Andrew sighed "Sis what's going on? You can't hide anything from me...who do I need to beat up?" He said with a frown "do I need to come over?"Razor sighed "what...would you be referring to?..." He asked slowly and played with her hair and closed his eyes "my head hurts..."
Kenna sighed "I don't know...I just want to move on, I want to not be guilty anymore..."
Laila sighed softly. "No. Yes. I don't know..." she shook her head, explaining the events of the last couple of days. When she finished, she swallowed. "So I feel really bad, but I can't stick around him, not with what happened. He doesn't have friends. Anyone he get's close with he ends up leaving once he's got them in bed. I can't be that girl. You of all people know why I don't do relationships. Especially not one night stands." She huffed. "But I can't just ignore him! I'm not cruel!" She shook her head. "I don't know what to do..."Krissy frowned determinedly, about to explain it, and then she sighed, shaking her head. He had a headache. She couldn't bother him when he was suffering. "We can talk about this later." See she said. "Nurse? Could you get him hooked up to some mild pain meds please." she gave him a weak smile as another IV was slid into his vein.
Luke nodded in understanding and he kissed her nose gently. "Whatever you want baby, I'll be here for you." He promised. "Just tell me what you need."
Andrew sighed softly "sounds like a tough situation Sis...but what you've told me, I think Razor was trying to turn over a new leaf with you...He honestly seemed heart broken...I'd be his friend but leave it at that for right now, he's dealing with a lot of problems..."Razor sighed stroking her cheek "how'd you get so big?...I'm sorry about all of this...I am not the big brother and example you deserve..."
Kenna nodded and groaned "bathroom..." She couldn't get there in time and vomited in the bushes.
Laila nodded slowly, taking a long drought of her drink. "I'll try that I suppose." She agreed, valuing advice from her brother. She didn't know how she would fare around Razor now, but she would keep her distance as only a friend. She leaned her head in her hands. "Thanks for picking up Ands." She said. "It might take me a while to get over this one, but thanks for your advice." She took another drink and let the alcohol take effect. Krissy smiled a little, closing her eyes. She lay her head beside him and let out a soft sigh. "I just wish you'd have told me. And would take care of yourself!" she shook her head. "You can't become Mom and leave me." she whispered.
Luke rushed to her side, helping hold back her hair from her face. He supported her by her shoulders and then gently scooped her up, carrying her inside. "Let's get you to bed." He whispered, carrying her to his room, where he lay her down on his bed and gently tucked her in. "Do you need anything?"
Andrew heard the clink of glasses and sighed "get someone to drive you home...no wait, I'll be over in 15 minutes..." He said hinestly and hung up getting in his car and driving to her campus and the infamous tavern everyone went to.Razor shook his head "I'd never leave you...but I'm messed up Kriss...Im not a good guy and the one chance I had to change that was taken in a second...I do nothing but harm..."
Kenna shook her head no and moaned turning on her side "heating pack maybe?" She asked hopefully and snuggled up in his blankets.
Laila couldn't protest and say she wanted to stay longer and just get drunk so she sighed when he hung up and put her phone down, finishing her glass. She knew her brother would be here to pick her up soon, and really, she was glad it would be him and not someone else. Krissy buried her face into the blankets around him and shook her head, "That's not true. You've taken care of me for as long as I can remember." She whispered, her voice breaking. "You can't die."
Luke nodded his agreement, eager to help her. "Of course." he said, jogging to the bathroom where he searched for a heating pack. Filling it up with hot water, her brought it back to her and tucked it in against her stomach.
Andrew sighed and picked her up and helped her into the backseat "how much did you drink goose?" He drove her home and set her up on the couch. "Alcohol is not the answer...you know you could destroy your liver this way?"Razor sighed "I'm not going anywhere...I'm thinking about quitting school to take care of you, so I won't drink or do drugs...or get anyone pregnant..." He sighed hating himself more "I really am dad..."
Kenna moaned and sighed pulling it close "my stomach hurts..."
Laila smiled a little guiltily. "Just one glass." she insisted, her mind a little foggy, but she let her brother help her into the house because she couldn't walk straight. "I know. I know." she said, rolling her eyes. "It may not be the answer but it sure does help." She mumbled, curling up on the couch. "What have you been up to?"Krissy relaxed a little and gave him a smile then. "You don't need to do that for me, Chris. I'm fine living with Mom, as long as you keep visiting ok? You're not dad because you came back. And you keep coming back for me. You're not like dad because you can be messed up but you still love. You love me." She said softly, squeezing his hand.
Luke nodded, moving around behind her to massage down her back and shoulders. He rubbed to try and ease the tension before moving around again and gently massaging her stomach. "would Advil help?" he asked gently, wanting to make things better for her.
Andrew stroke her hair back "Yeah but one glass is a lot for someone like you Lai...your tiny..." he sighed and smiled "Thinking about proposing to Melanie...what do you think? You want a sister in law?"Razor sighed and held her close "Then come live with me, there is an extra room in the apartment and you can go to school up at Millton Junior High...I don't like you living in the ghettos..."
Kenna moaned and moved against his hands "would it hurt the baby?"
Laila sighed in concession, and then smiled brightly. She loved that her brother was happy with his girlfriend. She wished she could find real love like he did. "Of course I like her. As long as she keeps her fanciful ideas of me in pink lace to herself. I am not wearing anything frilly to the wedding." She teased, grinning. Krissy smiled a little, "I'd have to leave behind all my friends in the ghettos." She said, her smile growing a little. "But I'd love to live with you. As long as you don't plan on bringing any girls back while I'm around." she said seriously, wagging her finger at him.
Luke kept up the gentle massage as it seemed to help her a little. "It should be baby safe, but I can call a doctor about it if you'd feel better." He offered, moving his massaging down her stomach and then up again.
Andrew laughed lightly "Mel isn't a frilly type girl, she'd have you wear black if it wasn't so...odd." he hugged her gently "Youll find someone, they just have to break past the barriers and find that soft and squishy part."Razor smiled and hugged her close "I'll go celibate alright? Id love to have you stay...I don't want you growing up near so much crime. You have too much to offer the world Krissy..."
Kenna nodded and smiled "Just keep doing that...it really helps, its like youve done this before." she teased and sighed "Do you remember your mom being pregnant?"
Laila smiled then, nodding her approval. "Then I approve." she sighed when he picked up on the real reason for her distress and she hugged him back. "You are too perceptive for your own good sometimes, you know that?" She teased, but it was weak. "There's not going to be anyone like that, Ands. After all this time you would have thought I learned..." She shook her head. Krissy smiled brightly then, happy once more. "Ok. Deal." she agreed. "But that means you have to get better so you can leave here, ok?" She said seriously, looking at all the tubes attached to him. "I hate hospitals..." her mind wandered to their mother, who was also hospitalized much too often.
Luke smiled gently, keeping up the massage as she had requested. "I don't know. Maybe I have done this before." He countered, grinning. Then he sighed softly, his nod terse. "Yeah. I remember." He said softly, not really liking to remember. It lead to memories of what had happened to his younger brother.
Andrew stroke her hair and kissed her temple "Yeah you will...Even this total loser guy almost made it...you just have to learn to trust and be vulnerable, people aren't out to hurt you..."Razor nodded stroking her hair and back "I know kid...I'll be getting out soon ok? They just are worried about, making sure I get sober and clean...we had a close call..."
Kenna sighed and took his hand squeezing "I'm sorry...I didn't mean...I was just..." she watched him "That won't happen to me or this baby ok?"
Laila smiled a little then. "Yeah. I suppose." she shrugged. "But it's hard. It's really hard. I did try." She said softly. "But he got my friend pregnant..." She shook her head. "It seems like everytime I make myself vulnerable, I get hurt."Krissy nodded, laying her head on his chest. She breathed deeply a couple times and then let herself relax. "Alright. Just get better. I hate seeing you so pale." She said, squeezing his hand.
Luke sighed softly, pulling out of his memories. "No, it's ok Kenna, I know you didn't mean that." He said gently. "I know everything will go perfectly for us too. I can feel it." He smiled at her, slowing his massaging, as it seemed like she was feeling better.
Andrew frowned "but that's his past...You don't want to be judged for something that you did in your past right? He wants to move on too, yeah a baby is something impossible to ignore, but...if you didn't know that would you still want to be with him?"Razor chuckled "I'm that horrid looking huh?...howd you find about this Krissy?...who told you or knew where to contact you?"
Kenna nodded and smiled up at him "Thanks...I love you Luke, I don't know what I'd do without you...seems like you are always taking care of me..."
Laila chewed her lip, thinking about that for a moment. "Yeah. I suppose I would." She admitted softly. She sighed and turned her head against him. "Its just... Kenna..." she shook her head. "I know I should forgive him. I know that. I'm just scared to." She admitted. Krissy shrugged. "Met a girl on the bus." She explained. "She was running away too. Short brown hair, lots of earrings." She described. "Said her name was Laila. She came back with me to check on you and got you into the hospital. I think she's at the bar right now." She explained.
Luke chuckled softly. "It's my pleasure." He said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "I love you, Kenna, always have, and it's so nice to be able to show it now."
Andrew nodded "Did you know that Mel cheated on me? Right when we were first dating...I was devestated I hated her...but we made it work, I knew how sorry she was...and my love for her was stronger than that..."Razor blinked "What?...Laila was here? she was the one that got me here?" he was shocked, he thought she hated him and wanted nothing to do with him "Did she say anything?..."
Kenna smiled and nodded "I love you more though...and I wish that I had seen it before..." she took a deep breath "How fast do you think 9 months is going to go?"
Laila had not known that. She hadn't known that at all. "Oh..." she said, as she couldn't come up with much else to say. "Seems like you're much stronger than I am then." She said softly. "But I already knew that."Krissy nodded. "Yeah. She promised me she'd check on you. Said something about feeling bad." she said, shrugging. "When she saw you in the hospital, she ran off though, went drinking. Guess it didn't sit well with her either." she teased, kissing his cheek.
Luke smiled softly, shaking his head. "I wish you had seen it before too. It's been a long few years waiting for you." He said honestly, his smile devious. "Nine months will fly by, I'm sure. We can make it fun."
Andrew sighed "My point was that there will always be some bumps in the road, you seem to really like this guy and obviously he cares about you..."Razor was in shock, he nodded slowly and swallowed "She seemed upset?..." he shook his head "I just can't believe she was even here...she hates me now..."
KEnna blinked "A few years? holy cow I must be blind..."
Laila raised her eyebrow. "Obviously?" She repeated. "Ands... we've gone on one date, in which time I found out he got my best friend pregnant. I hardly think he's even had the time to think about me much. If anything it was just a general interest." She shook her head. "There is no way he cares about me." No one cares about me but you. She thought. Krissy smiled a little, nodding. "Yeah, she did. She said sorry a couple times too. Said something about not meaning to hurt your face or something." She said, shaking her head. "I don't know why you're so worried about her, you haven't been this worried about anyone in ages." She teased.
Luke laughed at that. "Since grade eight actually. It's not like Laila didn't tell you a couple times... and I didn't keep it secret. The whole school knows you know." He teased, kissing her forehead.
Andrew shook his head "I'm a guy goose, I know that he likes you...he wouldn't do any of this stuff if he didn't. He didn't drink or take advantage of you...he told you pretty heavy stuff and was honest...even giving back your sweater. You did something to this boy because he is hooked."Razor flushed and shrugged "I really like her Kriss, I just...I don't know how to describe it...I want to be better for her, I want to be the type of guy she deserves...I've never felt this way about anyone."
Kenna flushed and hid her face in her chest "I didn't think that you liked me...I thought Laila was just..I don't know trying to make me feel better, because I've liked you since kindergarten...and you stayed at my hospital bed even when your mom said you couldn't..."
Laila found herself flushing, not sure what to say. Finally she just shook her head. "Well. Now I'm not sure how I'm going to even be able to talk to him without looking stupid." She shoved him playfully. "I'm supposed to be just friends with him, remember?"Krissy shook her head, huffing. "Well then. I never thought I'd hear you say that. But I guess this means you have to go after her." She smiled a little. "Girls like to be chased, Chris. Don't give up on her if you really care about her ok? You might be surprised. Women can often act closed off when they want attention."
Luke groaned, pinching his forehead. "All that time and you never said anything?" He smiled at her then. "Peanut. We were avoiding eachother for much too long." he kissed her lips gently. "And I'm glad we finally fixed that."
Andrew chuckled and pushed her away lightly "Well, now that I think about it, I think you should give him a chance, you like him too...if that wasn't the case I'd friend zone him but that doesn't seem like the best idea now."Razor nodded and texted her "Hey, I hope you are ok Kriss told me that you were the one that saved me. Thank you. I really would like to see you...to apolagize. I'm going into rehab and going to change. It's because of you, you make me want to be better."
Kenna nodded and kissed him back "It had to be at the right time I guess...I love you Luke...I want to spend the rest of my life with you..."
Laila rolled her eyes. "I do not like him." She argued, hoping she didn't sound too much like she was lying. Then she got a text and read it. Her cheeks turned red and she smiled lightly, texting him back. 'No problem. Krissy needs you after all. I'm glad to hear that you'll go into rehab. I didn't like seeing you so sick. But I suppose we could see eachother again.' she sent it before she could change it and tried not to grin in front of her brother. Krissy watched her brother type in his message and she smiled lightly. "You can be such a sweetheart sometimes, you know that? You act so tough with that dumb nickname. Really it should be something like... pookie. Or fluffy. Or Hugme, I like cuddling." She teased, grinning.
Luke smiled brightly, liking that thought very much. "I'd like that too." He said softly. "But we've got plenty more years ahead of us to plan that out."
Andrew raised a brow and chuckled "Denial is the clincher you know..." he nudged her stealing her phone and grinning "Well, if that doesn't say anything I don't know what will." he stood up to get her a water bottle to keep her hydrated.Razor shook his head "Shut up Kriss. I am not a softy, I am still the jerk to her...I just want to make it up to her alright? Nothing else, she's just...she deserves so much more than me."
Kenna nodded and texted her mother "Can Luke and I come to dinner tomorrow? I have some news."
Laila only blushed brighter and snatched her phone back quickly, shutting it off. "Andrew!" She said, horrified, but only because it was true. She couldn't argue it after all. She had been so worried about Razor when she had found him. She knew she had to care about him to feel that way. Krissy rolled her eyes. "Ok. Ok. I get it. Enough mushy talk around me, ok? Save that for her." She sat up on his bed again. "Speaking of. Are you feeling better now? Do you think you'll be ok to leave here soon?" She asked hopefully, eager to get out of the hospital.
Kenna's mother was on her phone regularily, so she got texts right away. "Of course! Your father and I would love to see you." she sent back, only a few seconds later.
Luke looked up in interest when her phone dinged twice. "Who you texting?" He asked, curious.
Andrew laughed and came back in handing her the water bottle "You act like you are back in elementary school and you don't want to let your crush know you like him...it's cute, but don't be scared just...be Laila, my tough bratty baby sister that I adore!"Razor nodded and slowly got up out of bed and removed the IVs, his head was spinning along with the throbbing head ache but he faked it wanting to leave as well.
Kenna smiled "My mom, she said that she'd love to have us at dinner tomorrow, so dress nice...you know how it goes at the mansion..." she ran a hand through her hair "I don't know what to wear...I feel like nothing fits and I'm not even showing yet!"
Laila took the bottle and drank as much as she could stomach, knowing she would need water. Her horror melted into soft amusement and she nodded. "Ok. I'll try my best." She said, shaking her head. "You know, you're not that much older than me." She teased, her smile mischievous. Krissy smiled brightly, thrilled to be able to get away from this place. She took his hand and gently lead him through the hallways and back down the sidewalk to his apartment. "Do you need anything?" She asked, not wanting him to be uncomfortable. She deposited him on the couch. "Food, water, Advil?"
Luke fake groaned. "I have to dress up?" he asked, pecking her cheek. "Only for you, and only this once." he said, seriously. Then he smiled, looking over her. "Just wear a loose sweater and some jeans. Any top that doesn't hug your stomach would do it just fine." He suggested.
Andrew chuckled and gave her a nudgie "Yeah I know...but still, just old enough to give you grief..." his tone went serious "Have you visited mom lately?...she hasn't been doing well..."Razor shook his head and threw away the empty syringe and cleaned up all the evidence from the experience, he opened the blinds and gave a smile "You want to check out your room?"
Kenna sighed "You know I have to wear a fancy dress...everything is form fitting...I don't even own anything loose fitting...which I'm sure you have noticed on your own."
Laila laughed softly, shaking her head. She loved her brother for a reason. She sobered when he did. "No. Not recently." She admitted softly. "Is it really bad?" She asked, worried. She almost didn't want to know the answer. Krissy brightened up at that and she nodded, bouncing on her toes. "Yes! Yes please!" She said, jogging towards the hallway. He seemed well enough now, though she wasn't certain he was all better, and now this whole event was behind them.
Luke's smile was soft. "Yes, I have noticed." He admitted, shrugging. "So we go shopping and buy you some nice clothes that wont scream baby belly." he offered. "I'm sure your parents wont mind if I buy you a few things." He said, smiling.
Andrew sighed "She just stays in bed...I've had to come over and feed Mitsy because she won't...Ive talked to a doctor about it...they don't take it seriously..."Razor smiled and opened the door showing her the small room "We'll paint it whatever color you want...bring in all of your stuff, it'll look really nice..." he said poking her side.
Kenna giggled and nodded "There's a cute maternity store at the mall...we can shop there?"
Laila chewed her lip, a nervous habit, and swallowed. "I... I feel bad for not visiting.... But I suppose I have been avoiding it." She whispered, her eyes watering. "I hate seeing her like that, Ands. I wish I could just remember her how she was when she was healthy, but I know that is selfish."Krissy grinned, thrilled, and she ran over, kissing his cheek and then leaping on the bed. "I have my own bedroom!!!" She squealed, laughing in glee. "You're probably going to get annoyed with me after a couple days..." She winked.
Luke nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a great idea." He agreed, kissing her cheek. "Goodnight baby. We'all ship tomorrow. In the mean time, sleep well."
Andrew shook his head "Don't feel bad, it's really hard to see her that way. I wish that she was the way she was before dad left...but there's nothing I can do about it."Razor chuckled and shook his head "Not true...I love having you around kid, I'll try to take care of you the way you deserve to be...let's go to the store tomorrow and pick up some things."
Kenna nodded and smiled "You too..." she yawned and passed out completely immersed in his warmth.
Laila's gaze softened and she nodded her agreement, reaching over to squeeze his hand. "You've done more for this family than we deserve, Ands, so you don't go beating yourself up over it either, ok?" She said seriously.Krissy nodded, slipping off her bed again. "I'd love to go shopping tomorrow." She agreed, trotting into the kitchen. She opened up the fridge and was disappointed to find it filled with drinks instead of food. "And we're going to need to get some things to help you through withdrawal, I think." She said, pulling out his beer bottles and depositing them in the trash.
Luke fell asleep shortly after her, and his dreams were full of sunshine and rainbows. He only frowned in his sleep slightly whenever a baby came into the picture. By morning, he was refreshed again and on his feet, making breakfast for Kenna for when she woke up.
Andrew nodded and smiled pecking her cheek "you are ok kiddo...do you want to get into bed? Or are you still feeling queasy...it's too late to drive back so i'll stay..."Razor wanted to protest but just let it happen, this was how he was going to get sober and clean. He had to just do whatever the little squirt said.
Kenna woke up and felt sick, she threw up in the bucket near the bed and moaned plopping back on the cool pillows.
Laila sighed softly, rubbing her temples. "I'm going to have a crazy headache tomorrow." She mumbled. "But I think it might be best to head to bed. You're welcome to join me."When Krissy had cleaned out practically his whole fridge, leaving only some old pizza and a couple apples, she wrinkled her nose in distaste and shook her head. "Do you know how to cook? Or actually buy real food?" She teased, moving over to grab a glass of water for herself. She got one for Razor too and handed it to him. "Might seem crazy, but drinks can be healthy too. Meet water. Water is your new best friend." She said, downing her own glass in two gulps.
Luke finished up the eggs he had made her, making sure to add lots and lots of cheese into them, before bringing the eggs, toast, and tea in for her, setting them by her bedside. "Morning, peanut." He said, kissing her forehead before he moved to clean out the bucket for her.
Andrew nodded "I'll sleep on the couch." he picked her up and got her tucked in with a bucket by her bed just in case. "night Goose..."Razor rolled his eyes and downed the water as well, he hated how flavorless it was. "Can I at least drink soda or juice?" he asked pulling out the newest slice of pizza and chowing down.
Kenna smiled and sighed "You don't have to do that baby...I'll clean it up, it is my mess afterall..." she ate the eggs quickly "Mmm so good..."
Laila smiled softly up at him. "Goodnight." she whispered, letting her eyes fall shut. "And thanks for today. For coming so quickly." She said, yawning once before she fell asleep.Krissy raised one eyebrow, thinking about that for a moment. "On special occassions." She finally decided. "For now, water is going to help get rid of all the alcohol still in your system." She said, searching through the cupboards. She finally found one package of pasta. Just hard noodles, not kraft thankfully, and she started to boil it on the stove. "You need to start eating better. I eat better than moldy pizza in the ghettos." She teased, pouring some tomato sauce over the pasta.
Luke shook his head, walking into the bathroom to rinse it out. "Nonesense. You're in bed, and Its my job to care for you." he said, returning the bucket to its place. "I'm glad you like my cooking." he smiled deviously.
Razor rolled his eyes "You are worse than a home nurse Kriss! I'm not that bad...I eat at restaurants and things...I'm not completely helpless, and juice is good for you..." he said sitting at the table and watching her cook.KEnna smiled and cleaned up getting dressed and frowning in the mirror "I'm fat..." she complained hating the way she looked.
Krissy laughed softly. "No. I'm good for you." She put the pot on the table and got out plates for them both, before sitting down. "Bon appetite." She said, scooping out a lump for herself. "We can get some juice when we go shopping. I'll let you take care of yourself when you prove you can." She grinned at him. Luke came back over and moved to stand behind her, hugging around her waist. He kissed her cheek and her neck. "No. You're not. You're with child, and you are beautiful." He said softly, smiling at their reflection in the mirror.
Razor grimbled and ate the pasta "your like an adorable health dictator..." He mumbled sipping his water "it's so tasteless! And I just feel tired, not energized at all."Kenna smiled and leaned back into his arms "we are an adorable couple you know that? I bet the others get jealous all the time."
Krissy sighed, eating her own food. "That's because you're used to alcohol. Once you're used to water and juice again, it won't be so bad, I promise. You'll find energy other ways, ok?" She said gently. She wasn't trying to be bossy, she was just very worried about him. She picked at her food, no longer smiling. Luke smiled at her, nodding his agreement. "Yes, yes we are. And I'm sure the other's are all teeming with jealousy." He laughed softly and tucked her hair behind her ear. "Ready to go shopping?"
Razor sighed and hugged her close "come here, I'm not upset at you...I'm so grateful that someone still cares enough...I love you sis...ok? Please don't be sad..."Kenna nodded grabbing her purse and taking his arm "can you survive a mall?" She teased squeezing his arm "it is s scary place after all...filled with girls and clothes."
Krissy sat on his lap and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face against him. She nearly started crying, but she forced herself not to. She couldn't get emotional, she had to stay strong. "I love you too." She whispered, tightening her grip. Luke chuckled softly, grabbing a jacket from the hook on the wall. He slipped it on and glanced at the mirror before heading for the door. "Sounds horrifying." he joked, pulling out his keys. "Don't know why you girls go there for fun..."
Razor smiled and hugged her close "You know...I remember holding you for the first time when you were born...you opened your eyes to look right at me and just smiled...you were the sweetest and happiest baby...I just adored you."Kenna laughed and gave a smile "We like clothes, we like to look nice for our guys...plus there is delicious corn dogs and frozen yogurt there!"
Krissy let out a small laugh. "I don't think I remember that..." She said, shaking her head. "But I remember you teaching me how to ride a bike... and helping try and save that kitten from a tree. And our water balloon fights." She smiled softly. Luke shook his head, starting up the car and driving off to the mall. "Ok, so maybe it doesn't sound too bad." he smiled as he parked and got out again. "Do you know where this store you would like to go is located?"
Razor smiled and nodded "I remember kicking that bullies butt when he made fun of you...and helping you with your homework...we had a lot of fun squirt, I guess that ended when I started drinking..."Kenna nodded and smiled leading him to the little boutique "Isn't it cute? I always wanted to get clothes here...I guess my wish came true a bit early."
Krissy laughed softly then, remembering. "Yes, we had lots of fun." She agreed softly. She didn't like to remember why it all had stopped. "But now that you're going to get better again... everything will be good again."Luke looked around the store and smiled. They did have some nice looking clothes here.
