❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9632 comments So do you want us to attack bad books? I do have couple waiting to be read.
Also do you want us to post what prompt might work when posting, or you'll figure that one yourself?

I can give you bad books I have, but I'm not really sure what I'll be reading so I don't know if there is a point in giving you a list. Some of them would be rereads so I guess I don't see them as bad :P

Oh, and there is no way I'm reading my suggestions. One of them is really very nice pointwise, but my 'doing it for the team' does have boundaries (especially when I know what awaits me) :P

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9632 comments Also some of the players made listopia of bad books recommendations if you prefer that to see what's on the list
But since it's listopia, and everybody can add books on it, be sure to check in the bad books thread if book is really there :)

It would be helpful if you can post what prompt it works for, also if we can prioritise reading off the bad book list that would give us some easy points.
I’m going to be reading Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare at a cool 698 pages

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9632 comments I just got Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell from library, but it's also sin bingo book so I don't know where it'll bring more points

Sadly I couldn't get my hands on Mr Darcy.

Others that might work with prompts
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
and few more but they mostly work for same prompts :(

Alex, Megan, and Hannah we haven’t any books logged for you this week."

I have added books I finished yesterday, we are now at 36 books - so we have 6 left to hit our max.

message 306: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1992 comments I’m planning to read exclusively from the bad book list for any new books I start after week 5 starts.

I’ve recently purchased these two so I’ll definitely be doing these in the coming weeks:
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Red Rising (Red Rising, #1) by Pierce Brown

Outlander will probably take me more than a week though, so I’ll probably wait till week 6 to read it since bad books can be used in both parts 1&2 in week 5.

I’m making a library trip either tomorrow or Tuesday so I’ll see what others from the list I can pick up!

Louise | 3376 comments With just over 2 hours to go we have reached our limit for the week before we get penalised. Great job everyone.

Yeah sorry I was sick this week and two family birthdays so I didn't finish anything. I will make sure to read some stuff this week. Sorry about that.

Louise | 3376 comments Glad you’re feeling better Hannah

message 314: by Gareless (new)

Gareless | 48 comments Yes I left on vacation and haven’t really had time to read anything but I’m going back home tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be able to finish something for next week! Sorry!!

message 315: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments I'm thinking I'll read Leah on the Offbeat (Creekwood, #2) by Becky Albertalli because it would apply for both part 1 and part 2 of the next mini challenge. Unless there is somewhere else my reading would be more helpful.

That would be ideal 😀

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments started Bridget Jones's Diary from the "bad book" list... must say, I'm already irritated with it. Wish I could find an audiobook for it (Overdrive, RB Digital, and Hoopla didn't have it)

message 318: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1992 comments How long do we have to finish BOM -- does it have to be during the month it's being read, or within a month from that date?

Asking because I was just able to get a copy of Wilder Girls. It was an October BOM but wasn't started till Oct. 16.

If it's still eligible for the extra points I'll go ahead and read it within the next week or so. But if not I'll probably skip it.

message 319: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3376 comments You’ve got until Nov 16th. I’m hoping to do the same

message 320: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments I'm going to update my post for that (wilder girls) because I did all the DQs but didnt link them all.

message 321: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1992 comments I just saw the new Avarice mini challenge is posted -- that one looks fun!

My current read would be perfect for "ascension" on our third card. I don't think I'd finish it till after week 6 starts anyway since it's a longer one.

Maddy | 2127 comments Hey Captains? Can you post current status? How many more can we read? I will have 2 more books. Maybe 3

I would like to know if I should speed up or slow down

Maddy | 2127 comments Hmm... Okay, correction. Finished one today. Plan to finish two more. And then another tomorrow. I feel a binge coming :D

Two are on the short side so I can skip posting those if we are at our limit :)

message 328: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2395 comments Chris - can you please link your BOM questions in your Chestnut Man completion post?

message 329: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2395 comments Do we have any aspiring writers in our midst??

We need to create a story from the prompts and book titles for the Lust mini. Below are the prompts you have to use and a list of book titles we've read so far. Is someone willing to take a stab at it? Please? With sprinkles on top???

Prompts - you do NOT have to use the entire title, you can also fill in as much as you want between prompts, although we should probably keep it to a sentence or two between.
- Adjective for person #One
- Person #One's name / role
- Adjective for person #Two
- Person #Two's name / role
- Where they met
- What they went there for
- What #One wore
- What #Two wore
- What #One said to #Two
- What #Two said to #One
- The consequence (a description of what happened after)
- What the world said

Book titles - there are more titles than prompts, choose what works!
- Murder Is Easy
- City of Heavenly Fire
- A Kiss of Shadows
- Never Too Much
- Dark Awakening
- Zodiac
- The Mystery of the Moving Image
- Cut & Run
- Up From the Grave
- Bird Box
- The Unwelcomed Child
- A Room With A View
- Year One
- Honor Bound
- Where the Light Enters
- The Chestnut Man
- Let It Snow
- My Lucky Charm

message 330: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments I could try, but I don't quite understand the prompts, sorry :(

message 331: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2395 comments Maddy wrote: "I could try, but I don't quite understand the prompts, sorry :("

The first prompt is an adjective for person #1 - choose a book title that has an adjective in it that could describe a person.

The second prompt is that same person's name or their role (or job) - choose a book title that has a word that could be a name or someone's role/job.

Then connect the titles/words into sentences. There was an example in the Mini Challenge thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 332: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments - Adjective for person #One - My Lucky Charm - lucky
- Person #One's name / role - Kevin's Alpha - Kevin
- Adjective for person #Two - - City of Heavenly Fire - heavenly
- Person #Two's name / role - A Song for Julia - Julia
- Where they met - - A Room With A View
- What they went there for -to find - The Chestnut Man
- What #One wore - - A Kiss of Shadows
- What #Two wore - - Where the Light Enters
- What #One said to #Two - - Up From the Grave
- What #Two said to #One - - Cut & Run
- The consequence (a description of what happened after) -- Dark Awakening
- What the world said - - Let It Snow

Hmmm.... Limited options don't ya think? :D

Here is what I can do...

Lucky Kevin and Heavenly Julia met one day in a Room With A View,
hoping to find the Chestnut man and stop him from taking his due.
One dressed in shadows, the other bathed in light,
they surveyed the room, with no villain in sight.
"He is up from the grave" said sadly one.
The other agreed, "he has cut and run".
Dark awakening has started, send out the crow.
The world sighs deeply: "Let it snow"

Maddy | 2127 comments Gosh, that is bad :D
But it fits the purpose I guess :D

message 334: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments Can a book be BOTM and be used in mini challenge? Maybe the Chestnut man should be substituted with "Bird" or "Zodiac" so we can use Chestnut man for BOTM?

If we swap that in the Chestnut man can o for a cover color

The Tyrant's Tomb
Sense and Sensibility

If we are short on books this week, I can leave it for next round and try to fit some shorties

message 344: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2395 comments Maddy! What an awesome job!!! Thank-you!!

Yes, if we read enough books to make two stories, we should. We do get extra points for completing each story.

message 345: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments Well can you make a list of choices left then if we use my example? Or choices left if we use another example?

Just so we know what is left and maybe squeeze in some last minute books for missing stuff

Louise | 3376 comments Avarice Mini Challenge

Full rules can be found here

You will have three bingo cards with words related to greed. For each word, read a book that matches the word in some way: cover, title, genre, theme - be as creative as you want as you try to cover as much of the cards as possible (These are in msg 2 of this thread)

◈ Only books finished between 11th and 18th November will count for the Avarice mini challenge (i.e. books finished in week 6).
◈ Books will either count towards the main part of the challenge (the Seven Deadly Sins) or towards this mini challenge.
◈ You will gain 5 points for each square you fill
◈ You will gain an additional 7 points if you complete a card
◈ You will gain an additional 7 points for each 7 square straight line you completely fill (vertical / horizontal / corner-to-corner)
◈ Captains will report straight line bonus requests in the Check-in at the end of the week.
