Series Read: Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan: Starts November 21, 2014
I'm already reading The Eye of the World at the moment so will jump in on discussions once you guys start reading. Hopefully, I'll be able to hold off reading the next in series, till you guys schedule them.
Yayy!!!! This is the best fantasy series I've ever read. I love it so much. Can't wait to re-read.
oh man... so many books to read in November... and somehow I missed this one... ah, it's late in the month... I would love to read along.

I'd love to stick it to him.. :) Hopefully I can snag this from the library.

Disk world???? No way that's the best! Robert Jordan can take Terry Pratchet any day or any age :)
I have read a little Discworld. Never read The Wheel of Time, but it's hard to believe is inferior to the Discworld stuff. Then you have Tolkien, Rothfuss, Martin, etc. Let the great fantasy author smackdown begin!
Mahfuz wrote: "Disk world???? No way that's the best! Robert Jordan can take Terry Pratchet any day or any age :)"I don't know, Pratchett is pretty good and i love the humor, dry wit, and sarcasm. Of course, you cant go in comparing. Have to evaluate on their own merit. I'm sure Jordan has his own redeeming qualities.

Not sure how but that's a great tag line. :) Although I will admit, I have not heard of Rothfuss, I'll have to check her?Him? out.
Him. Patrick Rothfuss. The Name of the Wind. Stop what you're doing and read it immediately. Best fantasy book I've read in a long time.
I'm sorry, I'm reading How to be a Pirate by Cressida Cowell. (How to Train a Dragon #2) Now THAT's some fantasy.
I will definitely add The Name of the Wind to my list and get to it within 3 months though.
Good move. It's the first of a trilogy. I haven't read the second book yet since I have found myself with a ton if books to read by the end of the year.

Hi Mollie. I've already read the first 5 in this series and loving every one of them. They're just great fast and easy reads.
The third book in the WoT is my favorite, but all of them are so intricate...I just love them. I think a lot of people stop loving them after a couple in because there are just so many characters- but to me that's what makes it so amazing!
I have the first 10 books in this series on my Nook but haven't started them yet. I may jump in to discuss.
Before we start, I want to tell you that my favorite character when I only read the first book was Nynaeve, and that she stayed my favorite character throughout the entire series. That has never happened to me before!

They are so very, very different from the movies. I was quite surprised although I don't know why. I do like the light-hearted quick read after slogging through a mammoth tomb
I've never read these books even though I bought the series from a Friends of the Library book sale. I'm still searching for book #12 though :).I'll try to join in too.
I've got through to about book 5. Love the series so far, though my head does begin to spin with all the characters!

The truth is...it just gets more and more confusing lol Especially because some of the characters start having very similar names. But it is so worth it. I loved every second of this series. It was the first series (yes even including HP) that made me really sad for its end.

I finished reading The Eye of the World. Can't wait for you guys to get your copies and get started. You guys will surely enjoy it.

I've read books 1-7 and New Spring and am currently reading tor.com's rereads for book 6 and 7 since it's been so long so I can pick back up at book 8 and finish off the series. So once the buddy read has caught up to there I'll join in for sure. I'll probably lurk until then though
I love this series more than I can say and re-reading it is going to be a dream.
I'd like to join in. I read The Eye of the World a couple of years ago but didn't continue with the series even though I liked it. So I would like to reread it and then continue on.

ᴥᴥᴥᴥᴥBook: The Eye of the World - prologue to chapter to 4
ᴥᴥᴥᴥᴥ
I just finished chapter 4 (already behind my own schedule) and I'm enjoying the writing so far.
The Prologue left me curious about what happened before that point, and I was hooked by the first paragrapher of chapter 1.
(view spoiler)
I'm still getting used to the different names and places, and I'm consulting a lot the maps to get more familiarized with the world.
Any one else like maps in fantasy books?
(view spoiler)
I'm on chapter 5. I've read this book before but it's been four years so I don't remember a lot, but bits and pieces are coming back. I agree that the names take some getting used to and I find maps helpful too in getting the places straight. I agree that the mood is set even from the very beginning. (view spoiler)
It's interesting to see reactions of people who are reading it for the first time knowing what I know having finished book 8.@Juliana - (view spoiler)
I like having maps in fantasy books. Seeing how the world has been created entirely from the author's imagination, it's good to have the places sketched out, to see how distant places are, and thus, the protagonist's journey... Maps always help aid my imagination and involve me deeper in the author's created world.
