Jay smiled gently, kissing her cheek. "I'll go slow." He promised, and then kissed her again, a little more hungrily as he pulled her closer. Charlotte nodded, hugging him. "Yes. I want to see your world still. Shall we take a field trip tomorrow?" She suggested.
Drina wrapped her leg around his waist and bit her lip looking lovingly up at him and kissing his neck feeling his heavy breath against her chest.Stefan nodded and smiled "in the morning, before the sunrises."
Jay kissed her gently, and then kissed down her neck, slowly slipping the night gown off her. "I love you." He whispered. Charlotte nodded, kissing his cheek. "Sounds good." She swam over to the clam bed and motioned him over. "We better rest. Big day tomorrow."
Drina curled up to him after and pressed her hand against his chest and snuggled in his shoulder lovingly "that was...I just, I love you..." She whispered not knowing how to express her feelings.Stefan nodded "I swear we just woke up..."
Jay smiled, stroking her hair gently. "Love you too babe." He whispered gently. "Just rest." He urged, closing his own eyes tiredly. Charlotte laughed softly. "Time flies when you're having fun." She said, cuddling into him.
Drina pulled the sheets up as she felt a chill, she snuggled close to Jay and sighed contentedly. She slowly drifted to sleep until she was out like a light.Stefan smiled down at her and kissed her forehead gently. He wrapped his arms around her and slowly let the warm current drift him to sleep.
Jay woke up early the next morning, as the maids had drawn open the curtains and cleared out the room. He got up and got dressed, knowing they needed an early start this morning on their voyage to America.Charlotte woke up to Tide blowing bubbles at her. She shook her head, laughing softly. "Ok Ok. I'm awake. You ready to go visit the land?" She asked.
Tide tipped his head to the side. "What's land?"
Drina moaned softly and turned into the pillow, she was so tired and the bed was so warm until he left. She heard the maids bustling around packing for them.Stefan smiled loving to hear him speak "it's where I'm from, it's above the water...you'll like it!"
Jay got himself cleaned up and dressed, making sure the maids had packed the necessities for the trip before he returned to Drina's side. "Wake up Darling, time to go."Tide smiled. "Let's go!" He said eagerly, swimming towards the cave entrance.
Charlotte smiled, swimming after him quickly to lead him to the shore.
Drina sighed and kissed his lips lovingly "I need a bath..." She whispered feeling sticky and gross, she did not want to board the ship without being clean and presentable.Stefan laughed and followed them up "ill go first to get you both some clothing before you come up."
Jay nodded in understanding. "I think we have time for that." He assured. "Do you think you'll be ok to take it on your own this time?" He asked. Charlotte nodded in agreement, staying on the surface with Tide to wait for Stefan. Tide was looking at everything, his eyes wide in wonder.
Drina nodded in assurance and pecked his cheek grabbing the dress the maids set out for her. She headed to the wash room and did not even wait for the water to warm up. She scrubbed herself clean and slowly came out feeling pretty dizzy and light headed.Stefan dried himself off, it did not pain him to gain legs as much as when he gained his tail. He went up to the house and grabbed the clothes coming back to the shore.
Jay had been helping load the luggage onto the carriage that would take them to the ship. He packed on everything and strapped it to the roof just as the stable boys were hitching the horses. Then he came back in to see if Drina was ready. Charlotte waited patiently for Stefan, smiling when he came back with clothes. She coaxed Tide towards him. "Here. Dry him off first so he doesn't have to wait while I dry." She suggested.
Drina had her hair loosely curled with a ribbon, she was wearing a sapphire blue dress with white laced elbow sleeves. She smiled and curtsied "are we ready to leave?"Stefan nodded and held Tide close to him and dried off his tail with a towel being very careful.
Jay smiled slowly, just admiring her. "Y-yes..." he said softly. He walked over to her and kissed her gently. "I think we are." He took her hand and lead her outside.Tide whimpered, clinging to his father as his tail split. When it was all over, he stared at his legs in awe. "What are they...?" He asked.
Charlotte smiled and just waited and watched patiently for her turn.
Drina smiled loving that look he got when he was in awe of her, like last night and now. She kissed him gently and entered the carriage "this is wonderful!" She had never been on a carriage ride. She leaned out the window watching the scenery.Stefan smiled helping him into little trousers and a tunic. "They are called legs, look mom has them and I do too!"
Jay grinned and helped her into the carriage, climbing in after her as the driver started the horses off. "I thought you might enjoy it," He said, smiling. He wasn't watching the scenery, he loved watching her light up much more. Tide giggled and pranced around on his new legs, wobbling here and there, laughing.
Charlotte smiled proudly and pulled herself onto the sand, lying back and closing her eyes as she started to dry as well.
Drina didn't answer she was too focused on the breeze in her air and the fresh smells "I hope America is as beautiful as this..." She pulled into the window and bounced on the soft seats.Stefan laughed and took his hand to help him, he threw him in the air and held him close "do you like it?"
Jay smiled, squeezing her hand gently. "Oh don't worry. It is. Just a different kind of beauty. Just like where you're from has a different kind of beauty than here." He explained, smiling gently. Tide laughed his bubbly laugh as he was thrown in the air. "Yes! Yes!" He agreed, hugging him. "Thank you for bringing me up here Daddy."
Charlotte wiped the sand off of her once she had dried, and then got up and slipped on the dress Stefan had brought down for her, she smiled down at herself, and then smiled at their family. "Love you both." she whispered to herself.
Drina leaned on his shoulder and smiled up at him "tell me more about...our home, what are the rooms like?" She asked dreamily.Stefan smiled and held him close "see those in the sky? Those are birds!" He explained and pointed to them.
Jay smiled, playing with her hair as he talked. "There are many rooms in my house. A music room, we have a piano..." He kissed her cheek. "And a harp. And a library in the back. All the books you could want."Tide watched in wonder, his eyes wide. "Birds..." He repeated, giggling. "Cool! Can I do that?" He asked, wanting to fly.
Drina smiled thinking about such wonderful rooms, "is there a room with lots of light that I may paint and sketch in?" She was trying to stay focused but the nice carriage ride and his fingers in her hair was making her feeling lazy.Stefan shook his head "unfortunately no...that's the only thing you are incapable of doing." He tossed him in the air again "but this is pretty close!"
Jay nodded, looking out the window. "Yes, there's a side room where any ladies I had to the house would sit and embroider. There are three big windows that let in all the light. You could have that room to paint." He offered as the carriage drove into the wharf. Tide laughed, spreading his arms as his father tossed him. "The land is so fun!" He cried, giggling. He could not believe all the new things he was seeing.
Drina nodded absentmindly, but she couldn't stop thinking about all the ladies he would have at his abode. They were surely doing more then embroidering. Did he really love her? Or was she to be just one of his many mistresses? Stefan smiled at Charlotte and kissed her cheek lightly, he handed Tide to her and took her hand "what shall we do first?"
The carriage rolled to a stop and Jay got out, holding out a hand to her to help her down the steps. As they walked to the ship together, the men loading their luggage on for them, he felt that she was slightly tense. "Are you ok?" He asked softly.Charlotte smiled, squeezing his hand as she held Tide on her hip. "Let's go to your house and grab lunch. Then we can explore?" She offered.
Drina looked up at him wondering if she should bring it up, but decided against it. They were happy, why would she ruin that with her insecurities. "Mmhmm just nervous..." she admitted quietly. Wasn't a lie, she was but not about the ship or even America.Stefan nodded and led them up the stone cliff steps to the beach house, he helped them in and smiled at his boy "this is your land home!"
Jay nodded, believing her to mean about the boat, and America. He rubbed her arm gently as they were lead up the gang plank and onto the ship where they were show to a tiny room that would be their quarters. In comparison with what the rooms usually looked like, Jay knew this was very very nice. "Well. Home sweet home, until we get to America at least."Tide gasped in excitement and jumped up immediately, running around the rooms, just looking at everything. "What are these?" He asked, poking the chairs, and the bed. "And what about these?" He picked up a plate and peered at it from all angles.
Drina was in awe at the beautiful simple room. She sat on the bed and touched the canopy hanging around it. It wasn't as elegant as the mansion but she preferred it like this. She didn't feel so out of place. "How long will it take?"Stefan laughed watching him, he carefully took the plate away before he dropped it. "We'll go through everything one by one alright?" He sat on the chair "this is a chair it's like our calm at home you sit on it."
Jay sat on the small double bed that would be theirs. "A fortnight or so." He said, shrugging. "Depends on the weather. We aren't in open seas though, so we won't get storms like the one on the last trip." he promised. Tide ran over to another chair and hopped up, bouncing in giddy excitement. "And what's this?" He asked, poking the table. He wanted to know anything and everything about the world around him.
Drina sighed in relief and gave a smile "that eases some fear..." she admitted. She took a deep breath "you said that you had never had been in a relationship except for the third grade...yet I know that you obviously have lain with someone else...then you spoke of women, as in plural staying at the house..."Stefan smiled "this is a table, its to hold things up. When we eat we sit at the table on the chairs and eat our food with the plate." He picked up the plate that he put on the table.
Jay had to admit he was a little surprised by her question and found himself fumbling over words at first. He sighed and realized he would need to explain himself at some point or other. "I never had time for relationships because of training. But I still did crave love." he admitted, shrugging a little. "They never stayed longer than two days at the house."Tide pulled the plate in front of him and moved a little closer to the table. "What do we eat?" He inquired, his blue eyes wandering over the empty plate.
"Today we are having pasta." Charlotte said from the kitchen. "I already have a pot on the stove."
Drina nodded her suspicions clarified, she swallowed staring at her hands "do you just crave love from me? Will I only stay a few days?" She couldn't stop the tears that were starting to fall, she had given her heart to him she didn't know what to think. Stefan smiled "you'll like it." He promised not knowing how to explain pasta to help him understand. He put out the cups "these are cups, they hold liquids like our water to drink. We are having juice today."
"Drina I..." He started, wanting desperately to pull her into his arms and comfort her, but he felt like she would just pull away. He didn't know what he felt. He thought it was love... but after so long, he didn't know what that really was anymore. "I-I'm sorry..." He whispered, not sure what else to say. "You are welcome to stay as long as you'd like."Tide stared at the juice in his cup. He could not quite grasp the concept of drinking something, as usually, he drank like he breathed. "It's like a little ocean..."
Drina swallowed all of her dreams of children and the happily ever after he promised was gone. She nodded wiping away the tears "thank you..." she whispered and cleared her throat "I think ill go up to the dock..."Stefan smiled and nodded "tastes a lot better I promise." He demonstrated tipping the glass in his mouth and swallowing "see?"
Jay nodded, not going to stop her, and sighed tiredly, sitting down on their bed. He held his head in his hands, wondering how things could have gone so incredibly wrong. Yes... love was a shallow thing back then... but he liked to think what he felt now was something different. Tide picked up the juice and very carefully poured some in his mouth. It took him a couple seconds to figure out how to swallow, and when he did, he grinned, setting the cup back down. "That tasted good." He agreed, just as Charlotte walked in with the pot and set it on the table. "Help yourselves." she said, sitting with them.
Drina went up to the dock, she crawled into a tight ball and just sobbed, why was she so foolish? Why'd she think that he loved her, the kind of love that are in books. She was just a naive witch that let her heart get played like a fiddle. Stefan put some on Tides plate and got some bread and set the table for them.
Jay heaved a heavy sigh. Love was a hard thing. You could believe you had it, only to find it wasn't real, or you could have it, and scorn it for something else. Not to mention the broken hearts in the process. He didn't even know what to think anymore. Charlotte smiled at him, dishing out pasta and juice for her and Stefan, before starting to eat her own food.
Tide had already gobbled down half of his.
Drina swallowed and went back to him after an hour had passed, she took his hand moving it from his face and looking into his eyes "did you mean it when you said those things...the happily ever after..."Stefan smiled and dug in keeping an eye on Tode so he wouldn't choke.
Jay looked up at her slowly, almost fearing what he would see in her eyes when he did, but he looked anyways. "I did. I did mean it." He said softly, without hesitation. Even though he was unsure of his feelings, he was sure about that. Tide sometimes would forget that he wasn't supposed to breathe in the juice, and so he would cough and splutter, and then smile and start eating all over again. He was thoroughly enjoying himself.
Drina swallowed and kissed him tenderly "I love you...I don't think that will ever change..." She whispered honestly and sighed "I love you so much that I almost hate you for making me like this..." She admitted and pulled back "I don't want to be just another girl though..."Stefan chuckled and wiped up the mess with the napkin, he squeezed Char's hand under the table.
Jay smiled weakly at her and then looked away. "It was never my goal to make you feel weak, or used, or helpless." he said seriously. "You don't have to stick around with me because you feel like you have to, or I want you to or something. I'm sorry if you feel that way..."Charlotte squeezed his hand back, glad he remembered her. She watched their little boy eat and smiled with joy. He was such a darling, and he was theirs.
Drina felt the tears again "I want to stay.." she whispered and bit her lip "my heart is yours...and it will break if I can't be with you, but I don't want you to feel obligated because of that...I just want you honest with me...I can take it."Stefan brought it up and kissed the knuckles "this is delicious darling...turning into quite a chef."
Jay sucked in a breath, not expecting her to stay with him after that. He looked at her, his eyes longing and chewed on his lip. "I love you Drina. I really think I do."Charlotte smiled at him, flattered. She looked shyly at the table. "It was easy to make..." She said, shrugging.
Drina felt that light come back and she cupped his face kissing him deeply and running her tongue along the bottom of his lip.Stefan shook his head "not so!" He insisted and smiled at Tide " is mommy a good cook?"
Jay hugged her tight, kissing her back, but it was sweet, not like he kissed the other girls. It had meaning. He ran his hands gently through her hair and pulled her close.Tide nodded and smiled eagerly, noddles hanging out of his mouth he was eating so fast.
Charlotte gave him a stern glance. "Slow down young man..."
Drina felt it, the love she wasn't just another girl he did care about her. She held to him and pushed him to the soft bed and ran her hands through his hair "I'm sorry...for not trusting you..." She whispered heartfelt.Stefan took the bowl away "finish what's in your mouth first." He said with the stern look Char was giving him.
Jay scooped an arm beneath her and pulled her closer. "No. It's ok. You had every reason to not trust me." He whispered, kissing her gently. "But let's put that in the past... please?" He asked hopefully. Tide grimaced and swallowed, pouting. "I'm still hungry!" He protested.

Stefan smiled and nodded "I promised you a lot...I still have to show you everything!"
