McKensie and Lara II :)
Luke nodded. He gently pulled her hands away from the mess and kissed her. "Let's go watch a movie. I'll pop popcorn and I can get out a couple blankets for the couch." He suggested. "We can relax. How does that sound?" He whispered, wanting to spend some good time with her where they weren't stressing.Laila was a little surprised by his comment though she knew she shouldn't have been. Her smile was bright then and she nodded, reaching over to kiss is cheek. "That means a lot. But don't give up on the kid yet, ok? I need to work out how I feel about all of this first." She said seriously. "It isn't a definite yes and it isnt a definite no either." She squeezed his hand. "I'm happy you shared your dreams with me."
Kenna nodded and curled up in her favorite blanket on the coach, her mind couldn't help but wander to the night when this all started. She looked up at him and smiled "hi handsome...that popcorn had better have butter!" She said with a teasing smile.Chris smiled and nudged her "your my favorite dream Laila...one that I still think I will wake up from and back to my old life..." He parked at the dorm and got out to open her door "is he expecting you?"
Luke smiled and got busy, grabbing the popcorn bag and a bowl. He popped the corn and poured it into the bowl. Then he grinned. "I'll add some butter." He promised, melting some in a separate bowl. He poured it over the popcorn and then brought it over to her, putting it on her lap and going to turn the tv on. Laila blushed softly, shaking her head as the smile grew. "You're too kind." She said, sliding out of the car as he opened the door. "Andrew is expecting me." She confirmed. "I called him be fore we left." She walked up to her brother's door and knocked, before stepping back and waiting expectantly.
Kenna smiled and pulled him by his belt to her, she snuggled up close leaning her head on his shoulder as she munched on the popcorn, her body was saying she was starving but it was unnerving eating before the movie started. "What are we watching this time Skywalker?"Andrew opened the door and smiled "hey Squush come on in." He blinked seeing Chris in the truck "ah so you are with the guy? I have a feeling this drama involves him somehow."
Luke grinned, letting himself get tugged beside her. He settled on the couch, one arm around her shoulders. "I picked a Rom Com." He said, smiling brightly. He found them predictable, but he knew Kenna liked them, and he wanted to lighten the mood. "It's called the Confessions of a Shopaholic." He said, playing with the ends of her hair as the movie started.Laila grinned when the door opened and she immediately hugged her brother. Then she stepped back and punched him lightly. "Yeah, you're right, but be nice! He came to meet you so don't embarrass me ok?" She glanced at the truck and smiled, letting Chris know it was ok, before she motioned him over to say hi.
Kenna grinned "oh I love this movie! I've always wanted a green scarf like hers, and she's just so gorgeous! I couldn't pull off red hair," she chatted easily feeling more at ease and comfortable. Luke was amazing at making shift changes, changing the energy of the mood with music a movie or laughter.((Do you want to play Andrew for a split second?))
Chris turned off the truck and came out checking himself in the side mirror before going next to Laila his arm around her securely yet lovingly.
Luke smiled, glad that he had managed to make her smile. "I'm glad you approve of my choice." He said, looking up at the screen as the movie started. "I'll remember to buy you a green scarf." He said, kissing her forehead gently as the first scene started. He was most thankful that she was now relaxed.((Sure. Might be a little strange to play your charrie but yeah I guess. Just for when Chris is here :) ))
Andrew smiled, ruffling her hair. "Can't promise anything goose." Laila smacked his hand away and glared at him, before turning to Chris and smiling brightly again when he put his arm around her. "Chris, Andrew, Andrew, Chris." She said.
Andrew smiled and held out his hand to shake. "So you're the man I've heard so much about. You've been taking care of my lil sis alright?"
Kenna lay on his lap smiling watching one of the best scenes, she felt so comfortable and free for a minute. It was exactly what she needed she turned up to look at him and smiled "I think I need a kiss."((Thank you!))
Chris smiled and nodded shaking his hand "of course, I wouldn't dare treat her otherwise." He smiled at her "she deserves so much more." He pecked her cheek "call me later tonight ok?" He smiled at Andrew "pleasure to finally meet you."
Luke was actually getting more into this movie than he liked to admit. He enjoyed the acting, and the story was sweet enough. He glanced down when Kenna asked something, and it took a second for it to register in his mind. When he did figure out what she had said, he grinned. He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers gently, holding onto it for a moment before resting his forehead against hers and smiling. "Good enough?"((np :P ))
Laila blushed, and then looked down, not wanting to give her brother more reason to tease her. But she nodded at Chris. "Yeah, I'll call you." she promised, squeezing his hand quickly in goodbye.
Andrew slid his hands in his pockets and nodded politely at Chris. "You as well man, take care." He said.
Laila watched as Chris left to visit his mother, before she turned to Andrew and smiled sheepishly. "Thanks for not doing anything stupid."
Kenna shook her head and held the kiss longer really exploring his mouth and holding him close "I love you so much Luke...just make me forget tonight, I want to be with you...it won't hurt the baby..."Andrew chuckked "I'm not horrible goose, I love you...lets get inside I think it might rain." He looked out the window and saw the dark clouds "it'll be a little crazy tonight." He held her close and grabbed a juice box "so I'm proposing to Enily this Saturday. Want to see the ring?"
Luke happily obliged her in kissing again, and he tangled his hands up in her hair. The credits for the film were rolling, but he hardly noticed. His smile was gentle as he showered her face in kisses. "Are you quite sure?" He asked, raising an eyebrow, a teasing smile forming on his face. Laila smiled, rolling her eyes at his first comment. "Luv you too." She mumbled as she looked outside at the gathering clouds. She hoped it wouldn't rain too heavy. Thunderstorms scared her. Not many things scared Laila, but thunder was one of them. She wrapped her arm around Andrew, hugging him back and smiled. "Of course I want to see it!" She said, thrilled. Rings were something girly, but they were sweet and totally romantic, so naturally she was excited to see the one he had picked.
Kenna nodded eagerly and smiled lovingly "show me what you've got Skywalker, I love you...I need you, it's going to rain and I think rain is so romantic..,just me and you snuggled up in the covers."Andrew smiled and grabbed the ring off of the kitchen counter, he showed her the simple ring elegant with diamonds and pink sapphires "think it's good enough for her? She didn't give me an idea of what she wanted." He jumped at the thunder and the Lightning cracking across the sky "is your boyfriend a good driver?"
Luke laughed then, kissing her nose. "As you wish." He whispered, quoting another movie favourite. He pulled the blankets up around them so they were all snuggled in, and then pulled her into his arms, leaning down to kiss her again. Laila waited in anticipation until he brought out the ring and her eyes lit up. "Its so beautiful!" She exclaimed. "She'd have to be crazy not to like it." she assured, When lightening streaked across the sky, Laila squeaked in fear and bolted over to Andrew, wrapping her arms around him. But what he said sent more fear through her than the lightening did. Her eyes widened. "I sure hope so." She whispered.
((lol. I was wondering about that. Might as well add some drama, but how that plays out is up to you. Depends on how crazy u want to make it. :P))
Kenna kissed him deeply and smiled "farm boy...will you take me to bed?" She whispered against his lips knowing the coach was a very small space and honestly she never wanted to do it on a coach.Chris was driving home, a deer came out of no where and he swerved flipping over a ditch and crashing. He was still concious as he tried to contact someone but his body was pinned and he was unable to do anything.
Andrew held her tightly and kissed her head "I'll make some hot cocoa, you just relax on the coach. So what's going on? It seems like the guy is completely in love with you."
Luke laughed softly, nuzzling his nose against her neck. "As you wish." He whispered, lifting her to carry her still in the blankets into the other room where he lay her gently on his bed. He bent over her and kissed her, smiling. "Better?" He asked.Laila grinned, happy to have such an amazing brother. "Thank you." She said, moving over to the couch where she curled up on it and made herself comfortable. Then she swallowed. "He wants to adopt Kennas kid, and he wants me to be the mother." She said, getting it over with. "After what happened with my last child, I feel guilty saying yes to this one when I said no to my own kid." She mumbled.
Kenna smiled and nodded kissing him back passionately, it was hard to arch up to meet him when she was so heavy in the front. She shifted so she was lying on her side next to him. Andrew frowned handing her the cup "wow, that is some drama...does he know how you feel about it Laila? Or have you just stayed quiet as you do getting his hope's up?" He sat by her taking her hand "your last baby wasn't your baby, you know that...it was forced upon you and no one expected you to keep it..." He whispered still wanting to kill that boy "but this baby...it's loved and will be loved by Kenna and Chris, you don't have to be the full time caregiver, you arent living with Chris or married. It's like those single mom's that date."
Luke moved as she did so they were both more comfortable, wrapping his arms around her. He smiled lightly, happy to be with her. "Are you doing alright?" He asked, his voice soft as it felt like on of those moments when talking was just too loud. The silence was to be cherished.Laila looked down at her lap and fidgited, feeling badly after how bluntly Andrew put her not telling Chris. "I haven't told him." She whispered. "I don't want to disappoint him, but I'm not even sure what my answer is yet." She mumbled, embarrassed. She knew he was right though, about the last baby, but it didn't make her feel any better about it. She would always feel guilt and regret about that child, not to mention fear that had come along with that circumstance.
The police called the last person that Chris had contacted on his phone, which happened to be Kenna and Luke. She frowned seeing Luke's phone glow on the night stand. She handed him his phone sitting up and covering herself with the sheets.Andrew froened playing with her hair "what do you want me to say goose?...you know the answer your just scared to admit it...I think Cheis just wants you to be honest with him, the boy deserves that much right?"
Luke glanced over at his phone, frowning in confusion when he saw the number. Why would he be called by the police? And at this hour of the night? Worried, he picked up his phone and slid to answer the call. Raising the phone to his ear, he smiled briefly at Kenna. "Hello?" He said into the receiver.Laila nodded, leaning her head on his shoulder. Of course he was right. He was always right, she just didn't like to admit it. "Yeah I know." She whispered, heaving out a sigh as she gave in. "Ok, ok I'll talk to him about it." She said, smiling finally. She tipped her head back to look up at him. "You should be a lawyer, you're very convincing."
The police frowned "hello, are you acquainted with the name Christopher Matthews? We found your number on his phone." He said seriously, Kenna grabbed his arm wanting to listen in. She was worried about the police calling him, what was going on?Andrew poked her nose and smiled "it's too dry of a job goose, I'd die in that stuffy suit." He was a men's gymnast and he loved being free and skateboarding and being well Andrew.
Luke's frown only deepens at what the police said. Why were they calling about Razor? Was this a bail call? Had he landed himself in jail? "Yes. I'm a..." What was he to Razor exactly? Something of a friend, if a reluctant one. ".... Friend." He finished. "Is everything alright?" He asked, hoping to find out what exactly was going on.Laila laughed, shaking her head. She could not see her brother in a suit. "Well I guess that's true." She conceded. "However, you are going to have to wear a suit to your wedding." She reminded. "Not sure how much your girl would like to see you showing up in sneakers. " she teased. She still smiled even though it hurt to say he had any other girl that wasn't her. It had always just been her and Andrew, and now it wasn't anymore.
The police sighed "there's been an accident, I need you to come to the hospital, does he have any family we can contact? We couldn't find much information except his phone."Andrew ruffled her hair "goose you've always got me ok? I love you...and I love my wife, but your my sister no ones replacing you. Unless you want me to be jealous of your new boyfriend."
Luke's lips parted in shock. He had not been expecting that at all. "He has a sister." He replied slowly, "but she is younger. I can inform his girlfriend for you." He offered. He got up, smoothing through his hair and straightening his clothes. "We'll be right over." He promised, hanging up again. "Razor got in an accident." He told Kenna. "We have to go to the hospital. Can you call Laila and tell her?"Laila smiled, reassured by what he said. He always seemed to know what was bothering her. She hugged him, glad she had such an amazing sibling. "Thanks Ands, that means a lot. But no, you don't need to be jealous of Chris." She said, smiling brightly. She frowned then, when her phone started ringing and she picked it up. "Hello?"
Kenna was shocked and nodded calling Laila as she got dressed "hey love...you need to go to the hospital, first pick up Krissy...there was an accident the police just called Luke." She said balancing her phone on her shoulder
Laila paled considerably. Getting Krissy only meant one thing. Chris was in the hospital again, but this time, it was an accident. She jumped off the couch, grabbing her jacket. "Is Chris alive?" She asked, worried. She glanced at Andrew in panic, conveying that she was sorry and she had to go.
Andrew quickly grabbed his keys helping her to his car, she obviously had no transportation and wasn't thinking straight. He waited till she was off the phone to get the address of where she needed to be headed. Kenna nodded "yeah he's alive...he's not in critical care either so I'm sure he'll be ok...sweety im driving there right now. I'll call you when we get there...don't panic yet."
Laila followed Andrew out to the car, nodding the whole time as Kenna spoke. Chris was alive. That sent a wave of relief through her, but she was still worried about his condition. Would he be able to leave the hospital soon? Or had he broken anything? Was there any lasting damage? A million thoughts ran through her mind. "Ok... Ok..." She breathed, trying to calm down. "I'll see you soon. Bye for now." she said quickly, turning off her phone as she hopped into the car. She looked at Andrew. "Can we stop by my Uni first? We have to pick up Chris's little sister and then head to the hospital. There was an accident."Luke grabbed his keys and his jacket, leaving the apartment and getting into the car. He started it up, turning on the heat as the engine turned over a couple times and then started up. He rubbed his hands together and waited in the car as the rain continued to fall outside. Come on Kenna, we've got to go. He thought.
Andrew nodded and drove to the apartment that she directed, he watched her walk out with a very it seemed traumatized pre-teen. The girl clung to Laila like she was her life line or something.Kenna got in the car and shook out her wet hair "sorry had to leave a message with my parents, they get antsy when I don't reply...you don't think he's really hurt do you?"
Laila had scrambled into the apartment, finding Krissy and waking her up as gently as she could. She had told her what had happened and where they were going, and then come out with her again. She ran through the rain to the car, climbing into the back seat with Krissy where she held the girl in her arms, glancing at Andrew in thanks. "It'll be alright." She whispered to Krissy. Luke looked up when Kenna joined him and he smiled in understanding, putting the car in reverse as he left the driveway. "That's totally fine." He assured, starting up the car down the road towards the hospital. "I have no idea how bad it is." He said honestly. "he might really be banged up, or he could just be fine." He shrugged.
Andrew parked at the hospital and asked the front desk for Chris's room, the nurse led them to the room. Chris looked up and grinned he was battered and covered in bandages but he was still Chris "there's my two girls, did you hear what they did to my truck?"
Laila and Krissy were both desperate to see Chris, so when the nurse led them, they were practically dancing around on their toes. Finally the door opened and they both rushed in. Krissy immediately pounced on Chris, hugging him tight and crying softly, but Laila stood back and watched, a breath of relief escaping her when she saw he was alive and awake. It still hurt her to see him so battered. She smiled weakly. "I don't know if I want to know..." She shook her head. "Is it salvageable?"
Chris groaned and huggec his sister "I think the doctor's need to do another x-Ray...you might have broke more bones." He teased and kissed her hair "tough Krissy crying...what is this world coming to?" He smiled at Laila "you weren't worried were you? My tough girls." He sighed laying back "they are going to try and save it, but seriously if it's going to cost me a butt load of money is it worth it?"
Krissy smiled weakly, shaking her head a little. "I'm not that brave you know." She mumbled. She lightened up on her hold. "Sorry about crushing your bones." She said sheepishly, tucking herself beside him. She wiped at her eyes furiously. Laila smiled weakly and shook her head, of course denying that she was worried. However, it did show on her face. "Naw... just concerned." She said, shrugging. She moved to the end of his bed, sighing softly. "I'm sorry about your truck. I'm happy to work a little extra to help pay for it." She offered, truly sad that he was losing his truck.
Chris held her close trying to help calm her down, he kissed her head and nuzzled her "I've got you Kriss..." He promised and sighed looking at Laila "I couldn't ask you to do that love, I probably have enough and if we can get it running again that's all that matters, the rest is cosmetic..." He reached for her hand with his bandaged one.
Kriss nodded, yawning. She couldn't help it. She had been woken up in the middle of the night to be dragged to the hospital. The stress didn't help. She was exhausted. She tucked her face against her brother and in seconds she was sleeping. Laila smiled softly, reaching out and taking his hand, giving it a careful squeeze. "You didn't have to ask. I offered." She assured. "I want to help." she said seriously. "Its the least I could do..." she glanced down at his bandaged form rather sadly. "especially after I got you into this mess in the first place."
Chris pulled her to him and pecked her lips softly "I don't think you did..,you weren't the deer and you didn't make it rain, if I recall thunder terrifies you." He stroke her cheek "I'm just glad im ok...I'm glad you weren't in the truck and I'm glad that I have people that care about me..." He sighed tiredly "they said they called Luke, the guy must be pissed being woken up..."
Laila shifted so she was sitting beside him, and she smiled lightly. "I suppose you're right." She agreed, glad he remembered something little about her. She still felt badly about this all happening to him. She shook her head lightly. "Luke is not that heartless. Besides, if they are coming over, then it gives us a chance to talk." She pointed out. She hadn't seen Kenna or Luke in ages.
Kenna walked in that moment and sighed in relief seeing Chris alright and awake. She hugged Laila and smiled "how you doing sweety?" Chris looked at Luke and smiled "thanks for getting them called..." He said sincerely and nearly got emotional seeing Kenna's stomach so large "how's the kid doing?"
Laila turned in surprise when Kenna showed up and she smiled brightly, immediately, getting up to hug Kenna. "I'm alright. And how are you?" She asked, looking down at her swollen stomach. She worried about her friend. First pregnancy could be rough, and Laila knew that through experience. Luke walked in casually, his hands in his pockets. He smiled lightly and nodded in recognition when Chris thanked him. He shrugged lightly, glad, but also rather worried about Chris's obsession with the child. "They're doing alright." he said honestly. "Coming along fine."
Kenna smiled lightly "I'm doing ok, trying not to stress...it upsets her I think." She said honestly and smiled at Chris and Luke. Those two needed to get along for this baby. It was crucial they all were there for the baby for this to work. She moved towards Cheis letting him feel her stomach, the baby kicked and moved around at his presence "incredible..."
Laila nodded in understanding, as she knew how that went. She watched with a sad sort of detachment as Chris touched Kenna's stomach, and the baby moved in response. She couldn't keep him from that. That wasn't fair. But she needed to talk to him, like Andrew had suggested. Right now, when Kenna and Luke were in the room, that wouldn't be possible. So she stayed quiet for now, just watching the interaction. Luke watched Laila standing rather awkward and detached, and he knew exactly how she felt. This baby thing was something that they both were out on. In a perfect world, Kenna would be in love with Chris.
Kenna felt the energy shift and frowned at everyone of them "I can't take this! I can't feel peaceful and happy knowing you two want nothing to do with the baby!" She said frustrated "I'm not giving her up, and Chris will be apart of her life. We love you guys not eachother which makes this incredibly hard! But I'm due next month and some decisions have to be made!"
Laila and Luke were both hurt by Kenna's words, but Luke was hurt the most. She had told him over and over that she was supportive of him not ready to be a father yet. And now she was getting upset because of it. It didn't make any sense to him, and his hurt showed plainly on his features. What had made her change her mind about being supportive of his decision? He shifted, not wanting to be there anymore. He didn't want to be there discussing this with Chris in the room, so he just glanced at Kenna sadly. "I'll... I wait in the other room." He said softly, excusing himself. He left to the waiting room and sat down heavily in a chair, bowing his head tiredly. Why was there so much drama? He hated it. Laila had just stood there rather pained. She was already trying to find out how to work around this with Chris, and now her best friend was getting mad at her. She couldn't feel more sick. It just made her guilty and sad, and very unsure of herself. She felt alone, like everyone was pressuring her into something she wasn't sure she wanted. She felt like no matter what she decided on, there would always be someone who disapproved. If she said yes to the child, there was the problem of her guilty conciseness, and not so happy parents and other friends. If she said no to the child, then her best friends would forever hate her. Laila's eyes stung with the heat of tears threatening to fall and she clenched her jaw. "I'm sorry Kenna." she whispered, before leaving as well to run to the washroom where she could wait the tears out.
Kenna sank to the floor sobbing, she hated this she hated the hormone rages she got and how she pushed away her friends and love of her life. Chris realized he was the main cause of the turmoil between all of them. He took Kenna's hand gently "call thd adoptive family...you can still be part of her life, that way we aren't pressuring anyone." Kenna hugged him softly and nodded calling Elise back this time no emotions were going to affect what was best for her angel. "Hey Elise? It's Kenna...I've decided, I want you to be the mom of my baby."
Laila sat in the washroom, just staring at the stall walls. She stared and stared until her eyes no longer stung with tears, and she could wipe away the last bit of wetness with a small square of toiletpaper. She knew she needed to talk to Chris about this, and tell him how she felt about it. She needed to just be honest, and then maybe he could help her decide what to do about it. She wanted him to have the kid, but she didn't want to leave him for it. It was all so confusing. She just needed to talk to him. "And that's what I'll do, as soon as I get some time alone with him." She decided softly to herself. She got up again, checking the mirror to make sure it didn't look like she had been crying before she finally left and headed back through the hallways. Elise picked up the phone, and then nearly dropped it again. She was going to be a mother! She was finally going to be a mother! She gasped in delight, her smile stretching across her features. "Oh that's wonderful news! I can't tell you how thankful I am to you, thankful and so so happy. I'm still up for lunch if you are." She said, unable to contain her grin.
Luke knew this situation was hard on all of them. He wished he was ready for a kid, it might make this simpler. He wished that Kenna was in a relationship with someone who could be a loving father. He wished this all would have been something joyous instead of so stressfull and hated. But c'est la vie. One can not control the weather, they can only prepare for the storm. And Luke knew his role was to take care of Kenna, no matter what happened.
Chris smiled seeing Laila "I'm sorry I've put so much pressure on you love..." He kissed her gently "we're giving the kid to a wonderful family but Kenna is going to stay in constant touch and be there for birthday's and holidays." He took a deep breath "it's what is best for the girl..."Kenna smiled at Laila "but we are going to request the baby to have the middle name of Christine...so Chris can still be part of her story." She went to find Luke.
Laila sat by him, feeling more guilty that ever. But when he said they were giving the baby up for adoption, she could keep the emotion from flooding her and she slumped against his shoulder, shaking her head. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." She whispered over and over, for she believed he was only doing this for her, and not for himself. She hated that she would cause him any misery at all. Luke glanced up as Kenna entered the waiting room. He recognized her walk, and could hear when she entered. He smiled at her, but it was a little tired. After all, this whole situation was stressful, and it being late at night wasn't helping any at all either. "Hey baby." he whispered, standing to meet her. He kissed her forehead. "Are you doing alright?"

Chris nodded and turned on some country music and sang along as he drove to the other university he looked up at Laila and squeezed her hand "I love you, you know that right? I'd give up the kid if it meant losing you.
