The diversity topic we will cover in October is race/ethnicity. Please suggest books by 9/11/19

KeenReader | 1 comments Can I suggest Miss Chopsticks by Xinran?
Xinran was born in China and lived there until she was an adult. I enjoyed her first book The Good Women of China: Hidden Voices and Sky Burial: An Epic Love Story of Tibet. I think she writes well and although "Miss Chopsticks" is a novel, I think it will give us a glimpse of aspects of Chinese life and culture. It's also available in plenty of formats (book, audio, kindle) and it should be available in libraries.

Book: Life in Faceless World
Author: Cyril Mukalel

Fiction ‘Life in a Faceless World,’ attempts to build bridges between diverse groups and eliminate the invisible fences we have created around us.

Nila’s story explores what it means to be a voyager through the unknown, an immigrant in a land of immigrants, each vying for a place and a home. It speaks to a connection while baring the soul of the global society we have created.
