country never changes. Just all the usual gossip."
Krissy blushed even fiercer. "You little…." She shook her head. "I'm so gullible." She rubbed a hand down the side of her face. "So where to next? …actually?"
Chris smiled at his little girl, she was so selfless and kind...just like her mother. He wrapped her up in his arms and snuggled in "goodnight Parker..." He kissed Laila "Goidnight love..." He nuzzled her neck and dighed flipping off the lights.Mai smiled "a hike sounds really fun! Yeah let's do a hike and I can wear those new little shorts I bought! They aren't too skimpy right?" She loved thinking about that she had a best friend that was a guy and she could date!
Malibu smiled and sipped his tea looking around the house "so this is where you grew up Ashley? Do you still have your bedroom here?"
Danny smiled "how about dinner?...or we could have a picnic on the beach?"
Jace laughed then, shaking his head. "Maybe you should go try them on for me and I'll tell you whether or not they're too short." He winked at her, enjoying teasing her. Ashley looked up from finishing up the cake and she nodded. "Yes. I grew up here. Unless my mother refurnished my room, I see no reason why it wouldn't still be here."
Rachel grinned. "It's still there. Go on, you can show him. After tea." She added.
Krissy's smile grew into a happy grin. "Oh that sounds lovely! Let's have a picnic on the beach!" She said, loving the idea of having an adventure.
Mai smacked him "hey you said no dating so you don't get to be attracted to me." She teased back but went to change in the shorts and her tank top plus her hiking boots "good?"Malibu smiled and took a piece "this is delicious!" He praised and sipped his tea and smiled at her mom "so where is your husband?"
Danny smiked getting into the truck and helping her back home "look at this awesome place, can you believe your brother is giving us the place?"
Jace shook his head, amused. "Doesn't mean I can't admire a cute body. I'm a dude, sheesh." He called after her. He looked up as she came out, and his eyes ran appreciatively down her outfit. "If he doesn't fall at your feet, I'll be surprised."Rachel shrugged noncommittally. "It didn't take long to make." Then she glanced over at him. "He's in London on a business trip." She said honestly.
Krissy looked over her brother's house and an empty feeling gnawed at her when she thought of Chris not living there, and her guest house sitting empty. "yeah. It's awesome."
Mai laighed lightly and pecked his cheek "I'm going to go have a hot bath ok? Will you be ok on your own for a minute?" They lived together but she just remembered he didn't want a date so she pushed her feelings aside and was his best friend.Malibu nodded "did you have anymore kids after Ashley?" He smiled over at his girl, gosh she was pretty beyond pretty. She saved his life and he wouldn't be Mali without her.
Danny rubbed her shoulders "hey you ok?..."
Jace chuckled then. "I think I can handle myself for a few minutes." He said, rolling his eyes. He watched her leave to the washroom and he shook his head. She was cute in her own way, but he kept a reign on what he was feeling, just like he always did. Rachel shook her head, almost disappointed. "No. We were too old by that point." That was most of the truth, it was also because she was scared of the event, and losing a husband again.
Ashley bit her lip.
Krissy smiled weakly, leaning into him. "Yeah… I just don't like change much." She admitted, sighing softly. "I'm going to miss them."
Chris was helping his family to the jet as they flew to their new home in Italy, it was an old fashioned villa with a grape vinery and the beautuful beach gazebo.Mai smiled and got cleaned and dressed for bed. She snuggled up on his side and watched the movie with him "wish I could help you in some way? You do so much for me Jace..."
Malibu nodded "Sometimes it's better to be an only child, I have two siblings so it gets a little crazy." He chuckked "I have a twin sister and we usually never got seperate attention."
Danny hugged them tight "why are they moving to Italy?" He wondered in was very far and away from Krissy which was hard for her.
Laila watched out the window as they arrived and she gasped, jumping out of the jet with Parker and bringing her up to explore. "Oh it's beautiful!" She exclaimed, whirling in a circle. Jace watched the movie with one arm around her shoulders and he shook his head. "I can't think of anything reasonable right now." he said honestly. He was having a hard time focusing on the movie.
Rachel smiled, glad to have something else to talk about. "Yes. I've heard of your siblings. Especially this twin. I've always been fascinated by twins. What a different life you must have had."
Krissy nodded, just staring at the big house. It seemed so… empty. "I…" She remembered what she was supposed to say and sighed. "For Chris's job." Which was true. "They've already left."
Chris chickled and held hrt closr kissing her lobingly "you promise? I just want you happy honey...and I know this is s big change...but you speak pretty good Italian already right?...and Delaney and Brandon live close."Mai smiled and snuggled up yawning "you sure?...I would be really willing to do anything Jace, when are we going to the wedding?"
Malibu chuckled "she's pretty amazing, her daughter is so sweet! And yeah I disn't like sharing everything and trying to be individual when everyone wants you the same."
Danny frowned "they'll be back for the wedding right?"
Laila nodded, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Yeah. I promise. I think this will be good for us." She insisted. "I do miss our place back home though. And Munchkin." She said softly, being honest with him. Jace shook his head insistently, pulling his arm away from her and just leaning his elbows on his knees in thought. "Yeah, I'm sure." he said softly. "The wedding is in two weeks."
Rachel nodded in understanding as she stood to clear the dishes into the kitchen. "You'll have to tell me more about yourself over supper." She insisted, smiling kindly.
Ashley nodded, standing. "Yes, and for now, let's go see my room."
Krissy nodded, her smile a little more happy then. "Yes, they promised they'd come for the wedding." She agreed. "I'd never forgive them if they didn't." She added, grinning.
Chris hugged her to him and kissed her head nodding "I miss him too and I miss Krissy so much. She's getting married and I can't believe her life is beginning without me..." he said and watched Parker slide down the stair banister with the new black lab puppy following her excitedly.Mai rubbed his back and frowned watching his facial expressions "Hey...is that a good thing or a bad thing? I thought you liked to guy your sister was marrying?"
Malibu nodded and quickly followed her up to the bedroom, he grinned at the color covered with posters she had in her office plus some boy bands "I can't believe this is where little Ashley lived!"
Danny chuckled "I wouldn't forgive them either...I still don't like that they moved so far away, I mean you and your brother are so close...now your countries away?"
Laila sat with him on a swing on their porch, curling up her knees beside her and just leaning on him. "There have been a lot of big changes." She said softly, shaking her head at Parker's antics. "She's such a strong girl." She added, not wanting to talk about such dreary topics. Jace folded his hands thinking about that. "I just met her… so honestly, I'm happy for her. I haven't known her long her long enough to be sad about her going away." He admitted. That wasn't what was bothering him. It was growing harder and harder to be near her and not be effected.
Ashley smiled shyly as they peeked into her room and she saw all the old posters, still untouched. Her bedspread, a starry night sky, still there. "It's been a long time…" She whispered, walking into the room.
Krissy nodded, biting her lip. "I know." She whispered, and her voice cracked. "I know… I miss him already." She whispered, trying to keep control of her emotions.
Chris poured her a glass of wine and kissed her head and neck "Yeah, but we move forward. Have you seen the school Parker will go to? It's very prestigious and lots of kids she can be friends with."Mai frowned and ran her fingers through his hair "then what is it Jace? I hate seeing you so sad...your my best friend..." she rubbed his shoulder "You can come with us tomorrow if you want?"
((what if we had Mai and one of the guys fall in love and want to get married and that's when he tries to stop the wedding or something?))
Malibu sat on the bed and smiled looking at her books and teddy bears "Cute! It's great Ashley! I wish we could have that as our bedspread at home it's my favorite painting."
Danny hugged her and led her to the picnic spot with the pizza boxes and beer "Come on babe...we can play strip poker if you want?"
Laila nodded in agreement, taking the wine carefully and having a sip. It was better than any she'd had and she smiled. "I am glad that Parker will be taken care of." She said seriously. "She deserves a good school."((If she truly was in love with the dude, he wouldn't break up their wedding. But if she started going out with him, and his feelings continued, he would admit that to her, before things got too serious. Idk. what do you think?))
Jace shook his head. How was he supposed to tell her? He couldn't, if he didn't even understand himself. "I'm sure it's nothing." he assured. "I'm still trying to figure it out myself." Then he wrinkled his nose up. "No way! I'm not going to be a third wheel!"
Ashley moved over to her desk, looking through her shelves of books and movies, and then she smiled softly, turning to look back at him. "I'm glad you like my room. I loved it as a child. Stayed here as a teen too."
Krissy sat down on the blanket, and flipped open the pizza boxes, glad for a change in topic. "Strip poker? Alright. You're on. But you're going down." She warned, grinning at him as she cracked a beer.
Chris nodded his agreement as he watched the sunset over the ocean he took her hand and squeezed it lovingly bringing her knuckles to his lips and nuzzling it "You have not a clue how much I love you Laila..." he whispered meaningfully and caressed her cheek slowly with his metal hand "Still feels so strange...I always wanted to be wolverine but this...isn't what I had in mind."((ok well what if the guy was so in love and she was unsure about it but just wanted to be married and forget about Jace but like he confronts her and there is a dramatic scene of epic romance))
Mai laughed lightly "Sorry, thought Id ask...Id say bring a date but that would be like sticking a pencil in your eye right?" she rolled her eyes but grinned "I just don't like leaving you at home."
Malibu pulled her to the bed and kissed her "How many guys have tried that on this bed?" he whispered grinning at her with a slightly mischievous look in his eyes "Because if your mom wasnt downstairs...I think id want to play the puppy love sick teen again."
Danny laughed "Right, says the girl who ends up just in her socks everytime...which I don't get, socks over underwear really? Not that im complaining."
Laila turned to watch him as he lifted her hand. She blushed, and the colour matched those of the sunset. "You are just about the sweetest man I have ever met." She whispered, flushed. Her smile turned soft as he spoke of his metal hand. She reached up and took it gently in her own, turning it over. It looked the same as his other hand, as it was already healing quite well. "I can't even tell a difference… it's amazing, really, you could have ended up losing the hand entirely." She pointed out. That scientist had been a skilled surgeon, and she would give him that. ((Sounds good! And I guess we can just see how it pans out. It might end up happening completely differently and be just as wonderful :) ))
Jace grunted, shaking his head in what looked like amusement. "Yeah, whatever." His expression only softened when she said she didn't like leaving him alone. "I grew up a single child, Mai, I think I'll be alright for an evening." He promised, his eyes serious. "But thank you."
Ashley raised an eyebrow when he pulled her down and kissed her. She didn't protest, as, in all honesty, she was enjoying this. "Well… many have tried. Those I've actually enjoyed? Hardly any." She laughed softly. "Though you'd be surprised what my mother turned a blind eye to in this house. I was something of a commodity in high school."
Krissy swatted at him in mock annoyance. "I'm going to do better this time, I can feel it." she pulled out the cards and shuffled them slowly, before dealing them both in. She took a drink of the beer and then set it aside, waiting for him to play first. "Alright, wise guy, I'll deal in the socks first this time."
Chris sighed and nodded watching her analyze his hand, on the outside it was a perfect normal hand with no imperfections...on the inside it was a mad scientist nightmare that he wished he could wake up from "I'd rather he have taken the hand then...do this to it, I crush things when trying to hold them...soda cans cant survive around me...I could break every bone in your hand by accident if I'm not mindfull...I hate it..."((so true, but we know a gist of what we want and envision for these two.))
Mai nodded and yawned stretching as she got up slowly and pecked his temple "Good night...don't stay up too long ok?" she asked worried for him but not wanting to be pushy or overbearing...can't show the true feelings she had for her room mate, they made a deal can't go back now.
Malibu shook his head amazed "Why am I not surprised? You probably were the most gorgeous girl in highschool as well as the agency...again, tell me why you ended up with a goofy nerd?" he teased kissing her tenderly.
Chris chuckled and picked two cards "I'll raise you 15...and the panties come off first, with the clothes still on over the top. Gives me something to look forward to." he grinned "And I'll take off my shirt."
Laila bit her lip, hating to hear him talk so mournfully about his hand. She still loved it, loved every part of him, and it hurt her to hear him talk that way. "Hey… none of that. I love every bit of you, even if it has been modified from some wack. I'll always love you. This is your new hand, and I love it because it's part of you." she insisted, kissing his palm, and then each of his fingers. "And I trust you not to crush my bones." She added, smiling playfully. ((For sure :) ))
Jace nodded, looking up as she left. "Goodnight." he said, smiling lightly. Once she was gone he sighed heavily. Wonderful, just wonderful. This was getting far too complicated, and he needed some time off. Shaking his head, he got up and took a cold shower, and went to bed.
Ashley laughed easily at that. "Because I am a goofy nerd!" She said, pulling him closer. "And none of those other boys appealed to me anyways." She kissed him deeply and then just smiled up at him. "Why do you think we're together, silly? I love you." She insisted.
Krissy looked over her hand, and had a very hard time keeping her expression neutral and not looking disappointed. Her hand wasn't the greatest. She took a card, chewing at her lip. "High bet to start so soon…" She said, raising an eyebrow at him. "It's a deal." she played her hand and then sat back. "Your turn." She wasn't folding yet.
Danny shrugged "what if we put it on the wedding registry and someone else can get it for us like your brother?" He offered not wanting to pay that much for a lamp or anything really.
Grace quickly got into her rose pink scrubs and got the tools "alright gown up mister."
