Danita L (ladygoshawke) | 653 comments Sandra - I think you combined them all with the editions of "Oh, Lost: A Story of the Buried Life" text created/edited by Arlyn and Matthew J. Bruccoli (Editors).

I'm not sure they should be combined. "Oh, Lost" is the original text of "Look Homeward, Angel" before editor Maxwell Perkins, the editor at Charles Scribner's Sons, originally cut the typescript by 22 percent and published it in 1929. Sixty-six thousand words were omitted for reasons of propriety and publishing economics, as well as to remove material deemed expendable by Perkins.

The unedited established text version was 'created' by Arlyn and Matthew J. Bruccoli from the original typewritten manuscript adding back the sixty-six thousand words, editing 'errors' in the 1929 publication and was not published until October, 2000.

These editions below are the "O Lost" editions and should be separated from the Scribner published version.

This edition needs to have Arlyn and Matthew J. Bruccoli added as editiors and separated to that version with the title changed as well.

NOTE: The following editions definitely have a problem as to which version they are. If they are the text published by Scribner in 1929, then they have the wrong covers because that cover denotes the "O Lost" version. Maybe the titles need to be changed. :(

And then there is this edition:

O Lost: A Story of the Buried Life (original version of Look Homeward, Angel)

The cover and description seems to be published as "Look Homeward, Angel". But the title is listed as "O Lost". Maybe change the title to the "Look Homeward, Angel" edition as the cover indicates?

Sandra | 22730 comments The original text of O Lost should be combined, the same way we combine different translations of works.

I'll have a look at the rest of your post soon, as we've just lost power here and I'm closing down my computer so I don't use up my battery.

Feel free to pm me if I don't get back to it by tomorrow.

Sandra | 22730 comments Added the editors to the book mentioned.

The books referred to in the note:
1 - 4: Title & cover imported from amazon. Book cover denotes both O Lost & Look Homeward Angel & the editors names so not the 1929 version. Title changed to both as both are on the cover.

Lastly, changed title & removed review from description.
