Arwyn was struggling to get the light to lift off her palm, and not just have her hand glow, but she was struggling with it. The light just didn't seem to want to leave her hand. "This is hard!" She complained. Tide nodded in agreement, directing the carriage driver where to go next. When he reached the house, he turned to his father. "We need to find out where she is first, ok? No saving while it's daylight. So please be nice. I love this girl. Tonight we can come back and save Mom." he promised, walking up to the door. He rapped on it and prayed that it was Sam who answered, not her father.
Drina gently took her hand "close your eyes darling...just breathe and focus on your breathing. If you try to hard it stops the energy flow..."Sam answered since her father was out at a business meeting "Tide?..." She bowed slightly seeing his father "sir....what an unexpected visit, please come in."
Arwyn nodded in understanding and closed her eyes slowly, breathing in and out. When she opened again and focused, the light lifted off her palm and floated above it in a small sphere.Tide nodded, smiling at her as best as he could without making it inappropriate around his father. "We had wanted to see a mermaid, but the zoo said they sold it to you, do you think we could see her?" He asked politely.
Drina smiled proudly and captured it in a small glass jar just like her blue light "that was beautiful Arwyn! I think you are really getting the hang of that spell."Sam looked at him shocked, he wanted to gawk at the poor creature?! "She's locked in the office...Tide, my father forbids me from entering..."
Stefan nodded and held up the coin satchel "I want t o buy her from your father."
Arwyn beamed proudly and hugged her. "Thanks for teaching me Mom." She smiled up at her. "I like learning magic. It's fun." She paused. "Hard. But fun." She added.Tide nodded in agreement. "Do you know where your father is, Sam, or how we could reach him so we could take her off your hands?" He asked hopefully. He wanted to see his mom, and soon. It had been a long week without his parents.
Drina smiled "its who you are...and it will get easier." She promised and pecked her head "run off and ask Marie to make us some lunch would you?"Sam pointed as the carriage arrived "there." She wanted to tell Tide to let her go, let her be free in the ocean. But not in front of the two men.
Stefan shook his head "afternoon, I heard about your creature and I'd like to buy her please." He winced internally at how he was speaking.
Arwyn nodded in understanding. "Ok mom." She said and ran to ask Marie to start up lunch for them as she had been told. SAMs father was a little bemused by the strangers, and even moreso by their request. "I just got that she devil." He said, scratching at his beard. "I'm not sure I want to part with her yet." He said, folding his arms.
Drina smiled and went to the library to find Jay and Julian "having fun?" She asked with a small laugh sitting at the window seat.Stefan nodded "ill pay you triple for what you paid for her...and throw you in a rare fairy."
Jay looked up from the book he was ready and smiled brightly. "Lots of fun." He reached the end of the three little piggies and put the book down, telling Julian to go play. "How was lessons?"He nodded then, huffing. He couldn't turn down an offer like that. "She's all yours." He unlocked his study to reveal a very sorrowful looking Charlotte still in chains.
Drina smiled and pecked his lips "Arwyn raised the light today...we have another night light for the house. She's doing amazing...and, I found something out..." She said her face excited with the news.Stefan handed him the coin bag which contained the tiny glow fairy as well in a golden cage. He went to Charlotte, and felt sick...his beautiful wife. He helped load her into the carriage knowing he was going to let her out at home.
Jay smiled, wrapping an arm around her. "That's brilliant." He said. "Seems like she's learning fast." Then he raised an eyebrow. "What did you find out my dear?" He asked, curious.Charlotte looked a little shocked when Tide and Stefan entered the room, and it took a lot of self control to not look over joyous when strange people were still in the room. She sat quietly where she was loaded onto the carriage, hopeful because she knew she was going home.
Drina smiled ecstatic and put his hand on her stomach "I'm with child again..." She said softly her eyes tearing uo.Stefan led her out and carefully dried her off holding her close "oh Char..."
Jay beamed, thrilled. He scooped her up and spun her around, hugging her close. "That's amazing Drina!" He exclaimed. "How long have you known?" He asked, smiling. Charlotte curled up in his arms as soon as he pulled her out, and she just sat there as he dried and hugged her. "I don't ever want to be in another tank." She whispered, hiding her face against his neck.
Drina smiled "just now...the baby kicked when I was casting the spell..."Stefan kissed her deeply "I thought you had left me..."
Jay smiled brightly. "That's wonderful." He kissed her quickly. "We'll have to get Julian moved out of the nursery and into his own room." He mused. Charlotte shook, shivering and hugged him closer, kissing him back. "I would never leave you permanently Stefan." she whispered. "Yes, I wanted to give you space, but it wasn't ever going to be more than a couple nights."
Drina smiled and nodded "I agree...if it's female we'll have to change the color and theme...Julien is getting so big!"Stefan pecked her cheek and smiled "I can see Char...my father accepts our marriage finally."
Jay smiled, agreeing with her. "He is. The time passes so quickly." he commented. "At least we have had no trouble with homeschooling Arwyn."Charlotte's eyes raised in surprise and she hastily wiped her tears away. "You mean you can see this mess I'm in right now?" She said in mock horror, smiling a little.
Drina nodded "I think I want her to go to private school though when she gets older. She needs that culture...and experience."Stefan laughed and nuzzled her "you are the most beautiful sight on earth...I love you my angel."
Jay nodded in understanding. "Well with my new income I can afford to send her anywhere you would like her to go." He smiled. It was true. The railway company was doing quite well.Charlotte wrapped her arms around his neck and laughed with him, sighing happily. "I love you too." She whispered. "Though I suppose you're not really an angel." She smiled.
Drina pecked his cheek "I'm so proud of you my love..." Just then the servant rushed out "sir this was pinned to our door with an arrow!" It was a message scrawled out in what appeared to be blood 'get out witch'Stefan shook his head "not so..." He frowned watching Tide "I gorbid you to associate with that girl or her family again!"
Jay took the note in his hands and growled softly, tearing it to pieces. He had an idea of who sent it and it made him furious. "I'll be right back dear." He said softly, getting up and storming from the house. He strode towards the forest. "Where are you!? If you have a quarrel with me or my family come tell me yourself!"Charlotte swallowed, wincing, as Tide paled a couple shades. He looked positively horrified. "No!" He cried. "You can't do that!" He had never spoken to his father this way before. "I'm sure she had no part in it."
Raul growled angrily "you are holding the demon's spawn in this neighborhood! It just keeps breeding, I can't let it hurt my family or this town. Get her out of town or I will tie it to the stake myself"Stefan growled "and if she did?! What if she is disgusted that you are s fish? That she hurts you so deeply! Or worse put you in a tank as a knick nack?"
Jay's demeanor darkened considerably. "Just because she is more privileged than you does not mean she is of the devil!" He shook his head. "She has not hurt anyone, nor will she. So get lost Raul. Hateful folk like you are not welcome here."Tide shook his head, growing angry. "She would never do such a thing! She is not that shallow. It is I that know her, not you father. You have no place judging her character like that." He snapped.
"Tide..." Charlotte warned softly.
Drina felt sick, she touched the paper pieces and all of her old beliefs came back. She was just an animal that wasn't human, she could hurt this entire country! "Arwyn honey, I need to go on a walk...tell your daddy ok?" She left grabbing her cloak and walking around the pond.Stefan felt the anger burst from within he stood angrily and growled at his son "to your room! You are not going back to school or ever seeing her again, I'm the father!"
Jay watched the man stalk off before he turned and went in the house again. "Drina? Its ok, it will be ok." When he didn't get a response, he frowned. "Drina?" Arwyn trotted up. "She went for a walk daddy." She piped up. Jay sighed in relief and nodded. "Thank you darling."Tide stepped back a bit, stunned and he swallowed, running to his room. He slammed the door and locked it, tears escaping his eyes. He wouldn't even get to tell Sam why he could't take her to the dance any more. She would just think he hated her...
Charlotte turned to Stefan carefully. "Love, was that all very necessary?" She asked softly, just as surprised as Tide at Stefan's outburst.
Drina was walking alone, she night was drawing near. She created a globe of light in her hands to get her home. A hand went over her mouth and she quickly got yanked away leaving her cloak by the water.Stefan sighed putting his head in his hands "I am turning into him..." He whispered scared of the anger and burning in him. He just wanted to protect his family and he was scared that his wife had been taken.
Jay had been reading to Julien and Awryn by the window, keeping one eye on the bobbing light outside. When it suddenly shut off, he tensed and closed the book. "I'm sorry kids, I'm going to have to finish this tomorrow." He apologized, striding to the door. "Martha! Make sure the kids get tucked into bed!" He instructed their nanny and ran outside. "Drina!" He called, "Are you ok?"Charlotte lay a hand gently on his shoulder, her brow wrinkled with worry. "Who Stefan?" she asked gently. She hadn't seen him like this before, and frankly she was worried. The heat simmering from him was not normal, and as much as it made her uncomfortably warm, she stayed by him.
Drina was tied to a stake, over the cliff. She moaned weakly and watched the flame come towards her "I'm pregnant..." She whispered before going unconcious.Stefan sighed and looked up "just...my father, he wants to meet Tide and I wanted to make this good with him...but I'm turning into him! I hate...I hate that I scared him and you..."
Jay started to panic when he heard no response. It wasn't like her to just ignore him. His eyes frantically searched the surrounding landscape for her. A flicker of orange in the distance sent his heart into his throat. "Drina..." he moaned, sprinting towards the distant light. Charlotte chewed her lip, shaking her head. "Stefan, its ok. I promise its ok. I love you, you just startled me, is all." She promised. "I'm sure this is just part of who you are Stefan. You're more than half imp." She reminded.
Drina was alone, the fire was creeping up the pole and over her skin. He head was rolled back her mouth slightly open in a silent scream.Stefan sighed "I don't want to hurt him...and she might really hate him. I've never met this girl and he thinks he's in love!"
Jay finally got close enough to see her, and he was already panting with exhaustion from running so far. "Drina!" He screamed as if calling to her could stop the flames he saw rising around her. He practically collapsed on her when he finally got there, not caring that he was starting to burn too as he fumbled with the knots that held her and pulled her off the pole. Charlotte sighed softly, giving him a small nod. "He is in love, I know that for certain, but I do not know this strange girl's feelings towards him." She said honestly.
Drina moaned falling onto his chest, her long black hair flowed behind her as she gripped onto his shirt "I'm...preg..." She whispered still delusional.Stefan sighed and hugged her "he's my boy...what am I supposed to do?"
Jay nodded, stroking her hair with a shaking hand. "I know Drina... I know. I know and it's ok." He promised, kissing her head gently as he lifted her into his shaking arms and started the long walk back towards his home. Charlotte thought for a moment. "I suggest you talk to him Stefan." She said gently. "Maybe you can find out about this girl and Tide's feelings." she offered.
Mary was with Jude until the phone rang. She quickly answered it "hello? Jay is that you?" She asked confused at the frantic voice on the other side.Stefan sighed "not tonight...he won't listen to me...probably hates me."
Jay nodded, looking over at Drina who was now in bed. "I just pulled my wife off a stake. Please she needs a doctor and help, and I need support or I'm going to freak out over here." Charlotte knew better than to argue and she nodded slowly, sighing. "He could never hate you Stefan, but it is your decision." She stood. "I'll be in our room. I am quite exhausted."
Jay nodded "Jude's getting the doctor...I'll be over soon...Sam can play with Arwyn and I can take care of you...are you hurt?" Stefan sighed and nodded, now his wife was mad at him. He quickly got in the pool letting his tail grow and cooling down.
Jay nodded weakly, glad they would be coming over. "I'm a little burnt, but not as badly as Drina." He mumbled, exhaustion filling his limbs with lead. "I have to go." He hung up just as he passed out beside his wife.Charlotte stopped to check on Tide, but he was quiet now, and no longer crying. She sighed softly and went to their room, laying down in bed. The stress of the day really was exhausting.
Mary and Jude arrived with the doctor, she directed the usual doctor to the bedroom. She quickly picked up Arwyn "you alright darling?"Stefan went upstairs and knocked on Tide's door "Tide?...you still awake?"
Arwyn shook her head, clinging to Mary. "No! I saw mom and dad..." She whimpered, crying into her shoulder.Tide heard his father but ignored him, feigning sleep. He didn't want to talk to anyone, not after how the last conversation had gone.
Mary held her close "they'll be ok...do you want to play with Sam?"Drina whimpered in pain when the doctor examined her burns "I'm preg.."
Stefan sighed softly "I love you son...I'm sorry for yelling...goodnight."
Arwyn nodded slowly, sniffling as she wiped her eyes. "I would." She agreed. Jay was waking up slowly and he looked over at Drina. "I know darling." He whispered, reaching over one burnt hand to hold hers. "It's going to be ok."
Tide sighed softly, squeezing his eyes shut tight. "Goodnight." He whispered, curling up on the bed. He knew what he had to do. He would run away tonight.
Mary led her to the six year old boy, Sam smiled at Arwyn "want to help me build?" He was playing with the painted wooden blocks.Drina slowly came to and blinked confused "Jay?..."
Stefan sighed and crawled into bed falling into a fitful sleep.
Arwyn smiled shyly and nodded, walking over very slowly. She had never met any kids her age before. "Sure."Jay nodded, smiling gently. "Right here darling, and I'm not going anywhere."
When Tide was sure everyone was asleep, he packed some clothes and a bit of food and snuck out his bedroom window, jogging off into the darkness.
Sam handed her a block "it's my favorite color...red, do you like red?" He asked watching her curiously. He had many friends but was always excited to make new ones.Drina kissed his lips weakly "I didn't want to hurt him...but I shoukd have fought..." She whispered thinking about Raul and the hatred in his eyes.
Sam sat in her room, the little twinkling fairy in her palm, they both looked miserable. She had tried to let it go but it's wings were cut and she couldn't fly. Sam didn't know much about this world but no creature should he locked away...

((I did not get your previous message until you resent it... weird.))Arwyn smiled brightly then, as his enthusiasm was contagious. "I do like red. But blue is my favorite." She said honestly, picking up another block, which she stacked on top of the red.
Jay smiled gently. "You are one brave woman." he said gently, kissing her forehead. "maybe you should do that mind trick of yours on that man. So he doesn't spread rumors."
Tide had crept to Sams house and he walked around it until he found Sam's room. Then he climbed up to the window and rapped on it insistently, hoping that she would let him in.
((That's been happening a lot, so that's why I just resent it :) ))Sam smiled and put a green block on top "it's getting really tall! So why don't you go to school with me?"
Drina sighed and nodded, she closed her eyes and searched for that cruel mind erasing every memory of her or witches in general. She was exhausted after and fell back asleep.
Sam gasped and opened the window "oh Tide!"
((glad u did :) ))Arwyn added a yellow block and swallowed slowly. "I um... I'm homeschooled." She explained. "So my mom and dad give me lessons." She said honestly.
Jay smiled softly, kissing her cheek before laying back. "How is she doctor?" he asked.
Tide pulled himself inside and hugged her tightly, still tense from the stress of everything. "Oh Sam, I had to come see you. I'm afraid I have terrible news..."
Sam grinned happily "that's so cool! I wish my parents could teach me at home! What are you learning right now?"The doctor sighed "she's very weak, the baby seems to be doing very well. The burns will heal as will yours...you are both very lucky."
Sam hugged him close and pulled back looking at him scared "what is it?..."
Stefan sighed "let's get to that house, I need to see Charlotte!"
