Sam nodded and lay on the grass "fascinating, so what if you asked your parents to go to school with me?"Drina sighed in relief "boy or girl?..." She asked pressing his hand against her sweaty face.
Sam nodded and took his hand "I would like that very much...If you want it..."
Stefan quickly got her out and to his room getting her a very special drink that would cool her down. "He nor you want me...you blame me and you are correct in that."
Arwyn chewed her lip nervously, climbing off the swing to come lay beside him. "They would say no." She said softly. She was a witch. She could go nowhere. Jay caressed her cheek with his thumb. "Boy Drina. Arwyn is outnumbered now, but Julian has a little brother." he said, smiling brightly. Two sons. He was a lucky man, he knew that much.
Tide blushed brighter, "I would... I would like that very much." He stammered, a little awkward about this whole situation, even though he did want her oh so very much. "We are married after all, right?" He added a little shyly.
Charlotte sighed in relief when she felt some sort of liquid run down her throat, cooling her body once more. She blinked a couple times and looked around her. "Is there lava on that wall?" She asked, surprised, too much so to respond to him at first. Then she swallowed. "I never said I didn't want you Stefan, did my one comment make you think that?" She asked, hurt. "But no matter. You broke things off Stefan, we can't change that. But you can help me find our son."
Sam sighed "I wish you could, it won't be as fun without you Miss Arwynn Jane."Drina smiled "good...we need more boys...to turn into dashing men." Less chance of them becoming a witch as well "may I see him?"
Sam nodded "we are...and I love having you as my husband. I just want to be with you...show how much I care for you."
Stefan sighed "he's off with that girl...he won't want to come home."
Arwyn blushed softly. "I would so like to come with you, Sam. But I cant. My mother would never let me because I'm a... I mean... never mind." She stumbled hastily. Jay nodded, getting up to pick up the baby and gently place him in her arms. "Sweetheart, isn't he?" He whispered.
Tide smiled then, kissing her cheek. "Its settled then. But for now. Let's eat this stew!" He said, pulling off the pot from the fire and setting it on the table.
Charlotte winced. "Do you care that little about him? Of course he wont come back. I don't mean to make him. I just need to see him Stefan. I need to see our son. Make sure he is ok." She whispered, looking down at her hands. She hated being alone.
Sam frowned "you're a what?..." He asked confused and sat up looking at her.Drina smiled "oh he's beautiful look at those dark eyes...what shall we name him?"
Sam nodded happily and took a bite pulling apart the bread and handing it to him.
Stefan flinched "I love my son! I just refuse to make him hate me even more, he wants nothing to do with me. Please Char...find someone that will treat you right...have many children"
Arwyn winced and looked up at him slowly. "Don't tell anyone! My mother would skin me." She swallowed. "I'm a witch."Jay smiled brightly. "A real charmer already." He hugged her. "Did you have any name in mind?"
Tide bit into it and sighed happily. "I didn't know how hungry I was until now." He commented, taking another bite.
Charlotte winced, looking up at him. "You don't get it, do you?"" She whispered, her eyes watering. "You nearly killed me with that note, Stefan. My heart can't love again." She could never force herself near another man. She didn't want to cry around Stefan though, not now that he wasn't her husband anymore. "Please show me the way out." She said, standing. "I should like to go now."
Sam blinked "wow, that's really cool. Is that why you can't leave? No one would know."Drina pecked his cheek and shook her head "you name him..."
Sam nodded and slowly sipped at it "Mmm so good!"
Stefan took her hand and then let go "I will never stop loving you...I left because I ruined our family, I ruin everything..."
Arwyn nodded slowly and sighed. "Someone could find out. And then I'd be burned on a stake like Mom was." she explained. "I don't want to die Sam, I really don't."Jay smiled then, and thought for a moment. "I like the names Aspen and Justice, but both of those are similar to names we already have..." he chewed his lip. "Do you like either of them, or am I just strange?"
Tide smiled, glad that she liked his cooking. "Thank you for catching the rabbits." He said between mouthfuls. "Fresh meat really makes everything taste better."
Charlotte looked away from him then, barely able to contain the throbbing in her chest. "Don't say that Stefan. Don't you dare say you love me when you left me by myself!" She cried. She calmed again quickly and soon had her face emotionless once more. "You can not change that you broke it off now. If you will not show me out, then I will find the door myself. Good day." she said, leaving his room to try and wander the endless halls of the volcano to find some sort of entrance out of it again.
Sam frowned and hugged her "I won't let you die Arwyn...I promise. I won't tell anyone." He held up his pinky for a pinky swear.Drina smiled and moved his lip from his teeth "you are very strange, but I love both of them...Aspen could be a very pretty girl name as well."
Sam nodded "I'm glad that I knew how! If we are going to live out here, we need to know certain skills."
Stefan sighed and led her out of the door and handed her the cooling vial "drink that..." He said quietly.
Arwyn smiled a little then, and shook pinkies with him. "I'll ask mum about school." She said decisively. "She might say yes if I can be persuasive enough."Jay blushed softly and nodded. "Then we'll save Aspen for any future girls, and our little boy can be named Justice." He decided, pecking her cheek. "With your permission of course my darling."
Tide nodded slowly, sighing. "Skills I'm finding I know less of than you do. I could survive in an ocean, but I'm afraid my family was always rather ill equipped for land."
Charlotte took the vial and drank it quickly, handing it back to him without a thank you or a goodbye. She just wrapped her shawl tighter around herself and turned towards the expanse of desert that eventually melded with the forest again. Time to continue my wandering... Tide you better be out there somewhere.
Sam smiled "you'd like it, we have lessons and lunch time. When I get big I get to go away for school and live there. Dad says it's the journey of a man."Drina nodded and nuzzled little Justice "good strong name...ironically perfect since we he was born at such a trying time."
Sam smiled "I like sea food a lot, you could catch us some. We'll manage very well."
Stefan watched her until she was just a speck on the horizon he sighed and went to the throne room to speak to his father.
Arwyn smiled at first, nodding and saying, "that sounds like fun. Then he said he would go away fro school and she looked up, shocked. "But then I'd be all alone!" She said, worried about being left at school without him.Jay nodded slowly. "I'm so sorry I am so so sorry that I wasn't there to save you darling... I never thought that..." He swallowed.
Tide smiled then, glad he had something he could do. "Sure thing!" He agreed. "We'll be very well off here. Getting fat on rabbit and lobster." He smiled.
Charlotte convinced herself that she would do fine alone. She had been alone for many years before... Charlotte tried to keep from crying as she forced herself to keep walking through the now dark forest.
Sam frowned "you'll probably be practicing spells and stuff! Ill come home and we can be together ok? It's a long time from now."Drina shook her head and kissed him "shhh it's not your fault, you saved my life...again." She smirked caressing his cheek.
Sam giggled and nodded, she paused seeing a figure outside "who's that?..."
Arwyn nodded slowly in resignation. "Don't be gone too long." she grumbled softly, not liking that he would go at all. It was like losing her big brother. "So. Besides school, what do you do around here?"Jay smiled a little then. "You know how to make me feel better." He commented. "But I still wish I had gotten there sooner."
Tide looked up and gasped. "My mother!" He exclaimed, jumping up and going to the door. "Mum! What are you doing here?"
Charlotte gasped and ran up, hugging him tight. "Checking to make sure you were alright..." She said, sighing in relief. "And I finally found you."
Sam shrugged "not much, I have a rather boring life...not like you! Can you do magic and potions?"Drina nodded "I know love...if I had or do die, you need to teach Arwynn...there's an old book under the chest that has everything..."
Sam stepped back worried that she'd take him away, after all he was forbidden to see her. She wished she could fix this.
Arwyn smiled shyly. "Magic and potions? Not yet, I'm learning though. I do know a few tricks." She admitted softly. Jay shook his head, pressing his finger to her lips. "Don't talk like that. Not yet Drina. You have a long life ahead of you."
Tide shook his head. "But why are you here!"
Charlotte sighed, pulling away from him. "I had to find you Tide. I'm not here to take you back. I'm here because I love you, and I want you to have a good life, and I wanted you to know that." She said honestly.
Tide sighed then, smiling. "Thanks mom." he hugged her back. "I will be happy here."
Charlotte smiled. "I'll bother you no longer then. Let your girl know I said hi." She said, hugging him once more before she turned to go. "Feel free to come find me and visit some time." She called back, before she disappeared off into the forest again.
Sam still was grinning ear to ear practically bouncing he was so excited "can you show me one?"Drina sighed "but if it does...she needs to be taught, you would have to teach her...I'm not trying to be depressing but...obviously Im not out of the woods yet..."
Sam peeked back out and smiled softly "you look happier" she commented and took his hand, he got closure and that's all she wanted for him.
Arwyn nodded slowly. "Sure." She figured it would be alright... Focusing on her magic, she caused her hand to glow, and then very carefully, very slowly, she lifted it off her palm and had the little glowing sphere float there. "You can keep it." She offered. Jay sighed softly. "If that happens, which it won't. I will take care of Arwyn and teach her." He promised, kissing her cheek. "But you will get better."
Tide nodded and moved inside then. "Yes. I am happier. But worried as well. It's unlike mother to go anywhere without father." He said honestly. "But I am sure everything is fine." He kissed her gently. "At least she approves of us."
Sam watched in amazement at the glowing light, he gingerly cupped it in his hands and watched with glowing eyes "this is incredible!"Drina smiked and nodded "how are the other children?...they don't know do they?"
Sam smiled and nodded kissing him back "we shall visit often if you'd like, it's not too far from this place right?"
Arwyn smiled shyly, feeling herself glow with pride. "Thank you." She said, watching him stare at the little ball of light in his hands. "It's tricky to do at first, but I'm learning."Jay shook his head. "They know you aren't feeling well, but I didn't tell the extent of what happened." He said honestly. "Unless someone else told them, they don't know how you got burnt."
Tide nodded, smiling then. "Yes, that would be nice. It isn't too far, and I don't like being cut from my family completely." He started to clean up their breakfast dishes.
Sam nodded and threw the ball up grinning as it danced around and then landed back in his palm "handy little light."Drina nodded "I don't want to worry them, especially Arwyn..."
Sam nodded but she thought about her father as he said that, she never thought she would miss him. But she did, this life with Tide was worth it though "tell me about growing up in the ocean?"
Arwyn nodded in agreement. "I have one in a jar back home. I use it as a nightlight." She explained. "Sometimes I pretend it is like my very own star."Jay nodded in understanding. "We wont tell them till their older then." he promised.
Tide nodded then, sitting back on the small couch. "Well. The ocean is bigger, with more places to explore. You don't just have to go north or south, east or west, you can also explore up and down because you can swim. And there are so many colours! But it is cold... and lonely sometimes." He admitted.
Samuel smiled and nodded "it's like a little fairy. Do fairies exist? Do vampires exist? Wow there's like a whole world I don't know about!"Drina nodded and sighed tiredly "can Martha feed Justice? I just don't think I can right now..."
Sam smiled and nodded thinking about the beautiful waves she's seen "what kind of creatures?"
Arwyn laughed softly and nodded. "They all do, as far as I know of." She said honestly. "Though I'm not sure how much I want to see some of them. I'm fine with never meeting a vampire..."Jay nodded. "I'm sure she can." He promised, running his fingers through her hair. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Rest darling. God knows you need it."
Tide thought for a moment. "Stingrays, wales, brightly coloured fish. Eels, sea turtles. All sorts of things. Even large creatures with long necks the size of houses!" he smiled then. "They are pretty cool."
Sam nodded "just so incredible...wish I wasn't just a boring 'ol human!"Drina's eyes were already closing as she dozed off, in a peaceful slumber.
Sam's got wider and wider "are they friendly? Could you keep some as pets?"
Arwyn shook her head insistently. "You are not boring!" She protested. "I've had more fun with you than I've ever had." She said seriously.Jay held her gently as she drifted off, his hand running through her hair.
Tide nodded, smiling softly. "Yes, they're really gentle creatures and they can be tamed. But we never had any sea pets, as we were on land too much to care for them."
Charlotte had stumbled around two nearby towns, trying to find a place to stay, before she finally snuck into a barn and collapsed there for the night, hoping no one would find her.
Sam smiled and felt pretty good that he made her that happy "really? You need a life darling! We should go do some things around town."Sam smiled and nipped his neck "is thAt the Loch Ness monster one of them?"
A horse maid came in and frowned "miss? Are you alright?..."
Arywn smiled shyly. "I'd love to go into town." She said honestly. "I've never been before." She shrugged, and smiled again, a little embarrassed that she had never been anywhere before. Tide closed his eyes slowly. "Yes. She's one of them." He agreed. "I haven't been that far north though."
Charlotte looked up slowly and nodded, forcing a smile. "I'm sorry. I couldn't find anywhere else to stay. I hope I'm not troubling you too much by being here."
Samuel shook his head "your parents really are protective of you, we can go to the sweet shop and sit by the docks watching the ships come in.Sam caressed his cheek and nuzzled him "you tired darling?"
Mira shook her head "no please it's fine. Would you care to stay at my place? It's a whole lot comfier. You look starved."
Arwyn giggled, clasping her hands together. "That sounds wonderful!" She exclaimed. "When can we go?" She asked, excited to see the world. Tide shook his head, smiling slowly. "No. Just enjoying being here, with you." He said honestly.
Charlotte looked up then, hopeful. "Oh could I?" She asked, trying not to sound too desperate. "Oh please that would be so wonderful. If it's alright with you. To be honest, I don't have a home anymore. At least not one I wish to go back to, if you know what I mean." She said softly.
Sam smiled "this coming weekend! When I'm not at school, you'll have to ask your parents since you have to take a carriage to get there!"Sam smiled stroking back his hair "I love you so much...Tide, oh tide I just got that like the ocean!"
Mira nodded "of course, I had to get away from an abusive husband. Would you like a job? You could stay with me till you find your footing again."

Arwyn nodded eagerly. "I'll ask them as soon as I get the chance." She promised. "Thank you for suggesting this." She was thrilled. Tide laughed aloud then. "Yes. Tide like the ocean." He kissed her cheek. "I love you too darling. Though I take back that I'm not tired. Its getting late. Should we head to our room?"
Charlotte nodded, smiling then. "I would love a job. Thank you so much. You've been too kind." She said, following her.
Samuel nodded and quickly helped her up "bedtime Arwyn, your nanny should be coming soon."Sam smiled and led him up, she lay on top of him "hope you aren't too tired..."
Mira smiled "I'm Mira...a woodland fairy, creatures aren't welcome here I'll keep your secret if you keep mine."
Arwyn protested, but she knew he was right. "Oh why do you get to be older. It's not fair." she got up and walked begrudgingly back inside. Tide smiled brightly, leaving a kiss on her cheek. "Oh don't worry. I'm not that tired. I just needed a plausible excuse to come to bed." He smiled.
Charlotte shook her hand, smiling brightly. "I'm Charlotte, and I'm a merperson. Your secret is safe with me." She promised.
Sam crawled on his dad's lap and nuzxled in "are we staying here tonight or going home?..."Sam laughed and kissed him deeply "could have just asked..."
Mira smiled "thank you, as is yours...it's turning into a man hunt...humans are getting jealous and fearful..."
Jude looked down at him and smiled. "Would you rather stay here? Or go home? I think mom wants to stay, but I can take you home if you'd rather."Tide smiled then, tangling his fingers in her hair. "Ok. I'm asking now..."
Charlotte sighed softly. "I know what you mean. I've seen it more and more now."
Sam smiled "I'll stay here, with Arwyn! Will her mom be ok?"Sam smiled and enjoyed the evening, it was awkward and new but still wonderful. She snuggled up in the sheets "you ok?"
Mira sighed "my ex husband tried to turn me in...he didn't know what I was but he knew I wasn't human..."
Jude smiled then. "Alright we can stay." He nodded. "I think she'll get better now. She's resting currently."Tide smiled happily at her, beaming. He kissed her forehead. "I am. A little surprised and tired and elated, but alright." He smiled "you?"
Charlotte shook her head. "I'm sorry." She said softly, and she meant it. "My husband left me recently. I don't even know what I did wrong." She sighed. "He said it was for my own good, but that was just an excuse." She sighed.
Sam nodded and sighed "Arwyn told me what happened...can't you keep that from happening? Protect them, they aren't evil!"Sam nodded "sore..." She admitted and kissed him "but happier then I've ever been...you complete me Tide.."
Mira frowned "that doesn't sound like an excuse, not to get in your business or anything...but he sounds like he cares..."
Jude nodded, sighing softly. "We'll do our best to protect them, I promise. I don't believe they deserve anything like that. I don't believe anyone deserves that." He said seriously. Tide frowned in worry. "Not too hurt, I hope." He said, tucking her hair behind her ear. "But I am glad you are happy, for I am as well. We are married now, and I could wish for nothing more."
Charlotte sighed softly. "If only that were true." She shook her head and looked up. "It's alright you know. I don't mind talking with you, because we have been through a lot you and I, and I think we can relate." She looked up. "Is this your house?"
Sam nodded "you are like a knight in my stories dad, I'm Arwyn's knight...going to show her the town and school! She wants to be a normal kid."Sam shook her head "I'm ok...it's a good sore..." She assured and nuzxled his neck "I want to do it underwater...with you."
Mira nodded and led her in the small cozy cottage "tell me the entire story, a new perspective might help you get a better understanding. I'll let you know my story if you wish."
Jude smiled then, ruffling his hair. "That sounds like a great plan bud. I'm glad you think so highly of me." Then he nodded down the hallway. "But I do believe it's getting late. You should probably head to bed."Tide smiled softly then. "I'm sure I can arrange that." He kissed her gently. "but for now, it's getting late. We should rest before morning." He tucked the blankets around them.
Charlotte didn't really want advice, but she did want someone to listen, so she nodded and sat at the table, telling the whole story. She told of how she needed someone to be there for her, and how he had taken away that one thing.
Samuel nodded and hugged onto him "can you tuck me in dad?...finish our bedtime story?"Sam nodded and snuggled close "goodnight...I love you baby..."
Mira frowned and listened "why did he get so angry with your son? Forbidding him to be with the one he loves?"
Jude nodded, taking his hand and walking down the hall with him. He brought him to his bedroom and finished the book about knights and castles, before tucking him in. "Goodnight." he whispered, blowing out the oil lamp.Tide smiled, his eyes closed. "Goodnight. Love you too Sam." He turned off the light and slowly fell asleep.
Charlotte sighed. "She is the daughter of the man who had put me in a tank. Stefan wasn't sure if she would do the same to our son."
Sam snuggled into the bed, it was with Arwyn he watched her sleep making sure she was ok before going to sleep.Mary was with baby Justice she smiled at Jude "this is the new little guy.."
Mira frowned "so what happened after? Did he go to see your son?.."
When Arwyn woke in the morning, she raised her eyes in surprise. Sam was right here! Arwyn sat up. "Sam! You stayed!"Jude smiled softly. "He's a cute little tyke, isn't he?" He tickled the little baby's hand.
Charlotte shook her head slowly. "No. He left. He left after he found out that our son ran off with the girl."
Sam groaned and yawned "yeah...told you I was your knight..."Mary nodded and nuzxled the blanket covered stomach "I think I want another..."
Mira shook her head "I'm so sorry, and then you want to find him?"
Arwyn grinned and hugged him tight, bouncing off the bed. "Come on sleepy head! Lets go get breakfast and play!" She giggled and went to get dressed. Jude smiled brightly. "Well you know I'm all for that." He kissed her cheek gently.
Charlotte nodded. "Found both. They seem to be happy enough without me."
Jay nodded. "Yes. Yes its alive and healthy Drina." He said gently. "We have a very healthy new addition to our family."
Tide dumped the meat in the pot and buried the bones and organs so they wouldn't attract animals before smiling shyly at her. "If that's what you would like?" He asked. He wasn't very aware of most human customs, as well... he wasn't raised by humans.
Charlotte's eyes were starting to blur from the heat, but she knew it was Stefan. She smiled weakly. "At last." She whispered. "I need your help Stefan, to find Tide." Her voice was hoarse, as her mouth and throat were bone dry. "Even if you do not wish to have me any longer." The world was growing too fuzzy to see anymore, and she could feel the heat burning her skin. "please."
