McKensie and Lara II :)
Her mother smiled rather joyfully, happy to have been able to help. "Thank you dear." She clasped her hands, sitting beside her husband and leaning against him.Like, however, had frowned when she winced, worried that something was wrong. "Kenna." He whispered. "Are you alright?" He gently squeezed her hand.
Laila smiled her thanks at him when he put on the coat and she leaned into him for warmth, following him out into the snow. "None sense." She said seriously. "Actions do not define a person." She smiled over at him quickly before watching the cars on the street pass, and the snow slowly fall. She stuck out her tongue, catching a flake and grinning, loving the way her feet made prints in the snow.
Kenna turned on her side putting the cup down and nodding "mmhmm...just some cramping..." She breathed through it and sat back again "I'm ok." She assured her family and pecked Luke's cheek poor boy saw through everything.Chris chuckled watching her and got into the car trying to get the heater working, he was jonesing bad for a cigarette or some pot something! But he was staying sober for Laila she was worth it.
Luke breathed out a soft sigh. He couldn't help worrying about her. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked softly, hoping there would be something he could do. He wanted to help her in anyway he could. He hated feeling helpless. He huffed and raked a hand through his hair. Laila buckled herself into the passenger seat of his truck, glancing over at him. She knew she was tense and worried about all this, but what about him? She hadn't even thought to ask. "Hey... You ok with everything?" She asked, wanting an honest answer about how he was doing.
Kenna nodded "rub my lower back please...that seemed to help before, and you know just where I need it the most." She said leaning forward head in lap trying to think of something other then the pain.Chris sighed clenching the steering wheel "I'm managing..." He said slowly and ran a hand through his hsir "all I want is drugs...to erase the fact that a kid I helped create will be born soon..and I can't be part of it.l"
Luke nodded immediately, glad to have something he could do. He shifted so he could reach her back, and then gently started to massage, hoping it would relieve the tension. He knew what she liked, so he focused on those areas, making sure to be gentle. "Helping?" he asked hopefully. Laila's heart sank, but she figured as much. It wasn't easy to just jump off of any addiction, especially without a lifeline. She had never experienced withdrawal, but she had seen others go through it, and she was worried about Chris. "Maybe Kenna would let you help with getting the adoption set up. Or at least you could show your support." She offered. "I'm sure she'd let you. It's half your kid anyways." she shrugged, not sure if she was helping or not. "And about the drugs. Don't feel like I'm keeping you from them or anything. I just don't want to see you in the hospital again." She said seriously.
Kenna nodded breathing deeply through her nose and mouth "yeah...but the pain is just continuing...like a dull thud." She didn't know she was in labor, it wasn't domething she had ever experianced before. Thankfully her mom was there.Chris shook his head "don't want to taint the kid's chances, who would adopt s kid from a drug addict loser? I wouldn't...they see Kenna and automatically get the best. The kid deserves the world." He sighed mentioning something he never thought he would "that's why I can't keep it, even though that's what I want..." He wanted to raise the kid, he wanted to be a dad, leave school...
((wow! Sounds like fun! Hope you have a good time :) ))Luke frowned. A dull thud? What on earth could that be?
"Are you sure honey?" Her mother asked, looking up from where she sat with her husband. "What does it feel like?" she inquired, her forehead creased with a frown.
Luke was really worried now. What was going on? Was something wrong? She'd only been pregnant for a few weeks! Was something wrong already?
Laila swallowed her response. He was right of course, it just hurt her to know that he wanted to help, and was staying away for the kid. It showed he cared. But his next comment shocked her. He…. he wanted the kid? Chris would give up his future, and his career… for a kid? Laila didn't feel anything but shock. She had never thought of him as wanting that. He had seemed so passionate about his studies, since she met him at least… and now, he wanted to throw that away, and raise a kid? Laila wasn't sure if she should think it was oh so sweet, or stupid. "You… want the child?" she repeated softly. A child needed a mother… did he expect Kenna to fill that role? Or Krissy? A horrifying thought crossed her mind. Did he expect her to fill that role? It was all well and good if he wanted to completely turn his own life around for a baby… but she was dealing with enough right now as it was. She didn't think she could handle jumping into a relationship with a ready made family. Suddenly Laila was really really nervous and she fidgeted in her seat.
((I'm back!))Kenna turned on her side moaning slightly as she shook her head "it hurts mommy..." She whimpered digging her nails in Luke's hand. 6 months...that's when she had left Razor's bedroom. Everything had flown by so quickly she felt like the world was moving without her.
Chris noticed the uncomfortable feeling and fidgeting he swore and started the truck "like I said forget I even said something..."he mumbled blasting his music and getting out of the underground parking lot.
((Good! Sorry, didn't get the notif for you last post! How was your trip?))Her mother frowned, worried that there might be some sort of other underlying issue. "Kenna dear... I'm going to call the doctor back in. I'll be right back." she said, smiling a little and squeezing her hand. She left to the hallway and called a doctor.
Luke frowned, watching her go. He was very worried now. What could be hurting Kenna? He squeezed her hand, his eyes watching the door for when the doctor would come in. His lips were pressed into a thin stressed line.
Laila hadn't meant to ruin the conversation. She had just been shocked by his comment. But he didn't even give her a chance to explain herself, he just turned up the music and started driving. So Laila kept quiet, leaning her elbow on the window side and watching as things passed by. She still felt uncomfortable about this whole situation, but now she felt badly as well.
((So amazing, we helped so many people I miss it so much! :( ))Kenna closed her eyes and shook her head "wake up Kenna...wake up..." She whispeted over and over wishing that this was a nightmare that she could wake up from in Luke's arms skinny and not pregnant. She looked up at the doctor scared.
Chris sighed and turned off the radio and pulled over "love...I don't want to scare you away, but I do want that kid. I don't know why, I still want my career and future, but I don't want to watch someone walk away with my kid...I always wanted to be a dad, not just now...I practically am Krissy's dad."
((That's awesome! It's always great to make good memories :) and about the other rp I'm totally cool with taking a break for a while. Just let me know when u want to get back to it again :) ))Luke winced when he heard what Kenna was whispering. She was that scared. Luke bent to kiss her forehead gently. "I'm right here." He whispered. "And I'm sorry about all this."
The doctor started on the exam and frowned. He stood, shaking his head slowly. "Just a few premature cramps it looks like." He said, massaging around the sides of her stomach. "It should pass in a few minutes."
Laila looked over at him when he pulled to the side of the road, and she bit her lip as she listened. He really did want to be a father. And Laila thought it was admirable that he had such a heart, one that no one seemed to see in him. And she was all for him taking in his child. But did she want kids? Not really. She was still young! Kids sounded so scary right now. But did she loved him more than she fear kids? Absolutely. "I'll come with you to talk to Kenna about taking in the kid." She said softly.
Kenna sighed in relief her fears washed away for that moment, she felt instantly better when the doctor massaged her stomach moving the baby around "so she's ok?..." She asked hopefully.Chris was stunned to say the least, he expected her to tell him that he was insane and talk him out of it. He hugged her tightly and sighed "I don't expect you to parent at all...I love you, and I love the kid...it'll work out. I guess I'll get back to school when she's big enough for a nanny.
The doctor straightened, nodding. "The baby is just fine. A very active little girl." He said, smiling gently. "It's normal for your body to feel a little tired now. You've been carrying a child for a few months, and cramps and aches here and there are normal ways of you body telling you its tired. Don't worry. Everything will go back to normal again when the child is born."Laila hugged him back, glad that the tension was gone and they were ok again. She was still nervous, but she was glad she had made the decision to help him. "I love you too. It's good to see you so happy about something." She said, smiling lightly. "I guess I just... didn't expect you to want something like this." She said honestly.
Kenna nodded and smiled "thank you doctor, so can I leave soon? Or am I still at risk because of the allergic reaction? Finals are next week..." She was still a student and she didn't want to retake this year. She'd be behind and that wasnt who she was.Chris nodded "it surprises me too...but I can't keep quiet about something I feel so passionate about. I'm nervous but it scares me more to let my kid go to strangers..."
((sorry. Getting close to exams now, so I don't have a lot of time to reply to this, but I'll do my best.))The doctor scribbled something down on his note pad, nodding as he did so. "It was just a one time reaction. You will be ok to go home again tomorrow morning." He assured, looking up with a quick smile. "Just make sure to rest lots and eat healthy. And please stay away from peanuts."
Luke laughed softly, and he nodded. "I'll take care of her doc. She'll be alright." He kissed her forehead. "Promise."
Laila nodded slowly, still rather surprised by this all, yet she knew she shouldn't be. By the way Chris cared for Krissy so... it should have been obvious. She pulled a smile onto her features and nodded. "I admire you for that." She said softly, and then looked back at the road as they drove. Her mind was a flurry of emotions. She didn't even know what she was thinking. Was she happy? Afraid? Confused? It all felt the same.
Kenna smiled up at him and kissed his jaw tenderly "I've got the best care giver anyone could ask for." She assured the doctor and sat up tucking the gown in so she was modest. She grabbed her phone texting the mom from the adoption agency.Chris parked at the apartment and helped her out "how much do you want to bet that Krissy ate all of my chips." He chuckled unlocking the door "hey squish, you want to get off the coach now?" He ruffled her hair and grabbed a water bottle because whenever he craved beer he drank water.
((Thank you!!))Luke smiled modestly and nodded, standing up when she did. He folded his hands behind him, waiting for her to finish the call. He was just as anxious as she was to get out of the hospital.
The woman on the other line picked up almost immediately. "Hello? Who is this?" She asked, her voice cheery and hopeful.
Laila couldn't help but laugh softly, shaking her head. "Ten bucks that she ate the popcorn too." She said, stepping in after him. His apartment was rather nice, larger than her own, that's for sure. She felt a little awkward just barging into his home, so she just stood by the door.
Krissy looked up from the tv when Chris got home and she grinned, patting her blankets. "And leave my nest?" She got up anyways and hugged him tight, grinning. "Where's you girlfriend?" She asked immediately.
Kenna smiled at the tone of her voice, she seemed so lovely "hi this is Kenna, the adoption agency gave me you and your husband's name id like to talk to you about adopting my baby." She said trying not to get emotional, oh she loved this baby so much it was tearing her up inside.Chris looked around confused and then chuckled "Laila come on...I promise it's somewhst clean." He teased get and hugged Krissy "we have some things to chat about squish, how would you like yo become an aunt?"
The woman immediately smiled, thrilled to have a chance to talk to the woman who would bring the child into the world. "I'd love to!" She agreed. "Right now? Or would you rather we meet another time?" She offered, eager to just meet her. Laila nodded slowly, moving into the apartment. She kept her hands behind her as she walked towards the kitchen so she would be out of everyone's way.
Krissy's smile turned into a puzzled frown. "An aunt?" She asked, confused. "Laila isn't pregnant too is she?" she asked, not entirely understanding what was going on.
Kenna smiled "can we meet later? I'm in the hospital still and getting ready to go home, there's a couple of parents I want to talk to but I can't wait to meet you!" She said happiky and smiled at Luke "so can you tell me where you want to meet?"Chris shook his head "no no of course not! I...I want to adopt Kenna's kid, I want to be a dad squish, what do you think? Is it too crazy?"
The woman nodded eagerly, smiling back at her husband with an encouraging smile. Maybe now they would finally be able to have a kid. "Oh for sure for sure... whenever would be good for you!" she said seriously, trying to be accommodating. "We could meet in town at that little sandwich shop for a snack if you'd like." She offered, still smiling. Luke smiled back at Kenna and squeezed her hand.
Krissy was surprised to say the least, and her eyes widened. "We'd have a kid living here too?" She asked, a grin spreading across her face. "Cool! I could teach it tricks." She joked. "Why the sudden change of heart? I thought you never wanted to be a parent because of how we were raised." She said, curious.
Kenna smiled back at him and nodded "I love that sandwich place! Can we meet on Saturday? I'll bring my boyfriend if that's ok? He really wants to be involved with the baby." Her husband Mark hugged her from behind, all their hopes and prayers was to have a kid. They had tried so long and finally adoption was the only option left. They had two teen moms already on their list, but he tried not to get hopes up especially his wife's.
Chris nodded "that's kind of why I need to be a parent, I want to raise the kid right. Give it every opportunity we were in enough foster care and I don't want my kid to have to deal with that...I just, I'm nervous Kenna hates me and so does Luke. Why would they even consider this?"
The woman, Elise, leaned her head back against Mark, nodding, glad that Kenna was happy with her suggestion. "Of course dear! We'd like to meet you both." She said enthusiastically. "Does one o'clock work for the both of you?" She asked. Luke heard the girl through the phone and he nodded to Kenna, saying it was fine with him.
Krissy nodded in understanding, and she moved so she could sit on his lap on the couch. "I understand." She said simply. "Kenna and Luke are nice people though, aren't they? I'm sure if you talked to them, they'd understand. They have to know that you're different now." She said seriously. "And even if they say no." She added, a little quieter, "I doubt Kenna would let her kid go to the foster systems."
Kenna nodded and then laughed because she couldn't see that obviously "one would be perfect, I can't wait to finally meet you! Have a great day!" She hung up the phone and took a deep breath smiling at Luke trying to stay positive about the adoption.Mark turned his wife so they were facing "we have two other options love...I don't want to say no to anymore girls, we need to make a decision on who it will be..."
Chris nodded and cuddled his sister close "that's squish..." He looked up at Laila and sighed "will you talk to them with me? I mean obviously you don't despice me...and Kenna is your best friend...I need to prove I can do this and that I will be the perfect dad."
Luke wrapped his arms around Kenna, kissing her forehead. "You're doing great." he said softly, just holding her for a minute. He knew this whole process was tough on her, and he wanted to give her any support she needed. "What do you say we go home now?" he whispered. Elise sighed softly, her posture slacking a little. "But what if one of them falls through? What if they all fall through?" She sighed. "We... if there's no options in the end of this... I..." She swallowed. She was so afraid of being childless forever. She felt useless, like her husband was tied down to a worthless spouse who could not provide for him.
Laila looked up then when Chris spoke to her and she nodded. Of course she would go with him. It only made sense for her to talk to Kenna. "Of course." She replied, giving him a soft smile. "I'm sure she'll listen to you, but I'll be there."
Kenna nodded drying the tears that we're starting to fall "I want to go home...I want to sleep in my own bed and go to school and not worry about anything..." She nuzzled him and blinked seeing a text from Razor "can we have a double date at Ramone's I really need to talk to you guys"Razor sent the text and blew through his lips, he ran a hand through his hair and started cleaning up the house because he felt anxious sitting around and thinking about it. He pecked Laila's cheek when he neared her "I love you..."
Luke nodded in understanding, just holding her. He started a slow walk towards the door, so they could go home. "Let's get home." he agreed. "We can make cookies and cuddle on the couch." he offered. "Do normal things until Monday, then you can go to school again." Then he looked down as her phone buzzed just as they were leaving the hospital building. "Who's that from?"Laila was leaning against the kitchen counter, and she watched as he started to move around cleaning up things. She could see that he was anxious, and she wanted to help someway. She smiled, reaching over to squeeze his hand. "You'll be an amazing father, Chris."
Krissy watched them for a moment from the living room, and then smiled, getting up quietly to go tuck herself into bed.
Kenna frowned showing him the text "it's Razor...I don't know what he wants to talk to me about...nothing good im sure! I don't know why Laila is with him...he ODed did you know?"Chris smiled and hugged her "thank you...I couldn't do anything without you, you are the only one that believes in me." He kissed her softly and sighed "will I be a good father?"
((ODed? Sorry, couldn't figure out what that one was supposed to mean :P ))Luke scanned the text, a slight frown creasing his features. What was that supposed to be about? Razor couldn't want anything good. "Well. We have to hear him out. I'll come with you." He promised. "But I don't really know what happened to Laila either. I haven't talked to her in a while. I hope she's alright."
Laila laughed softly and shook her head. "Krissy believes in you too." She whispered, leaning her forehead against his chest. "You'll be the best father." She assured. She knew he would be. He was so caring under the shell. He was like her in that way. She didn't know what she thought about this though. She did love him, but if she saw them down the road, she saw them with their kids. Not some adopted child. Still. She was completely supportive of his want to raise the kid, she just didn't know how she fit into the picture.
((Overdosed :) ))Kenna nodded and called Laila time to get some answers, she waited patiently and smiled when she answered "hi darling, so what is going on? I don't trust Razor I'm sorry...I should give him a chance but...I guess I'm not like you in that way..."
((thanks :) ))Laila pulled back from Chris when her phone rang, giving him an apologetic smile as she answered it and waited for Kenna to talk. She sighed softly after. "He wants the kid, Kenna. He's not like he used to be, promise." she said seriously, pacing the kitchen. "Can we at least talk about it? I think he deserves the chance to explain himself."
Kenna was shocked to say the least, she couldn't speak for a couple of minutes her heart hammering "he wants the girl? Really?...I, would have to think about this but...I actually would like that, I could see her then...but what about you?"
Laila waited for kenna to respond, and when she did, she smiled brightly, flashing a thumbs up at Chris. Kenna was alright with it. And then she asked about her and Laila sighed softly. She walked to Chris's bathroom so she could talk with Kenna in private, and shut the door. "I don't know." She said honestly. "I don't know how this whole baby thing pans out with me." She said honestly. "I love Chris, but I don't want a kid. However, I don't want me to keep him from having the kid. He's really passionate about this..."
Kenna frowned listening to the door shutting, she assumed that Laila didn't tell Chris her feelings about this "well, you've got to talk to him about how you feel Laila, he obviously wants you to be part of this...there's only s couple more months before the baby comes...I think you'd be a really great surrogate mom, and you obviously love him...but it's just like Luke, he doesn't want this baby because it isn't his...but I can't stand letting her go..."
Laila sighed, sitting down on the edge of the bathtub as she raked a hand through her short hair. "Yeah I know. I just don't want to sound like I'm not supportive. When he first mentioned it, I was so shocked, and it nearly shut him down. He turned the radio up high and said it was stupid. I don't want to offend him again like that. But..." She sighed. "I know I would like kids eventually. I know I would like to be a mother... I just... I've only been with Chris for a couple weeks. I don't like feeling like I'm entering a situation I can't get out of. Its not fair to the kid for me to be there as a mother, and then suddenly leave again..." she huffed out slowly. "But Kenna... if you really want to keep the child, then no one is stopping you." She said seriously. "You have to decide what you want."
Kenna sighed "Chris...is older, has more experience...i trust him to take care of her. Im just starting my life, I dont know what to be yet...Luke has so much potential i cant lovk him into a role he doesnt want...i just wish, that we both could take care of the baby but im sorry i hate Razor...i want to be the mother and he wants to be the father...its not fair for the kid to have parents that hate each other."
Laila nodded her understanding. It was unfortunate how things worked out. She knew Razor and Kenna could have very well fallen in love if circumstances had been different. Then the kid would grow up with happy parents in a normal home. But that didn't happen and now things were a mess. Both Laila and Luke didn't want the kid, and Razor and Kenna did. Laila knew that she would have to sacrifice her own wants if she wanted to be with Chis, but all this was getting to be really scary. "I know." She said softly, "and I'm sorry it didn't work out differently." She said honestly. "There has to be some solution..."
Kenna frowned and ran her hand through her hair "I don't know what to do Laila..." She started to cry "I just want the best for my girl...and I think Chris would be amazing, but when I think of Chris I think of you honey...you really don't want to be a mom?"
Laila felt somewhat betrayed. Now even her best friend was pressuring her to do something she wasn't sure about. She swallowed. "It's not that I really don't want to... I'm still open to it, I just..." She shook her head slowly. How would she understand? Laila didn't want to be tied down, she didn't want to walk into a situation she couldn't walk out of, and she didn't want to be a disappointment to the kid. This was all just too much, but she hated hearing her friend cry, and she certainly wasn't going to make it worse. "Never mind. Don't worry about it. I'll think over my options and get back to you, ok? I'm not completely against being a mom." She mustered a weak smile. "Thanks for calling Kenna. I should go now. Bye." She hung up and slouched against the wall, closing her eyes in a grimace. This was all just so crazy. She needed a break, and she needed someone to talk too that wasn't involved. And right now, that meant her brother. Dialling his number, Laila lifted the phone to her ear again and waited. "Ands? Can I come over?"
Kenna felt like an emotional mess, she started to cry and then got beyond angry throwing a plate the she thought was clean but was dirty and slumped to the floor crying what was she going to do?Andrew answered and frowned "yeah, the house is a mess but come over kid..." He knew she was stressed about her feelings for Chris but that's all he had heard since they last talked.
Chris knocked on the bathroom door "babe? You ok?..." He was worried about her, he hated the pressure he was putting on her about the baby. Honestly he wished he had never brought it up...
Luke heard a racket in the kitchen and practically ran in to see what was going on. "Kenna!" He said, surprised. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? Is everything ok?" He asked quickly, looking at the broken pieces of plate on the ground, and then at Kenna. He quickly moved over to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders in a gentle hug. "What happened?"Laila smile was a brief but relieved one. "Thank you so much." she said quickly. "I'll see you in ten." She said quickly, and then got up when she heard the knock on the door. "Got to go for now. Bye!" She whispered, hanging up and taking a deep breath. She knew she had to be careful what she said around Chris. She couldn't seem unsupportive, because she was definitely supportive of him getting the child, and she was glad he told her about it.
She opened the bathroom door and smiled, nodding. "Yeah. I'm alright. I was just catching up with Kenna." She said honestly, putting her phone back in her pocket. She pushed onto her tip toes and kissed his cheek, brushing past him to move into the kitchen. "Do you mind if I stop by my brother's place for a bit? I haven't seen him in a while and we need to talk about a few things." she said, shrugging her jacket on.
Kenna held him close and sobbed tucking her head in his chest "it's just so much...Chris wants the baby, and I love that so much...I can be part of her life, but Laila doesn't want to be the mom...and you don't want to be a dad...so I don't know what to do!"Chris turned her around and nodded "I'll drive you there darling..." He kissed her forehead getting his jacket "then I can be a man and introduce myself to the man of the house...your brother, you still have a mama right?"
Luke cringed, knowing he was part of this problem too. But he couldn't just magically change his mind. Luke was generally a firm believer in whatever he thought was the right path to take. And he knew he was not ready to be a father yet. But it was sad what sort of situation they were in now. He kissed her forehead and sighed softly. "We're going to have to make a decision. But for now, give Laila some time to think about all this. It must be rather shocking to just learn of this option and then be told to decide about it all in one night." He said gently.Laila smiled, glad he would drive her there and she nodded, opening the door. "Thanks." She said, walking out to his truck. She was happy that Chris and her brother would meet, she just hoped they both behaved. "Yeah, we still have a mother." She agreed. She didn't mention what state her mother was in, as that was not a happy topic and she'd rather talk about lighter things for now. She opened the passenger door and slid in, closing the door after her.
Kenna nodded mournfully "I know...I probably pushed her, these stupid emotional hormones...I don't want to pressure anyone it's just soon...sooner than any of us really realize! I love you and I know that you are making the best decision for yourself and I support that, I just want to be part of her life...I can't let her go..."Chris nodded and set his phone for the GPS "I'll drive you there and then I need to go see my mama alrught? Call me when your ready to head back? Or are you going to stay the night?" He wondered turning up the highway.
Luke nodded, running his fingers through her hair. "I know." He whispered, resting his head on top of hers. "You don't have to decide anything just yet. Remember, if you put the child for adoption you can choose to keep in touch with the family." He reminded, pulling back so he could look down at her. "Nothing is set in stone right now, you can still think on this." He smiled gently.Laila nodded. It worked well if he had something to do. She didn't want him to be going into all this trouble just for her, and she certainly didn't want him to wait around. She thought about what she might want as far as the plan and then shook her head. "I'll call you before it gets late to tell you the plan." She promised

Chris chuckled "I mean, I think she thinks I'm not good enough for you and i'd have to agree with that love..." he pecked her cheek and wrapped the coat around her leading her outside where it was starting to snow.
