McKensie and Lara II :)
((kk :) ))Laila was exhausted after all the excitement, but she was smiling. She had just overcome her worst and primary fear, and found that there really was no reason for her to be afraid at all. Yes, it had been a little uncomfortable at first, but Chris had made it every bit as wonderful as Kenna had explained. She smiled, curling up so she was tucked against Chris. "Thank you." She whispered. "For waiting for me."
Chris leaned in close and kissed down her arm and kissed her hand "love you...you were worth the wait, I've never been so sated...so alive...you are amazing Laila...are you ok? We can go have a warm bath or I could get a heating bag for you..." He offered and stroke her thigh.
Laila blushed, nodding slowly. "Thank you." She whispered, smiling a little brighter. "You're not so bad yourself." She teased, kissing his nose. "I'm alright. We did just have a shower, but both those things sound nice." She admitted. It was her first time in a long while, and only her second ever, so she was a little sore. But so happy, more happy than she had been in a long time. She wasn't afraid any longer.
Chris slowly got up and put his shorts on before he got the heating pad and got it heated up just enough so it wouldn't burn her. He eased it between her legs "that feel alright?" He asked softly and kissed her temple wanting her comfortable as possible. He grabbed some tea and placed it on the night stand carefully.
Laila sat up a little on the bed, propping a pillow behind her back as Chris got up and got dressed, grabbing the heating pad. She shifted so she was comfortable and nodded. It was the right temperature and it was immediately soothing. She smiled nodding. "That's perfect." She reached out and pulled him down beside her, kissing his cheek. "Thank you."
Chris nodded and nuzzled her "good...I'm glad, was it worth the wait or is there anything that I can do next time to make it better?" He asked wanting to please her in everyway, he loved her and he knew he could be...aggressive."
Laila blushed softly and tucked her face against him, smiling. "Most definitely worth the wait." She whispered, kissing his jaw. "You have to remember I haven't had much experience." She whispered. "So… it was worlds better from my first time." She reminded, her smile soft.
Chris smiled lightly and nudged her "good, I'm glad...I love you." He whispered and kissed down her wrist "have you had a good vacation? We'll be going back home tomorrow." He reminded and smiled "then dinner with your brother."
Laila smiled, giggling softly as his kisses were rather tickly. "The vacation was wonderful Chris." She said honestly. "I'm sad that its ending." She admitted, smiling up at him, her nose brushing against his. "It's been lovely spending time with you." She assured. But she was nervous. Very nervous. She didn't know how this meeting with her brother would go. She was starting to think up excuses for why she couldn't go any longer. Maybe she was sick. Yeah, that would be good.
Chris raised a brow "Laila...you promised him you'll be there." He read her like a book most of the time and she was starting to crinkle her nose obviously coming up with a fib to use against dinner. "If you say your sick I'll take you to the doctor." He warned with a smirk "then I'll still drag you there..."
Laila groaned and flopped back against the headboard. How could he do that!? Laila didn't think of herself as someone easy to read. But then again… she never saw herself and what she was doing. Or… well. Chris could just be good at reading people. Either way, didn't really help her situation. Laila opened one eye to glare at him. "You wouldn't…."
Chris smirked "oh I would...and then they'll note in their system that you haven't had your vaccines or a full exam..." He mused "so an hour of torture just out of an excuse I don't think that's your smartest idea ever...now what are you afraid of?"
Laila's eyes widened as he talked, and then she frowned deeply, scrunching up her whole face. "I hate you." she grumbled. She huffed out slowly… that was the real problem in this whole thing. She was afraid, again. Afraid of seeing her brother. Afraid that he'd changed. Afraid that he really did hate her, or didn't love her anymore. Or that he had a good reason for leaving. That hurt the most. Because she hadn't seen him for so long. "Everything." She mumbled. "I haven't seen my twin in four years, Chris. My twin."
Chris tried not to let the 'I hate you' get to him, he knew she wasn't serious but it still was a fear of his "hey hey...hey." He whispered and nuzzled her "do not be afraid, he is so excited to see you...I bet he's worried too but it's time you clear the air afterall he practically owns part of your soul...you were scared about us renember? And you did it...three times in fact."
Laila leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder. She sucked her bottom lip into her mouth and chewed it. "I…" she huffed out slowly. That was true. She had conquered one fear… Laila blushed fiercely and shook her head, smiling embarrassedly as she turned her face into his shoulder. "That's true." She whispered. "But… but… Agh. You haven't met Mali… he's not… he doesn't…" She shook her head, not sure what she was trying to explain. Her brother wasn't insensitive. And neither was she. The split would have been damaging for both of them.
Chris sighed and tilted her face up out of his shoulder and caressed her face "it isn't you or him, I'm sure your both scared and I bet it'll be good to have his partner and me with you guys...we'll keep the conversation going..." He assured and kissed her softly "don't be scared...pretend he's Andrew, your just going to see your brother..."
Laila's eyes met his when he tilted her chin and she looked at him for a moment before nodding slowly. "Thank you." She whispered, closing her eyes again, rather tiredly. "For agreeing to come along." She huffed out through pursed lips. Going to see Mali was nothing like going to see Andrew. Andrew had always been an older brother. Malibu? Well… he wasn't a reliable older brother to look up to. Laila just hoped she survived this supper, and didn't end up murdering whoever her twin's boyfriend was. It wasn't fair that he loved someone else when he ignored her for so many years. "Chris… if it's not working, or we're just fighting or something, can we leave right away?" She asked softly.
Chris sighed and checked his clock "how about 9, if it isn't going well we leave fair? But I want you to try ok? This isn't an interrogation or a court of law. Be kind to his partner as you would wish people to be kind to me." He nipped her ear and smiled "I love you...this will be fine alright? I'll get you gelato afterwards deal?"
Laila nodded, relaxing a little in relief once she knew that she at least had an escape if it really wasn't going well. But to stay till nine? That was a pretty long time. What if she didn't even survive that long? Laila swallowed and nodded. "Alright." She said softly. "I'll try." She purposely didn't say anything about the whole be nice to his partner thing. Yeah, she got it, but no one had ignored their sibling in favour of Chris. That had happened in this whole partner case, and so Laila found the situations a little different. She didn't say this however, as she didn't want to talk about Malibu's boyfriend at all. She smiled softly and leaned back, letting herself relax under his touch. "Alright." She said softly. "Deal."That evening seemed to pass by much too quickly, and before Laila even knew it, she was packing up the next afternoon and getting ready to head off back home. She hated the thought of going back to reality. And was growing more and more nervous of the approaching meeting with Malibu. The only thing that made this whole event better, was that she got to have gelato with Chris after, and then she was going home to stay at his place, permanently.
Chris drove in his truck towards the little apartment that the dinner was supposed to be held, it was only 5 miles away from Andrew's place and it was fairly nice. He squeezed her hand and heloed her out of the truck "deep breaths..." He whispered to her and knocked on the door waiting patiently.Malibu was standing on the other side his heart pounding as well, he slowly opened it and smiled lightly "come in..." He led her inside. The house was quite similar to that of an artist studio, he was a hipster to the skinny jeans up to his dark rimmed glasses. But it appeared that he lived alone. "First thing you should know...I'm not gay." He said with a small smile "I'm quite fond of girls if I was allowed to date I would."
Laila was all nerves by the time they got to Malibu's place, and she squeezed Chris's hand for strength and comfort. When Malibu answered, she just stared for a moment. He had changed. He had lost his baby fat, no longer a boy. But he still had that boyish look about him. She had no doubt he always would. This was Malibu, and he had changed so much, Laila was worried she didn't know him anymore. But she would still recognize him anywhere. She peered around his apartment, noting how well it suited her brother. She was prepared to start asking questions, but Malibu answered one of hers first. "Not gay?" She repeated, shocked. That was the whole reason this all had come about, wasn't it? He had left because he was gay. When he came back again, their parents sent him to boarding school because of it. He had been gone for three years because he was gay, and now he was saying he wasn't gay at all, and there was no reason for him to leave!? "Not allowed?" She repeated softly, growing more agitated. "What do you mean?"
Malibu put a hand up waiting for her anger to simmer down "it was either pretend I was dead or get kicked out of the house, so I choose pretending to be gay. My 'partner' is my work partner. I didn't go to a special boarding school for the gays I went to FBI agent secret society training. I couldn't contact you because it was against the rules for me to let anyone know...for 3 years I was undercover in Europe. I couldn't tell you because it would risk your life and I couldn't let that happen..." He showed her his badges and information.
Laila's eyes widened further and further as she spoke, and she knew she had paled a couple shades. Well she hadn't been expecting that at all. She felt suddenly lightheaded, and found herself stumbling back against the wall, her hands white as she found a nearby table to grip and regain her balance. Her brother… was a… was in the FBI? Laila knew her mouth had gone dry. "W-what?" She repeated, her mind just trying to process all this information. But then… how…? How even had her brother, the writer, become an agent? She couldn't see him holding a gun for the life of him. But then maybe she didn't know him as well as she thought she did. And that scared her.
Malibu sighed "I'm not in the field Lay don't worry, I carry a gun never had used it and never hope I will need to." He admitted with a slight shrug "I am in charge of the technical side of things, creating back stories and missions...they noticed my writing awhile back and took me away thinking I was a spy because it matched a mission of theirs. Once they found I was innocent they hired me...I always wanted to do something useful with my life get away from mom and Eric...but I couldn't take you with me and that hurt the most. I always left messages but they got erased by the system no contact whatsoever till now..." He sighed "on the phone and letters I have to be gay my apartment is the only safe place to work and be free."
Well that did suit him incredibly well. Laila could see that. He always had been a talented writer. At least… she had always thought so. Apparently others did too. But he had still left. Left with no word, escaping their horrid family and leaving her behind, trying to patch together half a heart. "But you could have warned me. You left with no word at all, you could have said something cryptic like 'Laila I have to go away for a while, I don't want to leave you but I can't tell you why I have to go' or something like that!" She said, feeling her emotions rolling up in her like an oncoming storm cloud. "I would have believed you, Mali, you know I would have. I would have worried away over it but at least I wouldn't have thought you hated me!" She said, her voice cracking. She turned then, running out to the truck. She reached in the back and scooped out a box that was so jam packed it was almost too heavy for her to lift, and Laila was not weak. She carried it inside and set it at his feet, her eyes holding a sort of sudden lack of emotion. "These are your letters. Every one of them returned to me. 1095 letters, one for every day you were gone." She whispered, wanting him to know. Wanting him to know that she hadn't given up. Wanting him to know what she had gone through, what those three years had been like. What he had missed. She had poured her soul into those letters, and each one had been rejected. She had not given up until the very end, and by then, he had come back too late.
Mali watched her run and by this time he was in tears, he wasnt ashamed of being a sensitive guy and that's why most people weren't that fazed with the being gay lie. He heard the thud and shut his eyes tightly pulling out his guitar case that was supposedly empty since the instrument was by his bed, he shook out letters about the same amount of hers. They all were marked in red making them nearly illegible "this is every reply that I tried to write...they all got X out no matter what I did...I had to seal everyone of those letters making it seem like I never got them...I couldn't keep a single one though I tried...I tried." He repeated swallowing "I was so excited to come home but then...you weren't available anymore...you didn't want me as your brother...I went to your school a couple of times...then I chickened out I guess..."
Laila stared at the letters on the floor, all marked with red x's. They were addressed to her, in her brother's handwriting. He had tried to write? He had read her letters… and she had never gotten any of his. It was so unfair. Laila finally felt herself lose control of her emotions and the tears filled her eyes. "Mali…" She whispered. He thought she didn't want him as her brother? Laila's knees were suddenly weak and she sank down onto his couch, holding her head in her hands. "I always loved you Mali." She whispered. "But when you were gone, I… I lost half my heart, Mali. I… I couldn't see you again. I thought… I thought you hated me, I couldn't bear to see you just to have you hate me… it hurt too much even thinking of it… and I wanted…" She choked on her tears, and shook her head, continuing a little softer. "I kind of wanted you to know what it felt like those three years, when you left me alone." She said softly, the tears running freely.
Malibu held her close to him on the couch, he rubbed her back "Lay...I could never hate you...you are my sister, my twin my other half. You are the only one that understood me, kept me focused on my dream of writing...I owe all of this to you." He smiled handing her a small wrapped present it was a crystal bird from Austria "I saw this and thought of you...been saving it for three birthdays..."
Laila curled up against him, realizing then that he had beat her by a couple inches in height. But she didn't mind anymore. She had him back and that was all that mattered. "I missed you Mali." She whispered. "I missed you more than anything else." She said as she took the small package he handed her. She opened it slowly and peered down at the delicate bird. "Mali!" She exclaimed. "It's beautiful! Where did you get it?" she asked, as she had never seen something so well made.
Malibu smiled knowing the look on her face was priceless and he could store that in his memory forever to know that his sister loved him. He chuckled lightly "you've always been little bird to me so when I saw this in a shop in Austria I knew it'd be perfect...this bird has been through a lot." He admitted "I got caught and sent to prison for some time they destroyed everything else that was mine but I kept the box safe..." He sighed "but I wanted to smash it to bits when you left the room that day...and never returned any of my calls..." He admitted quietly and sighed again "anyways it's all good now."
Laila gently pulled out the bird and cradled it in the palm of her hand, looking down at the delicate wings and beak. It looked as if it could come alive in her hands. It was beautiful, and her brother thought of her as this? Laila felt her heart melt. And then tear as he told her his side of her leaving. She felt sick. She gently replaced the bird in its box and wrapped her arms around Mali. "I'm so sorry." She whispered. She ruffled his hair then, smiling meekly. "It's shorter…" she commented. "I guess I've missed a lot." She said softly, the regret evident in her voice.
Mali smiled and played with her hair softly "and yours is so much longer it's pretty I like it...and you have a new guy, he better be treating you right or I'll have an assassin come at night and take care of business." He said honestly and gave her a nuggie like when they were kids again. "I cooked up a nice meal for us come on in, my partner will be here later."
Laila blushed, shaking her head. "Not that much longer…" she said, tucking a strand behind her ear. Then her eyes widened and she elbowed him. "Don't you dare." She said seriously. "I love him. And yes, we're dating." She pushed him off her head and rolled her eyes. Then she got up, smiling softly. "You can cook!?" She exclaimed. "When did you learn that?" She peered around him, trying to see into the kitchen.
Malibu chuckled and shook his head smiling at Chris "she has never used the L word before, you must be something else...better be treating my sister like a goddess!"Chris chuckled "I'm trying my best, still learning but don't worry she's getting taken care of." He assured with a smile and nudged Laila.
Mali laughed out loud when she peeked her head around "you learn these things living by yourself! Stop being nosy go sit!" He said leading them to the very modern dining table with chairs that twisted out.
Laila blushed, shaking her head. "You guys! Stop it. No ganging up on me." She complained, elbowing them both simultaneously as she passed. "Chris is great at taking care of me." She promised. She peered around at his fancy kitchen and dining table, and carefully slid herself into one of the seats, tucking up against the table. "Ok, fancy man. Show me what you cooked." She said, smirking over at her brother.
Malibu chuckled he heard the door and went and got it "hey Brandon come on in, my sister and her date are already sitting down." He motioned his partner into the kitchen "guys this is Brandon he's my work partner." He grabbed the food from the oven "vegetable and meat lasagna with frozen rolls, nothing too fancy." He smiled grabbing the hot mitts.
Laila looked up as a new boy came in and she smiled shyly, giving a small wave. Since her brother wasn't actually gay, she had less problems with being nice to this guy. Brandon smiled and waved back, moving to sit at the other end of the table. "Hi guys." he said, smiling softly. He figured they were tame enough. Laila looked exactly like Mali, just female. And that was interesting to see.
Laila looked up as Mali grabbed the food and she shook her head. "Nothing too fancy? It's a considerable improvement from Kraft dinner, Mali, I'm proud." she teased.
Mali chuckled "aw thanks Lay...Brandon pretty much gets sick of my lasagna and enchiladas I think I'm obsessed with my cassrol pan." He shook his head serving them all "anyone want wine?"Chris shook his head "none for me please, I'm trying to stay sober"
Malibu blinked kind of upset that she was dating an alcoholic "yeah thats ok, do you want some Laila?"
Laila smiled as he served her, and reached under the table and squeezed Chris's hand. It never ceased to warm her heart when he proved time and time again how he had changed, and was still trying to be a better person for her and Krissy, and himself. Laila did catch Malibu looking at Chris in a glance she knew all too well, and she sent a warning look his way. She wasn't going to have them not getting along. She loved them both too much for that. But she smiled, so everything stayed lighthearted and nodded. "Yeah. I'll have some. Thank you." She said, holding out her glass. Laila had always loved wine. Brandon smiled, not missing any of the interactions between everyone. he was an agent after all, and trained to pick up on small things. It was easy to see that these two loved each other. The boy being a previous alcoholic, and who knew what else. Typical bad boy, good girl scenario, and here was the suspicious brother. In truth, he found it amusing to watch.
Chris shook his head "no it's ok, Mali im a past alcoholic and drug abuser, I'm changing and I do a lot to keep myself sober and alright. Laila's my angel she helps me everyday." He said honestly and smiled at Brandon "what's if like being an agent? How'd you become one?"
Laila smiled softly at Chris, so proud of him for being outright and honest. She blushed at his compliment and took a sip of her whine, starting on the food then. "Real good Mali." she complimented. "Better than I thought it would be." she said, teasing as she smiled at him. Brandon grinned a little at Chris, shrugging. "You're on your toes all the time, that's for sure." he admitted, swallowing a bite of the rolls. "I was recruited off the streets." he admitted. "sharpshooter in a gang and i guess they noticed me. No one really knows the system for recruiting. But it seems to work, so no one questions it." he shrugged.
Chris nodded interested "huh, that's really interesting I've always had dreams of being an agent, but I have a really tough time controlling my temper." He said honestly "so I'm doing engineering now, it's not as exciting."Malibu grinned lightly "thanks Lai I have a birthday cake in the fridge, I'm making everyone sing happy birthday to you Lai because I know you hate it so much." He chuckled "can you believe we are 25 now? It's like real adulthood! Have you ever told Chris about the time you popped out of the cake naked when we were 6?"
Brandon nodded in understanding, and smiled. "Engineering? Now that's a job I couldn't do." he said seriously, scrunching up his face. "All the technical stuff. Sounds like lots of fun though. Being an agent isn't at all as glamorous as they make it in the movies, just so you know. Its just another job." He shrugged. "Granted, a stressful one."Laila rolled her eyes. "Yeah. No thanks. No singing. It's your birthday too, doofus, have you forgotten?" She asked. Her smile was hesitant. "Sure don't feel like I'm 25. It came around so quickly." Then she groaned, wiping both hands down over her eyes. "No! Spare me and don't speak of that again… that is so horribly embarrassing…." she moaned. "You better not still have the picture!"
Chris nodded "it's probably really important! Are you allowed to have friends and date? Or do you have to have a different identity for each person?" He blinked hearing the word nude and grinned "oh this I have to hear!"Malibu laughed grabbing the picture off the fridge "one time we were at a party in our very classy...note the sarcasm neughborhood we saw dancers pop out of a cake and Laila apparently was inspired...do you want to tell the rest Lai?"
Brandon shrugged. "yeah, I suppose. We're allowed to have… friends. But no dating." his smile was rather sad. "Too many complications." He then glanced over at the picture Malibu had in his hands and chuckled softly to himself. He had seen this one on the fridge before, and he was interested to hear the story behind it. Laila's eyes widened. "You still have it!?" she jumped out of her seat and reached to try and snatch it away so she could burn the horrid thing once and for all. "You! You kept it!" As he started telling the story she groaned and covered her face, shaking her head. "Make it stop. No more… please. Spare me. This is torture I tell you! Have mercy on your dear sister!" She flopped back in her chair, willing herself to sink into the floor.
Chris laughed lightly and grinned "well keep going Malibu!" He grinned and took the picture before she could snatch it "look at that cute bum!" He praised and laughed "so why naked?" Malibu chuckled "she didn't want to get in trouble for getting her clothes dirty...so she stripped nude and tucked into the cake and starting happy birthday shd popped up out of the cake in front of all our friends and family."
Laila sent a glare in Chris's direction in response to his comment. "You're not helping at all." She complained, staring horrified at Malibu as he continued the story. She shot him an 'I will murder you' look and then moaned as he kept talking. She wrapped her arms around her head and shook it, trying to be invisible. "I was six!" She squeaked in protest as Brandon had started laughing by the end of the story. Why did Mali bring this up!? She had thought it might be a fun thing to do at the time. But it was so embarrassing now. Not to mention that she would never forget the spanking she got for it.
Chris smiled and hugged his girl knowing she was upset "I think it's the cutest story I have ever heard, don't be upset love..,we all have embarrassing stories that are fun to talk about. I've told you plenty." He reminded and smiled at Mali.Mali chuckled "not as bad as mom and Eric catching me and my girl having sex in the backseat of the car. You have an excuse of age, I was just an idiot and you didn't let me live that down."
Laila smiled softly, feeling much better about the whole thing after that and she leaned her head on Chris's shoulder, glad he knew how to make everything better. "Yeah I suppose so." She grinned over at Mali, shaking her head. "You were much too young! That's all!" She said seriously, as she remembered being rather distressed when she had found out about that incident. In truth, she had teased him for days. Then she thought of something. "Is it tough not having a girlfriend anymore?" She asked, on a more serious note.

Chris was laying in bed with her, he stroke her soft skin and smiled softly too overwhelmed to speak. He kissed her gently and rested his head in the crook of her shoulder inhaling her perfect scent and pulling her closet the sheets over them. He had never smiled so much afterwards, usually he smoked or drank and kicked them out...this was special and he knew she was the one.
