I loved the image! So fierce, and with a gang of little demons to help out :)
So, I'd written a lovely welcome message last night and then my phone ate it :(. This is take two...
I think most of us know each other, from challenges & Quidditch & the like, but it's nice to catch up. What have you been up to recently? And what great books have you read this year?
Also... How competitive do we want to go? There are a number of prize trophies - most points, most books, most BOM... Are we going to get our Wrath on and try for the points glory??!
For me.... Still working at the National Gallery, doing the auntie thing, but what I have started recently is the Couch to 5k program. I'm in week 3 - it's a bit tough but I'm determined! Hopefully by the start of autumn rain I'll be fully into it and out there running!
Books - I've been on a big Space Opera trip this year (hence the Wrath genre :) we mods like to give each other little gifts like that!) and loved both

I'm looking forward to both of October's BOMs (Gideon the Ninth & Wilder Girls, plus, in November, this comes out
. Love Peter Grant, and that's a nice green cover for Envy, right :)

Silly phone. Shouldn't eat carefully thought out messages.
I'm not sure how many of you I've been on a team with in the past, but I've certainly seen a lot of you around the group.
I'm mum to a nearly 2 year old boy, Joe and work part time as a GP in training (got an exam in early December so might be a little quiet as that gets closer).
Books - haven't read anything that really grabbed me for a little while. Am hopeful that TT will change that.

I'm looking forward to False Value as well! Has to be on audio so hopefully my new Audible subscription will start at the right time - haven't had any credits for a few months now.
Well done on couch to 5k Cat! I keep meaning to start exercising more but I think it'll have to wait until life is a bit quieter

Will write more later when not on annoying phone app.
I hate the app! Have got a bug report in with GR as the web browser on my phone won't let me send messages in groups

My mobile web browser likes to hide the "post" button. I have to increase the screen size and poke repeatedly at the small sliver of the button I can see. I've made it a bit of a game now: can I get the button first poke?!

That's the problem I'm having. Used to be able to solve it by pressing enter somewhere in the message but that doesn't uncover it any more. Will have to play with screen sizes until they fix it.
Ooh I've changed the accessibility settings and all is fixed! Can see all the post button. V excited by this as I can actually update everything properly now
I've realised that one of the BOMs,
:
a) has a green cover
b) has genre Young Adult and
c) has been read by Alysa already
that's an Envy Sin Bingo! plus BOM points :) whoo-hoo!

Which would be really cruel for anyone on Alysa's team, lol.
Unless anyone else has read it this year too?
And my library has an estimated 6month wait for it...
Will see what some of you think during BOM then might buy it if it's any good. Trying hard not to spend too much money on books

Unknown.... but if they finish it after other people doing the BOM they can use the new readers...
cue some eagle-eyed spies waiting for finish reports!

Are you a kindle user, Sophie? I can share a copy...

Lol. I am being indirectly victimized already. 😆
But good point about my team being able to use it after other people have read it for BOM! Unless it ends up being worth more points as a BOM than as a Bingo... Hmmm... *math*

BOM points are separate :)
and no, you still can't have BOM points for chatting if you can't read it during TT. sorry!

Green / YA and 1 of Sloth Team Members, Melissa read it in Aug 2019.

You have a point :)

And congrats on joining the Mod Squad, Cat!!
Thanks Elena :)
We've got a good team here, so we are winning already!
A couple of things about strategy and points...
We will be getting most of our points from page counts (courtesy of the whizzy new system), so reading big books is perfect for this challenge!
BOMs, of course, also bring in decent points, though I do appreciate that BOMs are not for everyone in terms of book choice or the chat format. But... if you like the look of the books, it's an easy few points for us! (and I might be able to help with kindle copies....)
Then there's the bonus points for how we place a book against a sin. These are measly in the scheme of things, so I wouldn't really spend too much time specifically hunting down books to fit the criteria. But.... if a book has the right colour cover, we'll totally place that for the extra points!
On which note: use of all tools beyond eyeball to judge colours of cover have been banned. Mention of them will probably be penalised with penalty points. So, common sense judgement from here on out! (Wilder Girls has been deemed a green cover)
So, if I had my preferences:
- go for books you want to read
- if they are long ones that's all the better
- if you are torn between two of the same length, pick the colour cover first!
- only hunt down Sin Bingo books if you really enjoying the hunt for specific books - those points are a little reward, not the main course!
- BOMs encouraged but not compulsory!

Thanks Cat! That's a good breakdown of what to do for books, will try not to get too hung up on the sins

I will be trying to read space opera as much as I can, but it's not a hardship at all. He he. And there are always chunksters I never quite manage to read at other times, so I hope I'll manage a few of those.

This is Team Sloth dropping by & wishing You All happy reading! :)

Hi Melinda!
*waves back madly*

Hi! Happy reading!! Just remember you really do not have to embrace your sin and annihilate everyone.

Hi Melinda and Ora!
If other teams are well behaved we might not unleash our wrath on them, but I'm not promising anything.

Cat, I feel like the next round of Lava has been inspired by you.
