Drina smiled and nuzzled him lovingly "love you too..." She felt his heart beat under her hand and smiled "I wanf us to be married Jay...if you believe that it's not too soon..."Stefan poked his belly "your insides will hurt from eating too fast!"
Jay;s smile grew wider and he nodded eagerly. "Marriage would be lovely." he agreed, his eyes lighting up. "But..." He added. "I do think we should get settled into our home first, we both need to find work... and there will be a lot to catch up with when I return home."Tide grimaced, pushing away the food. "I don't want that!"
Charlotte cleaned up after him, smiling. "No you don't." She agreed, starting to wash the dishes.
Drina nodded in agreement, she kissed his neck "we have a lot to focus on...I can't wait though." No time for children or settling down. Too bad that at that moment a little egg was growing inside.Stefan smiled and pecked his cheek "want to play with some toys?"
Jay nodded. "Neither can I." he agreed, tucking her close as he closed his eyes. The rocking of the ship was making him sleepy. "I promise it will happen as soon as possible." He assured. Tide nodded, jumping up from the table. "Yes, yes! Where are they?" he asked, excited.
Drina sighed feeling drowsy "Mmm so when we awake we'll be in America?..." she whispered listening to the gentle night sounds.Stefan led him to the play room with different wooden toys and cloth balls.
Jay smiled softly. "Yes." He assured, kissing her neck as he sighed tiredly. "Unless we are delayed. Then it may take a few hours longer."Tide laughed in excitement and immediately go to work at making a huge mess everywhere, playing with anything and everything he could.
Drina yawned nuzzling into the pillow "how will we reach your home from the dock...is it far?" She whispered her eyes closing.Stefan watched and smiled lightly at Charlotte "I think he likes being on the land..."
"We'll rent a carriage." He promised, his words slurring. "Get some rest... I know I am tired, so you must be too." He whispered, yawning before settling in to sleep. Charlotte nodded, a sort of forlorn look in her eyes. But she smiled, nodding. "Yes. Yes he does. Doesn't he?"
Drina was already fast asleep, her mind and body relaxing after a long day of stress. The ship sailed calmly to the docks a perfect starless night.Stefan noticed the look almost immediately "what is wrong my love?..."
Jay woke to knocking on the door and a cry of "We've arrived." Smiling a little, he stretched and slipped off the bunk. "Wake up Drina, it's time to go."Charlotte forced and smile and shook her head. "Nothing. It's fine. Don't worry about it." She headed back towards the kitchen. "I'm going to go finish the dishes."
Drina moaned and turned to the side, she pulled the blankets up close the brisk air chilled her. It was Autumn here and she was only used to warm climates.Stefan followed her obviously not fooled "darling...you can tell me anything you know that."
Jay smiled softly, brushing her hair back from her face. "If you stay here, you're going to end up back on the island we just came from..." He said, gently. "I don't know about you, but I want to go home."Charlotte wiped a couple dishes and then stashed them away, sighing. "I... I think we should stay on land Stefan." She said softly. "Tide likes it better here, and frankly, you two are more land creatures than water." Told him, not looking up yet.
Drina smiled up at him and pecked his lips "alright...it's just so cold! Did the maids pack a shawl or anything?" She sat up running a brush through her hair and retying the ribbon.Stefan was shocked and took her hand "Char...I don't want to take you from your homeland...I changed for you..."
Jay handed her her bag, not about to go through her things. "I'm sure they did." He agreed. "And if not, I can give you my coat, I do not find it as chilly as you must." He said, smiling a little. Charlotte chewed on her lip. "And I will forever be thankful to you for that" She said seriously. "But you gained a tail. You did not lose your legs. You still belong to the land, and now I see Tide does too." She said, finally looking up at him. "We have to do what is best for our family."
Drina pulled out her shawl and snuggled into it "welcome home captain." She remembered that she needed to erase him from his enemies "hold still..." she dove into his mind and found who he was talking about and erased every thought of him from their minds "there..."Stefan turned her and held her shoulders "but would that make you happy, I can't stand to see you miserable my love..."
Jay gasped when he felt something push into his mind, move around, and then leave. "Was that you?" he asked, curious. "What happened?" He wanted to know what she had done inside him. He was so excited to show her his home. Charlotte looked up to him, trying to hide any sign of sadness from her features. "I want what is best for us Stefan. I'm sure I'll grow used to our new life in time." She promised.
Drina smiled and nodded "your boss and his men will never know that you existed...you are not a fugitive, you are free and we can go home." She packed everything and started to lug it out of the cabin.Stefan sighed and kissed her neck "I love you...please. just be honest with me...I know that it would kill you to stay out of the ocean..."
Jay smiled in admiration, not really having it set in until now how much she was doing for him. He pecked her cheek and heaved her luggage onto the shoulder that was not holding his own. "Thanks luv." He said, smiling and moving past her, carrying the bags out and onto the carriage. Charlotte bit her lip and looked out the window at the rolling waves. A storm was coming in. That meant they wouldn't get to go exploring today after all. "Stefan I... I can't deny that I couldn't stay out of the water completely. But... I could swim in the pool. And go for hour swims in the ocean, if needed." she offered. She looked up at him, running her thumb over his cheek bone. "But you and Tide belong here. You know that. I am just one being, and am not worth more than both of you."
Drina admired how strong he was, the air smelt fresh and there was so many trees. She pointed to to the mountains in awe "what are those?" There were buildings everywhere as he said and so many people and carriages it was overwhelming.Stefan leaned into him and pecked her cheek "you are worth more to me than my own life Angel..."
"Those are mountains." He said, strapping down their luggage and helping her into the carriage. He waved to the sailors of the ship as they drove off. "Welcome to america." He said dramatically, doing a little bow from his seat in the carriage.Charlotte blushed a little, closing her eyes and smiled. "And you are my life Stefan." She kissed his cheek. "Which is why I must insist you and Tide have the best possible."
Drina smiled and leaned in kissing his lips lovingly "it's wonderful...I love you, let's go home..." she sat in the chair and touched the fine wood "everything is so expensive and fine here..."Stefan sighed and leaned in and kissed her deeply "but what about you?..."
Jay nodded, "Yes. And yes. Like I said, people have money to spend." He shrugged. "You'll like it I'm sure." he reassured, smiling. Charlotte leaned against him, sighing softly. "I'll be fine. I might go see my Mother. She's a seawitch. She might be able to pull up a spell to keep me from getting my tail when I don't want it."
Drina felt a little queasy and nodded "yes...I love it already." She promised and held her stomach "I think I'm seasick..."Stefan blinked and shook his head "how do you know your mother?..."
jay frowned a little in worry. "Do you want me to stop the carriage for a bit?" He offered, not wanting her in any pain.Charlotte smiled a little. "I guess I didnt mention that she's the queen of the merfolk... everyone knows her."
Drina shook her head "no..no, it's just a queasy stomach. I am fine." She squeezed his hand "do not worry about me love, though I find it very sweet."Stefan's eyes widened more if that was possible "you're the princess...I can't let you live up here Char."
Jay nodded, still worried about her. He didn't like her being uncomfortable. "Are you sure you're ok?" He asked gently, searching her eyes. Charlotte sighed softly. "Stefan... I've made my choice. I will stay on land with my family." She said seriously.
Drina shook her head "pull over..." she begged and vomited in the rain gutter and coughed feeling foolish and dizzy "Jay?..."Stefan sighed "I want to meet your mother..."
Jay hopped out with her, holding her hair back gently as she was sick. He frowned in worry. "What do you think it is?" he asked, worried about her. Charlotte nodded hesitantly. "I should probably meet her first... and then I'd be happy to introduce you."
Drina shook her head and leaned into him "maybe I need to see a physician...I was sick and then the storm..." she whispered scared that she was sick.Stefan smiled and ran her hand down her cheek "I love you..."
Jay nodded. "Do you think you could make it back home, before I get a doctor to come see you?" he asked gently. Charlotte smiled softly, hugging him. "I love you too." She whispered.
Drina nodded and went back into the carriage and let him hold her. She felt better after releasing the contents in her stomach. "I'm sorry..."Stefan smiled looking at their son "he's so curious...I love watching him learn."
Jay shook his head, holding her close. "No. It's ok. I'm just sorry that you dont feel well." He said seriously. Charlotte nodded, smiling softly. "I know. He's so cute." She kissed his cheek. "Just like you."
Drina looked up when they stopped, she gasped seeing a beautiful huge white mansion with the forest and ricer. Everything he described "oh my gosh..."Stefan flushed "Char...don't make me a blubbering mess."
Jay smiled brightly, peering out the window at his beloved home. "Welcome home darling." he said, hopping out of the carriage to help her out. Charlotte smiled brightly. "I like you that way every once in a while." She teased.
Drina smiled and held him as he lead her up the walkway, she kissed his cheek and nuzzled him softly going through the door "I want to lie down..."Stefan smiled at sat by Tide "what are you doing kiddo?"
Jay nodded, deciding that a tour would have to wait. He scooped her into his arms and carried her gently to his bedroom, laying her down. "I'll get you a doctor." He promised. Tide smiled, looking up. "Making a house. Like ours." he said, stacking his blocks.
Drina nodded and closed her eyes feeling fatigue and her stomach so queasy. "I love you..."Stefan smiled "it's a very nice house! I like it..."
Jay kissed her forehead, nodding. "I'll call a doctor." He promised, going to the phone. He rang the number and waited for someone to pick up. Tide smiled proudly, going back to work. "thanks Daddy. It's where I'm going to live when I have a wife too." He said seriously.
Drina rested in her nightgown at this point, she just felt so tired she had never been one to just lay about all the day.A nurse answered and handed the phone to the physician "it's for you sir, a house call."
Stefan smiled and pecked his head "good boy. I'm sure you'll make a wonderful husband."
Jay smiled gently at Drina as he waited on the line, trying to keep his evident worry of his features. She looked so tired... and sick... what could be wrong? He hoped it was nothing serious.Tide grinned, nodding, and went back to playing blocks. Charlotte smiled sadly from the kitchen and sighed. Tide definitely belong to both worlds, but he seemed to like the land better. "I'm going to head out to see my mother." She told Stefan softly. "I'll be back soon."
The doctor assured Jay that he would come soon with a nurse.Drina kissed his hand and nuzzled it.
Stefan frowned "you are just going to leave?"
Jay thanked the doctor and hung up, holding Drina gently. "A doctor is coming soon dear." He promised. Charlotte bit her lip. "It would be good to get this over with."
The nurse helped the doctor pack "what do you think it could be?"Drina leaned into him and nodded "thank you...I'm sorry for making you worry."
Stefan frowned concerned "what if something happens and you don't come back and I won't know?..."
Jay smiled gently and sighed. "No its ok. I will always worry about you. But I dont want you feeling sick, or in pain. I want to help you get better."Charlotte sighed softly. "I will be back by morning. If I am not. Then you know something happened, ok?" She asked gently, just as worried as he was.
The doctor arrived and ushered Jay out of the room. It was inappropriate for a man in those times to witness an examination.Stefan sighed and took both of her hands and kissed them "please be safe..."
Jay gave Drina's hand one last squeeze before walking out into the hallway and pacing back and forth behind the door. He couldn't keep his mind from wandering to what on earth could be wrong. Thoughts of the horrible diseases one could get plagued his mind and he swallowed the lump in his throat. Charlotte nodded, running her hand up through his hair as she hugged him briefly. "I will." She promised, smiling at him. "I will see you in the morning." She said, smiling once more before taking her leave out the door.
The examination lasted for a half of an hour until the nurse opened the door "do not worry, she is perfectly healthy for a woman with child." She smiled assuredly at him.Drina's face was that of shock as she leaned against the pillows and smiled at him tears of joy in her eyes.
Stefan went back to play with Tide, showing him the wooden trains and rocking horse.
Jay sighed and smiled in relief, not exactly sure why Drina was crying, but he was so relieved to hear that she was ok. Then a sort of thought pushed at the back of his mind, reminding him that the nurse had added on two words after "healthy woman" that changed everything completely. His eyes widened and he stared. "Wait.... with child?" He repeated. ((want to play her mother for this part? I can do it if you don't want to))
Charlotte sighed softly to herself and walked out to the water's edge, gently stashing away her dress for when she surfaced again, before she dove into the rolling waves and swam down down into the depths of the sea. Presently, a light appeared in the distance, a light in the window of the sea palace where her mother lived. "Please like me..." She whispered, and knocked on the stone beside the entry way, which was a beaded curtain of pearls.
The nurse was tucking her in and nodded "she is pregnant, all of her symptoms are normal for this stage."Drina took his hand smiling weakly at him, she was happy but also worried could she handle it?
The curtain moved away majestically and a shining path of mother of pearl gleamed leading to the throne room. Her mother was sitting upon a throne of pearl and coral so delicate and exquisite. "Come in my dear...I've been expecting you."
Tide tipped his head to the side. "What's a stomach ache?" he asked, confused.
