Sam helped her to her room and sat down on the bed tucking her in "she'll never really leave you...remember our talk about Heaven? She's watching over you..."Mary smiled and nodded "alright let's go get a cookie." She asked Martha for cookies and milk.
Stefan nodded "of course I was, I wanted to connect our family...instead I broke it..."
Arwyn nodded weakly, cuddling in with the blankets. She hoped he was right, that her mother was up there. "Don't go, please." She requested, not wanting to be alone, not after what happened. Julien was thrilled when the cookies came, thinking that he cashed out on the lottery. He was too young to really understand why everyone was so sad.
Charlotte turned then and cupped his face in her hands. "No Stefan. You were always the one who held our family together. I am sorry that I ended up driving you away, that was my fault not yours."
Sam nodded and sat by the bed rubbing her back "I'm not going anywhere..." He promised glad he made the decision to stay last night and not head back home.Mary sighed bringing Jude some food "Jude...they have to take the body...it can't stay here, it's not Drina."
Stefan shook his head kissing her forehead "I shouldn't have forbid anything or got angry."
Arwyn nodded, glad he would be there to protect her. She needed protection right now. She felt so lost inside. Letting her eyes close, she tried to fall asleep. "Thank you." She whispered. Jude nodded tiredly, grateful for the food she brought. "I know. But Jay's not going to be happy about that."
Charlotte smiled weakly. "So shall we call it even and forget about it?" She asked, looking up at him.
Sam nodded "I'm here for you...just sleep Arwyn..."Mary sighed leaning into him "how could this have happened?"
Stefan stroke her cheek, and kissed her neck "I need you..."
Arwyn nodded, yawning a little as she felt herself drift off. But her sleep was fitful, and she didn't have nice dreams. They kept flashing her images of her dead mother. Jude wrapped his arms around her and sighed softly. "Life is an uncertain thing, Mary. We all die at some point, and I can not explain why we go when we do."
Charlotte closed her eyes, liking his kisses very much. "I love you." She whispered back.
Sam opened one of her books and curled up reading, he didn't know how to help her and that frustrated him. He hated to see anyone sad, If he lost his mom he would die.Mary dighed and heard the door "that's the funeral director now..."
Stefan nodded "I want to see Tide...I need to make things right."
Arwyn woke a little while later, trembling with fear. She pretended she was still asleep however, not wanting to bother Sam. So she just curled up tighter under her blankets and tried to fall back asleep again. Jude nodded and stood, going to the door. "I'll answer it." He promised, opening it up.
Charlotte nodded in understanding. "Of course." She agreed. "let's go then." She changed their course towards Tide's cottage.
Sam felt the energy change in the room, as one does one the feel like the person is awake. You just know somehow...he gently stroked her pale face with his forefinger "you ok?..." he whispered just in case she really was still asleep.The funeral director came with a metal squeaking gurney "Lead me to the body." he said with a monotone passive tone in his voice. Mary stood and led him to the room "Drina..." she corrected not wanting him to think of her as just some corpse. He waved away her comment and picked up the body releasing the hand that was stiff from rigor mortis away from Jay's.
Stefan looked around at the forest, his mind full of thoughts involving their relationship and whether his son could forgive him. Perhaps he didn't give this girl a chance...maybe she found it amazing that he had a tail.
Sam was finishing washing up the dishes in the large tub in the middle of the cabin. It had two rooms their bedroom and the main room which consisted of the kitchen and sitting room. She wiped her hair away from her brow, Tide was searching for a job in the city.
Arwyn sighed softly when he spoke. She couldn't feign sleep when he knew she was awake. She let her eyes open slowly and shook her head a little. "Not really." She whispered in all honesty. Jay at first, didn't respond at all, his hand just fell limply to the bed. Then, as Drina was carted away, Jay seemed to sense that she was leaving and his eyes opened, his head lifting off the bed. When he saw what was happening, he sprang off the bed and shot after the cart. "No!" He shouted. "You can't take her!"
Jude jumped in and grabbed him, holding him tight, trying to keep him still and get him calm again. "she's dead. Stop it Jay, she's dead."
"Don't say that!" He cried, struggling. "She's not dead! She's not! She can't be!"
Charlotte found the cottage once more and smiled softly. She squeezed Stefan's hand. "Just try to be nice to her, ok?" She kissed his cheek and then stepped up to the door, knocking on it.
Sam scooted close and started to read the book to her, something to get her mind off of reality "the Princess looked at the mirror in it she saw her prince riding on a great white stallion towards her but when she turned all she saw was the pitiful farm boy."Mary blocked him and had him sit down "you promised her Jay, to take care of the children...and yourself...your son is stuffing his face with cookies and your daughter...do you even know where she is?"
Sam stood and wiped her hands on her apron, quickly going to the door "oh hello! I'm sorry Tide is not here but you can come in if you'd like."
Arwyn sat up a little more, tucking the blankets around her. She listened to him read and soon got pulled into the story, her worries and fears momentarily forgotten. Jay shook his head, and curled up, suddenly feeling very weak and defeated. "How can I care for them without her? I can't do anything without her." He held his face in his hands and wept.
Jude sighed softly and stepped away, squeezing Mary's hand. "We should give him some time Mary, he needs to come to terms with what's happened on his own."
Charlotte smiled at Sam when she opened the door. "Thank you." She stepped in, taking Stefan's hand to make sure he would come too. "This is my husband, Tide's father, and he wanted to meet you and talk to Tide." She explained.
Sam worked the story, adding voices and expression to really draw her in and make her forget reality if only a short while. Mary sighef and nodded closing the bedroom door softly, she sank into the arm chair tiredly and brought his hand to her face "he's not going to be able to work for awhile..."
Sam nodded and took off her apron trying to be a geacious hostess "can I get you anything to drink? I'm working on Apple cider right now. It's Tide's favorite and I'm trying to make his birthday wonderful."
Arwyn moved a little closer to him so she could lay her head on his shoulder. She closed her eyes so she could imagine what was happening in her mind, and by "The End" she was fast asleep again, and smiling.Jude nodded, "I can manage without him until he picks up his feet again." he sat beside her, "Are you alright?" He asked gently.
Charlotte shook her head politely. "Oh no, it's alright, thank you. I'm glad you remembered his birthday. We were going to have a party for him, but then he left... and that dissolved I suppose. How is the cider coming on?"
((Do you want to skip a couple of months maybe a year?))Sam smiled "delicious I hope! It's wonderful to use the forest resources and the apples have been wonderful. I'm sure he'd love to have you over for his birthday Im still pretty new at this wife thing." She said honestly and smiled "but we are happy...even in our tiny abode."
((Sure. Let's determine everyone's situation before we jump. What will have been happening with Mary and Jude? And how old will Sam and Arwyn be now?))Charlotte nodded, smiling gently at her. "I always wanted a daughter." She said honestly. "And I am so thankful that my son is happy with someone. Since Tide is not here at the moment, Stefan and I should probably take our leave. We'll come back again for Tide's birthday." She promised.
((Should they be expecting a child? Or trying to have a child and being unsuccessful? Sam would be at school I assume he's be 7 going on 8 and Arwyn would be 5 probably learning magic. Julien would be 3 and Justice 1.))Sam nodded and hugged them both "thank you for dropping by, I'll let him know..." She was interrupted by the door as Tide came in "Tide!" She leaped in his arms and kissed him forgetting about his parents. They hadn't been together for a couple of days.
((Both of those options sound good, the latter might add more Drama. Maybe Jay sent Arwyn to a secret boarding school for magic, as he figured he couldn't teach her well enough? Idk. Sounds good though :) ))Tide hugged her tight, kissing her quickly. "I missed you." He whispered, smiling brightly. It was only then that he noticed his parents. He smiled seeing Charlotte, and then winced. "Hi Dad." he said softly, nervous.
((Alright we'll go with the latter! And maybe Areyn meets a new guy friend and Sam and her start to part ways because of the age differences but really they still are best friends and more in later times))Stefan smiled and stood "Tide...I want to apologize for everything I said...I was devestated when you left, I love you and your wife is wonderful I'm happy for you."
((Sounds good :) ))Arywn packed up her school books and slid them in her bag before walking out of the classroom and back through the hallways of the school, it was the end of another monotonous day, learning the same old things.
Jude walked into the bedroom and up to Mary from behind, wrapping his arms around her. "Morning darling. Just got back from a quick walk around the grounds." he explained. "Did you sleep alright?"
Tide smiled, thrilled that his father accepted Sam and him again. Hugged his father quickly, "I missed you." he said honestly.
Grace waited patiently and smiled "how was spells Ar? Learn anything cool?" She was so grateful to have such a good best friend, she was such a talented witch.Mary smiled and nodded "I just...we try so hard to have this child and nothing..." She said lightly, trying not to feel the emotions that plagued her.
Stefan held him and nodded "missed you more kid...I want to help you with your new family."
Arwyn shrugged. "Same old. Mrs Gwennith just couldn't stop talking about her cats!" She shook her head, chuckling softly. Jude nodded slowly, kissing her neck, and then her cheek. "Don't worry. We'll keep trying." He promised. "And I'm sure we'll have another soon enough."
Tide nodded eagerly. "I need your help. I need advice, and I need it badly. I'm not used to any of this."
Grace laughed lightly and flicked her wrist levitating their book bags and books "well next is charms and I'm there with you so you can't be bored! And so is Leon..." She grinned.Mary sighed and nodded "we do everything right...we deserve this baby...and yet nothing..."
Stefan nodded "I'm here, I promise. But you seem to be doing pretty well for yourself!"
Arwyn grinned sheepishly and nodded. "well that should be more fun...." she said, grinning. She couldn't keep from blushing a little. Jude sighed softly in resignation and nodded. "I know, baby, I know. But we can't give up hope yet." He kissed her gently. "I do believe we will get a child eventually."
Tide smiled a little, "Thank you. That means a lot. But I am glad that I have someone I can talk to about these things."
Grace laughed and tugged at her "you should sit by him! Actually talk to him!" She urged with a grin moving her bangs behind her ear.Mary sighed and picked up the laundry in there room "well we have Sam, but he's off to school and will be grown before we know it!"
Stefan nodded and smirked "don't ask me when your wife is pregnant though...that's your mother's knowledge."
Arywn shushed her as they entered the class. She didn't want Leon hearing. "I'll try it once." She whispered, moving over to sit by him. "Hi..."Jude nodded, sighing softly. "Yes, he's our little man." It was sad really, that he grew up so fast.
Tide laughed softly. "But you still know more about fathering that Mom does." He pointed out. "Well, now that you guys are here, please stay for supper."
Leon looked up and gave a half smile, he was pretty shy and didn't speak English all too well "hello..."Grace sat on the other side grateful for the front row seat to the show.
Katherine rushed through the woods, her arms were scratched and her dress in shreds. She tripped crying out and landing near a small lake at a large abide. Night time would be over soon and she wouldn't remember any of it.
Mary nodded and took a deep breath "how's the railroad coming? Jude is back at work? Or still moping about."
Stefan nodded "we'd love to...that is if your lovely wife doesn't mind." Sam shook her head with a smile "not at all! Just let me get something whipped up."
Arwyn smiled brightly. "I'm Arwyn. And I'm a witch." Not all the kids here were witches after all, there were all kinds of magic folk here, and a name, species greeting was customary. Julien had been walking around in the backyard when he heard a sound, nearby. Tensing, he frowned, "hello?" He called softly.
Jude laughed softly. "I'm trying to work dear." He said honestly. "But the railroad is coming along well."
Charlotte and tide both smiled, glad that they were able to spend time with their family. "Wonderful." Charlotte said. "I can help with cooking if you'd like." She offered.
Leon smiled and nodded "Leon...I'm a warlock..." He said quietly and shook her hand. He doodled on the parchment "so...where are you from?..."Katharine groaned obviously needing medical help, bloody fur covered her cloak and under her fingernails. She saw the small boy and reached out "help..."
Mary batted his shoulder lightly "not you, Jay!"
Sam nodded gratefully "I don't know how to make much yet!"
Arwyn smiled, liking the sound of that. She had no idea what a warlock was, but it sounded pretty cool. "I used to live up north, with my family. But they sent me down here to learn well... how to be a witch." She shrugged. "What about you?"Julien's eyes widened when he saw the battered girl and nodded slowly, shocked. "I'll be right back." He promised, running to the house. "Help!" He called to anyone who might hear. "There's a girl outside and she's hurt!"
Jude laughed and nodded. "I know that's what you meant dear, I was teasing. He's working away, but he doesn't seem very happy about anything." He said honestly.
Charlotte smiled brightly, walking into the kitchen with her. "Well I can help out with that!" She promised. "Let's make something quick and easy, like pasta."
Leon nodded "I'm from eastern Europe...my family had to escape, magic is gone there...so I came here to learn and be safe."Martha knocked on Jay's study "sir...your son is telling me that there is a girl outside needing medical assistance."
Mary sighef and nodded "haven't seen him smile at all...I worry about those boys. He won't even hold Justice..."
Sam nodded and bit her lip "I don't have any noodles..."
Arwyn looked surprised. "Europe! My mother was from there and I've always wanted to visit." She said honestly. "It sounds so far away..."Jay sighed softly. Usually he would think up some excuse for others to leave him alone, but if there was someone hurt, then he knew he wouldn't get out of this one. He got up and slowly went outside, following Julien to the girl. He frowned a little, wondering what had happened to her. Lifting her into his arms, he carried her back inside to the house and lay her in the guest bedroom, ringing the doctor and telling the maids to care for her before he went back to his study.
Jude nodded slowly. "I wonder if he'll ever pull out of this Mary, it's been months and he still can't move on. He doesn't want to live without her."
Lexi smiled gently. "That's alright dear, we'll make do with whatever is available." She promised. "What do you have?"
Leon nodded "it's very far...I miss it, it's hard to learn the language and culture. Witches aren't common here?"Martha sighed and opened the study door "sir...you can't stay in here, maybe helping this girl will distract you."
Mary sighed "I wouldn't either if it was you...I just, think if he met someone..."
Sam showed her the cupboard "this is it."
Arwyn shook her head. "Not common at all." She said honestly. "And as for the language and culture, I could try to help you with that." She offered.Jay hunched in his chair and shook his head. Something about what she said struck a nerve. "I don't want a distraction. I want my wife back." He growled. "Leave me be." He sighed softly. "And let me know how she's doing when the doctor comes."
Jude nodded slowly. "I know." He hugged her gently. "And I'm trying to help pull him out of it."
Charlotte looked through the supplies and smiled. "You have bread and meat and cheese. We can make sandwiches.
Leon smiled "You are very kind Arwyn...I'm glad that I have met a friend. People seem to not like to talk here at all..." Martha sighed and nodded, she looked up as the doctor came in "thank you for coming...the girl is in there..."
Mary sighed and nodded "You'd be the one to do it love...I think we need to prepare dinner."
Sam nodded and smiled "I suppose that sounds good...I made that cheese last week and that's rabbit meat."
Arwyn smiled softly. "I'm glad to have you as a friend as well. You're right about not many people talking. They're all nervous all the time." She said honestly. "Don't want to take a wrong turn I suppose. You can't blame them. We've grown up fearing the humans."The doctor nodded and went in to check on her. He did a quick assessment and frowned. "There is blood on her, but it isn't from any of her wounds." He said, checking her heartbeat. "Something else must have gotten wounded as well." He gently bandaged up the girl's arm, putting it in a sling.
Jude nodded. "Or we could just have the maids do it..." He offered tiredly. To be honest, he was rather exhausted with this whole Jay situation. His friend had practically been a zombie since his wife had died.
Charlotte smiled brightly. "Perfect. Want to cut up some of it so we can put it in the sandwiches?" she suggested, pulling it down from the cupboard.
Grace frowned "but if we fear humans it is the same as them fearing us..."Leon nodded "my father was human...till he was killed, they aren't bad people."
Martha frowned "this is wolf hair. There are no wolves in those woods..."
Mary pecked his cheek "go rest, read...relax."
Sam nodded and began to cut it in slices "Wil you stay close by?...we all need help."

Arwyn sighed softly. "I am not sure what I believe about humans." She said honestly. "I used to have one as my best friend, but my mother was killed by another human." She said softly. The doctor frowned. "Very strange indeed, and we must find out about it later. But for now, she needs rest. When she wakes, call me again, and I will try to figure out what happened." he said, packing up his supplies.
Jude nodded, kissing her cheek gently. "don't hesitate to ask if you need anything." He said seriously, and went off to rest for a bit.
Charlotte cut four buns in half to make them each a sandwich. "I don't know where Stefan and I will live now." She said honestly. "We haven't decided yet."
Grace pat her shoulder sympathetically and sighed "They burnt her on the stake..." she told Leon and sighed "It destroyed her family and her dad sent her here since he couldn't handle her being there..."Martha nodded "Thank you doctor...do you have any more of that anti depressant medication?...I think Jay is getting worse again, he won't even see the boys..."
Mary nodded and went to write to Sam.
My dear son,
I hope that you are doing well, your father has been overworking himself. Jay hasn't changed since the incident and Arwyn is at the school. Miss you every day.

Sam nodded "I think Tide would like to have you close by...he missed you a lot."
Arywn sighed softly, closing her eyes. "It's ok. It was a while ago now, and I'd rather not talk about it." She said softly, opening her eyes again and looking up at them again. "What classes do you have?" She asked Leon. The Doctor nodded sadly. "Of course." He said, rummaging around before pulling out a bottle for her. "I'm sorry to hear that he's not better." He said seriously. "Don't give him too much of this, just the regular dose in the evening. Hopefully it helps."
Josh, Sam's best friend in the all boys boarding school bounced on his bed and grinned. "Whatcha reading?" He asked. "Got a girlfriend?" He teased, grinning.
Charlotte nodded smiling softly. "I'll ask Stefan if we can stay close." She promised.
Leon handed her his schedule "not sure, I was going to ask the teacher but he just told me to sit down and be quiet..."Martha nodded "thank you again..."
Katharine started to wake up, she thrashed attacking an invisible foe "leave me alone!"
Sam shoved him off the bed "buzz off!" He folded the letter up and sighed throwing his sweater off and plopping on the pillows.
Sam smiled and nodded "thank you..."
Arwyn grinned. "You have three classes with me! Charms, spells, potions, and mythical creatures. The last is English, which I suppose would be a helpful class for you to take." She smiled brightly. The doctor nodded, glancing at Kathrine thrashing on the bed. "You might want to call Jay in at somepoint if she doesn't calm down." He commented, taking his leave out the door.
Josh climbed onto his own bed and rolled his eyes. "I was playing man, why are you so tense today? It's not like you." He commented, tossing a ball above him and catching it repeatedly.
Charlotte smiled gently. "You are family after all. But our house will have to be near the ocean to some extent, for obvious reasons. We did have one incident where I was suffocating on land."
Leon smiled glad to have a friend to get through these classes with. He stared at the bubbling cauldron in front of them "so what do we do?"Martha tried to calm the girl down but it was like she was in a whole other world, she knocked on the study door "sir it's me...I need help with our guest. Please!"
Sam sighed "it's from my mum...things aren't good at home alright?" Also Arwyn hasn't written for weeks now guess she made some more interesting friends.
Sam nodded "Tide uses the small lake down the creek...it helps him unwind and we always have fresh fish to eat."
Arwyn looked down at the text and thought for a moment. "add two mandrake root, and one diamond it looks like." She said, digging around through the nearby cupboard for the ingredients. Jay sighed, not able to come up with an excuse so he sighed and nodded. He got up and walked into the room, a little wierded out by the thrashing girl. He lay his hand on her shoulder. "Miss... you're safe here." he said gently.
Josh sighed. "Sorry dude, I had no idea." He put the ball down and sat up. "How bad is it? If you don't mind me asking."
Charlotte nodded, smiling softly. "Then I'm sure we can live nearby." She carried the sandwiches to the table. "Lunch is ready!"
Leon searched the cupboards and found the squalling mandrake plant. He frowned not really wanting to kill it. Katharine shook her head "you aren't though..." She tried to sit up but found it nearly impossible "I have to go..."
Sam sighed and sat up "just...my dad working far too much, my mom is depressed and my best friend hasn't contacted me at all."
Awryn found a couple small diamonds, which she immediately popped into the pot, turning it into a shimmering colour. "Got those roots?"Jay frowned a little, slightly unnerved by that comment. He gently pushed her back down to the bed. "You need to rest, at least for a little while. Why are we not safe here?"
Josh huffed. "Maybe its time for a family reunion?" He suggested. "Might do you and them good if you go back and see them again." He offered, trying to be helpful.
Leon frowned and shook his head "I didn't think it would be alive...I can't kill it!" He said distraught.Katharine shook her head "no I have to go before night fall..." She tried to get up again "thank you for your compassion but I've got to go!"
Sam sighed "maybe...well how's your family?"
Arwyn smiled at him gently. "It's just a plant Leon, all plants are alive." She walked over. "It's not anything different from killing grass or cutting down a tree."Jay shook his head, urging her down again. "No. You are not well. You must rest longer. There are still a few hours until nightfall, but you are more than welcome to stay the night."
Josh shrugged. "Haven't seen them in a while either. They don't write though, you're lucky to get letters. I think they were rather relieved when I left." He said honestly.
Julien shook his head, curling up against her. "Mummy..." He mumbled. Then he seemed to think better of the opportunity. "Cookie?"
Charlotte smiled softly. "You were going to take me to meet your father?" She asked, touched. "Ok. Well. I believe you. I guess the strange feeling is just because I'm not used to being cooled all the time."
