@ Becca & Melissa, re Chapter 19 - My mom is so much like Jane's Mom. If she isn't all up in somebody's business then she's not happy. It would be just like her to pull a stunt like that.
I think her mother is very concerned about her daughter and doesn't really know what to do and is reaching out to who she thinks may be a good friend. I would hope my mom would do the same.
Yeah, it feels like the book makes a distinction between "working moms" and "career moms". Renata is the only career mom that I've seen? Everyone else has a job that lets them still have flexibility for the kid, which the career mom doesn't have. I don't know, I only notice it since *I* am a "career mom", and we always get a bad rep! Haha

LOL - couldn't of said it better myself [spoilers removed]"
You are so right. LOL
Fingers crossed there are still people around to discuss this book! I've read through Chapter 6 this morning.

Hi Rebecca, it does get easier to keep everyone straight as you keep reading.
I'm sure a few of us will pop back in to discuss with you!

You don't really have to keep track of everyone in the "side comments". You eventually get a feel for them. It's just interesting to hear their take on what happened, which is of course skewed, like all gossip. The main characters are all introduced outside of those comments and you get to know them pretty well.
Kristie (~ Gaildis, of the Elves ~) wrote: "You don't really have to keep track of everyone in the "side comments"..."Thanks for letting me know. I had to go back to the beginning and re-read but now I have a feel for it and I'm really enjoying it.

It all ties up quite nicely at the end doesn't it?

I know I'm a bit late to answer but I could not put this book down. I had to know what happened aand I liked and felt connected to these characters which is a nice change after reading all of GGilligan Flynn's books whose characters are dispicable.

I have to say, I love the way this author writes! What a wonderful imagination for storytelling she has. This is a perfect example of why reading is soooo much fun!!!
I finally finished this last night. Wow!Chapter 34 - End

All in all, this was a 4 star read for me. This is the second book I've read by this author, and she did not disappoint.

I think most of us didn't figure out who was the murderer until almost the very end. Moriaty is a very clever writer.

She sure can write a fascinating story. If you haven't read
,also by Moriaty, you should try it! (its quite different)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
jingles wrote: "Thanks, Laura. I'll add that to my TBR now."Hope you like it.. I think that Kristie and a few others requested a buddy read thread for it.
I 'm going to read
which was recommended to me. It looks intriguing!
I know I'm jumping in here somewhat late, but have to say I loved this book. The character development was excellent and I really didn't figure out either who was murdered or who did it right up until the end!! The only other book of hers I've read was The Hypnotist's Love Story which had some great twists to it too! I had just started the Husband's Secret when Big Little Lies came in at the library, so now I'll go back to that.
I really enjoyed this book too Jane, it was frustrating not to know anything until right near the end too, very clever.

At NRBC we use three styles of buddy reads. These will be indicated in the thread title as “Buddy Read”, “Relaxed Buddy Read” or “Informal Buddy Read”.~ Buddy Style Reads ~
Three Ways to Enjoy a Book!
A “Buddy Read” has a discussion leader and a reading date is set to start the book. A reading schedule is posted prior to the start date and discussion questions are posted each day regarding that section of the book. More information about these types of reads is below. An example is here, showing a reading schedule here.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
A “Relaxed Buddy Read” is similar to our usual “buddy reads” except there are less questions and break points. For example, a book may be split into three sections and those reading the book should pause at the end of the section to answer some discussion questions, make comments, or ask their own questions to other readers. An example is here.
An “Informal Buddy Read” doesn’t have a discussion leader and participants are asked to consider some generic questions when making comments about the book. An example is here.
A “Read and Watch Buddy Read” may be set up as any of the above, but we will also watch the movie or T.V. series - or even go to a play! - and make comparisons, discussing what has been left out or changed as well as the actors and actresses. There is a long debate of what one should do first: read the books or watch the movie? We usually read first, but it isn’t essential. Also, if you would like to join in, but don’t want to watch the movie, show, or play, but only read the books, that is fine, too. An example is here.

I'm not exactly sure why that happened (view spoiler)[ I kind of felt like maybe the mom got diarrhea of the mouth as she had no one else to talk about her fears about her daughter. Then all of a sudden she meets a woman who she thinks likes her daughter. It was a little TMI all at once. Like maybe Madeline should have shut her up sooner (hide spoiler)]
