William was going to be the discussion leader for the September group reads, but is busy with the real world at this time. He sends his apologies. Hopefully he'll be able to join in at some point. I'll take over as the unofficial leader and would love it if everyone else would join in with questions, suggestions, and comments.

I used to own a lot of Herbert books, but they got tossed out during several moves and house cleanings.
Me too, Tressa. I actually had to purge my massive used book collection and I think my old copy of The Dark got purged (why? hell I dunno...it was pretty ratty looking)...but I may have to dig another copy up from the various used bookstores around the area and read it again. I am reading a somewhat recent novel called Once... by Herbert and it is pretty good so far!
Cool...glad you liked it. I'd recommend any of his novels (there are probably half dozen I haven't read yet, though). He's very good.
The Dark is my fav. Second would be Sepulchre. The Spear was pretty good and so was The Fog. The one I am reading now is called Once... It is very good, kind of like an adult (very adult) fairy tale...
His best so far is IMO 'The Ghosts of Sleath'. Ghosts haunting ghosts? Not a spoiler, from the blurb on the back cover.
I'd second 'Sepulchre' as another. The worst one I've read is 'Magic Cottage'.
But, hell, everyone's allowed an off day now and then...
I just finished "The Dark" a few days ago, and I enjoyed it very much. Loved the atmospherics and the tension. I bought "The Fog", and I"m going to start reading that one today.
