McKensie and Lara II :)
Drina smiled and took his hand and kissed his palm "you are healing me with your touch and words...I love you Jay...let us forget the past and create the future...our happily ever after."Stefan shook his head and smiled "it's not that grand..."
Jay smiled, liking the feeling of her lips on his hand. It was more of a kind gesture, which was why it meant something to him. "We will have a happily ever after. I promise." he whispered, kissing her forehead gently. He was intent on keeping that promise. Charlotte sighed and looked down a little. "Yeah." She agreed, shrugging. "I suppose." She sighed softly. "I'm just... I..." She shook her head, forcing herself to smile. "No. I shouldn't be thinking like that. I love you, and that is all that matters." She said seriously, before kissing his cheek.
Drina smiled and leaned back on her hand "tell me more about our home and what our life is going to be like..." She loved hearing his vision and being very excited about being together.Stefan frowned and took her hand "what is it? You can ask me anything...we are in this together my love."
Jay nodded, obliging. "Well. I have a large house out in the country. It is on a huge stretch of property, with rolling hills in the front, and a forest out back." He started, smiling as he thought about it. "The entry is huge, and really white. Clean all the time. My parents passed the house to me, you see."Charlotte looked up at him. "I just feel that I should have been the one to get legs permanently and join you in your world." She said honestly, looking down again. "I feel so badly for taking you away from your life."
Drina smiled in awe and nodded "may we raise horses?...I love horseback riding." She said almost in a dream like state "and how many children?..." She giggled feeling like a schoolgirl.Stefan shook his head "it was easier for me to come down here and create our beautiful boy. Tide wouldn't have existed and Jason would still be harassing you..."
Jay smiled. "Of course we can." he agreed. "I have lots of dogs, hunting dogs, and one horse, but there's no reason why we can't get more!" He said seriously. Then he smiled, kissing her cheek. "I'll have as many as you would like my dear."Charlotte nodded, shuddering a little when she thought of that. "Thank you." She said, hugging him tight. "Thank you for everything."
Drina grinned and pecked his cheek "I love dogs...why would you ever leave your home?...who is taking care of them now?" She slowly stood leading him out to the garden outside of the library through double oak doors.Stefan kissed her and swam circles around her quickly "teach me how to hunt Char!"
Jay followed her, enjoying the scenery they passed. "I left to serve. My family was killed. There were too many memories back home. I told my servants to take care of the place should I return." he explained, his eyes drifting over the exotic plants in the garden. Charlotte smiled, nodding eagerly. "Sure. But think you can handle it?" She asked, pulling out two of her hunting spears. both had deadly sharp points on their tips, rubbed with sealion poison
Drina ran her fingers against the delicate petals, she didn't know what to say...a witch killed them. He left for the military to find that witch...and instead found her. She created a bench out of the flowers making it steady but wouldn't hurt the garden. She sat down and pulled him down with her "now how do you feel?..."Stefan nodded admiring the weapon "I might as well know how to defend and feed my family..." He glanced at the shell cradle "what about Tide though?..."
Jay looked at his hands and sighed. "I don't know. I don't know what to feel about witches anymore. I know I'm in love with one. But I also know I have a hatred for the one who murdered my family." He said honestly. Charlotte smiled a little. "I'll put a bubble wall on the cave entrance so nothing comes in or out. We wont go far." She promised, handing him one of the spears, and keeping one for herself. "Sound good?"
Drina laced her fingers through his and squeezed his hand lightly, it was hard knowing what to say or how to help. "The one that murdered your family and probably countless others is an evil entity, they aren't considered 'witches', we call them 'dark ones' or 'bloodbanes'. My people are 'wiccans' we are granted the energy of nature and do not ask for much...there's a distinct difference of many different kinds...I don't want you to just think we clump altogether as 'witches'.Stefan nodded and used the band to strap it around his shoulders, he checked on Tide before following her out "what if he wakes up and we aren't here?..."
Jay squeezed her hand back and nodded, listening to her. So there were different types. Well that made it easier to choose who to hate. Now he knew he hated 'bloodbanes' and not just witches in general. "So you're a wiccan." He repeated, smiling a little. "Then I'm in love with a wiccan."Charlotte smiled a little as she put up the force around the cave entrance to keep Tide safe. "Merpeople are very independent. He should get used to having us away on a hunt." she said seriously. "At least we have not abandoned him completely as most parents would." she looked out to the ocean and pointed to the right along the cliffs. "I'll take you there first. We should find some good food."
Drina flushed and gave him a smile kissing his cheek and nuzzling his shoulder. "Yes...but I am giving that up once we reach America, we do not need any further complications. As soon as I erase the minds of your enemies I am forsaking the energy. I don't think we will ever truly be accepted anywhere, but that is alright as long as we don't go extinct..."Stefan shook his head "I cannot imagine leaving him..." He admitted quietly "I guess humans are not as strong as mer people." He followed her through the dark abyss to the caves that she was referring to.
Jay frowned a little. "Why would you give it up?" He asked, looking at her. "I'm starting to see how cool being a witch is..." He said seriously, cupping her face with one hand. He didn't want her to give up anything for him. Charlotte shook her head. "That's not true. We just have different customs." She swam slowly into one of the caverns and crouched behind a rock, watching three large crabs scuttle back and forth. "Be ready." She advised.
"Wiccan." She corrected "witch is kind of an insulting term..." She admitted honestly and sighed "I don't want to be burned at the stake for one, and two we don't need our children to be isolated. Being born a witch you have no control and that's fine in the desert but not in a place with many people."Stefan grabbed his spear quickly and waited for her command, those things were huge! He had no idea crab could be that massive. There would be enough meat for a couple of weeks.
Jay nodded. "Wiccan, right. Sorry." He corrected. He sighed, understanding what she said. "Well I suppose it is your choice." He admitted, hugging her. "I'll support you either way."Charlotte crept closer, moving slowly across the cave floor, using her fingertips to pull herself forwards. She nodded to Stefan then, and thew her spear with enough force to run it right through the closest crab. The closest leg alone was at least three feet long.
Drina leaned into him and sighed happily "I know, thank you...I love you Jay, I'll figure it all out..." She promised and kissed him deeply again. "Another fact please?" She asked wanting to change the subject.Stefan watched amazed and followed her lead, his belly dragged against the stone floor and he chucked the spear like a javelin and impaled the crab like a shish kabob.
Jay nodded, kissing her hair, before looking around at the plants. "Well. I had a crush on a girl in grade three, but other than that, I haven't really had time to settle with anyone. Charlotte grinned, nodded. "Good job." She complimented, yanking out her spear. "Let's take them back." she suggested, lifting hers and starting the swim back to their cave.
Drina was surprised at that fact, he was so handsome and kind "how is that possible?..." Her eyes wide "you are any woman's idea of a perfect gentleman..." She sighed "I was betrothed, to that awful thief tha kidnapped you...but I never felt anything..."Stefan took out his spear and took her crab from her and tied them up and carried both back. He smiled still seeing Tide asleep "never knew we were gone..."
Jay smiled a little. "Well thanks for the vote of confidence. I guess I was just too busy. No one bothered to talk to me." then he grimaced. "Well I am glad you did not marry that murderer." He said seriously. Charlotte followed him back and nodded, smiling. "Yes. still sleeping." She poked one of the crabs. "Might as well get these cleaned out and prepared while he is still sleeping.
Drina swallowed "he was a good man still Jay...you have to see my family's point of view...my brother and then me they were scared...Gave no right to what they did to you..." She promised and sighed "our story is beautiful because through all of that...our love survived."Stefan nodded and grabbed the sharp tooth blade and cut down the legs scooping out the meat and sneaking a piece or two.
Jay nodded, kissing her head. "I know. I'm sorry." he sighed softly. "I just find it hard to regard that man kindly." He shook his head. "But yes. It does make our story beautiful. And it would be even more beautiful written down."Charlotte worked beside him, cutting into the crab and storing the meat away for later. She hit him playfully when she saw him stealing some. "Save it. We'll need every bit we gather."
Drina smiled and ran her hands through his hair and kissed him lovingly "maybe I can do that...you can teach me the words to write. I'm sure that I'll know English fluently by then..."Stefan chuckled "I'm starving! Give me a break Char, you and Tofd are I did not..." He kissed her lovingly "it was very hot watching you hunt by the way..."
Jay nodded eagerly, kissing her nose. "I think that would be wonderful." He agreed. A maid walked in then, and cleared her throat. "My master has returned. He has requested to speak with you."Charlotte smiled softly, pulling out a piece from the leg. "I'm sorry. I thought you ate." she fed him the piece, blushing softly. "And thank you. People don't usually watch me."
Drina moved away from him embarrassed and looked at Jay for a translation, she was proud that she caught a couple of words 'he, speak, with, you.' Just simple little words but she knew them.Stefan ate it happily and nuzzled her "I'm so fortunate to have a great teacher to watch..."
Jay smiled at Drina and translated the message for her. "It would seem we are requested to speak with him." He added on after. The maid nodded and Jay looped his arm through Drina's. "Let us be off then."Charlotte smiled, kissing him. "And you're a quick learner. very enjoyable to teach." She teased, lacing her fingers with his.
Drina leaned her head against his shoulder and followed the maid, her stomach was nervously fluttering. The very rich man that took them in and saved their lives wanted to speak to her. What if he didn't approve of her and Jay being together?...Stefan kissed each finger and smiled, he looked over when he heard soft cooing. He went to Tide and held him "hey little man...member me?"
Jay kept his head tall as they walked into an office, decorated in rich mahoganys and a bookshelf of very old looking manuscripts. The man standing by the fire, his hands clasped behind his back, turned and smiled. "Welcome. I hear you have been recovering well."Tide smiled brightly and hugged his father, burying his face against him, his little tail flipping happily.
Charlotte smiled over at her two boys, before going back to working on the crabs.
Drina's eyes wandered around the room, the fire was warm and welcoming. She had to control the urge to show visions in the flames as she always had. She looked at the man, he was young but still looked very wise. She looked at Jay needing a translation.Stefan smiled and rubbed his back rocking him carefully "did you sleep well?..." He asked softly handing him a little conch shell to play with, it was filled with small pearls so it was very much like a rattle.
Jay translated what he said for her, and then nodded. "We did, thanks to your help. We will forever be in your debt." He said seriously. The man nodded. "It was my pleasure to help someone in need." He smiled.
Jay translated again.
Tide nodded, taking the conch and shaking it, grinning happily at the noise it made. He shook it harder and giggled.
Drina smiled and curtsied before slowly pronouncing in English "thank you...you are very kind..." She looked at Jay to make sure that she said it correctly and didn't mess up.Stefan chuckled letting him play with it, he tickled his tummy lightly "I have a very handsome little man!"
Jay nodded his assurance as the man smiled and nodded. "It is no problem really. However, I can't keep you here forever. Do you have plans to move on?"Jay translated and then nodded. "We will continue to America. My family estate is there." He explained.
Tide laughed a bubbling child's laugh and flipped his fin against Stefan's hand lightly, grinning a little deviously.
Drina nodded after Jay had translated "is there a ship that could take us there?" She asked so Jay could translate. She still felt uneasy about the storm but Jay would keep her safe she knew that. America wasn't too far away from the island.Stefan laughed and tickled his fin "little imp aren't you?...just like your mother..." He smiled at Char.
The master nodded. "There are ports quite near here. I could get you to one, make sure you got on a ship to america." He promised. Jay smiled, bowing a little. "Thank you. That would be marvelous."
Charlotte looked up from the last of the meat she had finished packing away. "Look who's talking? You're the imp!" She teased.
Tide giggled, squirming a little as his tail was ticklish.
Drina nodded in agreement, but she was concerned. None of the dresses were hers or the night gowns. She was sure her old dress was in shreds but...she didn't want to overstep her boundaries.Stefan chuckled and pecked his cheek "go see your mama!" He urged letting him swim over to Char.
The master nodded, waving his hand in dismissal. "The maids will pack you a bag for the trip and I'll have you on a ship in the morning."Jay bowed again in thanks and left with Drina. "Well that went well." He said, smiling.
Tide swam over and tackled Charlotte around her waist. She sqeaked, laughing. "My you're strong." She said, prying his arms from around her.
Drina nodded and kissed his cheek "we will be leaving! Going to our home...it's all so surreal, do you think any friends will be joyful of you coming home?"Stefan laughed and tackled her as well "2 against 1 darling!"
Jay smiled, kissing her gently. "Yes, it will be amazing." He agreed, walking back to their room with her. "And they may be. Depends. It's not unusual for soldiers to go missing oversees."Charlotte wiggled against them for a moment before lying limp, laughing. "Ok ok. You win."
Tide grinned and kissed her cheek. "Food?" He asked hopefully.
Drina kissed him back wrapping her arms around his neck and just enjoying the closeness. "I can't wait to meet your friends and see your life not as a Captain...but anyway you are I will still love you."Stefan was ecstatic that Tide spoke, his voice was so bubbly and sweet. He carefully got some of the softer crab meat for him to eat and watched him.
Jay smiled softly. "I don't know... you might not like me when I'm not being as professional." He teased, kissing her cheek. "But I do think you'll like my friends. They're a bit... eccentric."Tide ate all of the meat, slowly this time, enjoying each piece. Charlotte rocked him gently as he did, also thrilled that he had said his first word.
Drina laughed and poked his stomach "I think I may like you more...seeing you relax once in awhile!" she took his hand and pulled it to her cheek "I love anyone that you love...except females." She added teasingly.Stefan watched them amazed, it still didn't feel real at all. His son didn't cry or need a diaper change he was just perfect. Stefan swam close and kissed his flushed little cheek.
Jay grinned, backing up when she poked him, only to wrap his arms around her from behind. "And if you start loving any of my friends too much I may get jealous." He teased, kissing her cheek. Tide grinned and hugged his father's face. When he had finished the meat, he swam back to his bed and curled up, falling asleep almost immediately. Charlotte smiled a little. "that's how its going to be for a while. Just eating and sleeping."
Drina smiled up at him "you are the only one for me..." She promised "plus you are the only one that understands me. Literally!"Stefan smiled "that is quite a life...will he keep growing or?.."
Jay laughed a little. "You're right." He agreed, kissing her. "But I trust you. Which is why I am teaching you English." He said, his eyes portraying his love for her. It was a deeper thing than infatuation.Charlotte nodded. "He will. Until he is full grown." She assured. "He will have longer periods of not sleeping or eating until then."
Drina smiled and cupped his face, she kissed him deeply and nudged her nose against his. "Teach me how to express my love for you?..."Stefan nodded and watched him closely, he was sucking on his thumb and cooing little bubbles. "When do you think we should take him on land for the first time?"
Jay smiled, sort of roguishly and slid his hands around her waist. "Was that a challenge?" He asked, kissing her passionately. "Because I'm up for that." He whispered. Charlotte thought for a moment. "Soon." She assured. "We want him to get used to that as well, before he gets too old."
Drina kissed him back with the same deep passion she kicked the door closed with her heel and nodded "teach me..." She whispered in his ear seductively.Stefan sighed "I just can't imagine him in that much pain..."
Jay grinned, kissing her again, like it he put his soul into it and let his hands wander over her back as he guided them to the bed. Charlotte sighed softly. "I know. I wish the transition was easier. But he needs to know both our worlds, Stefan. Besides. I want to see it too." She said seriously, leaning her head on his shoulder.

Charlotte hugged him tightly. "But your beautiful house..." She loved that he loved her so much, but she hated that he had to give up everything to be with her.
