Dan Schwent (akagunslinger) It would be perfect if it was growing out of a coffee mug.

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments God bless the ficus that grows thru the crack.
They roll the concrete over it to try and keep it back.
The concrete gets tired of what it has to do,
It breaks and it buckles and the ficus grows thru,
And God bless the ficus.

Félix (habitseven) Amen, sister.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

A new picture, and a poem. The ficus rules.

Félix (habitseven) Ah.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Heidi, that thread only has 30 messages. Confused!!!

message 16: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Maybe she means message 17.5. Or 1.75.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments I like the ficus, but I miss our train station terminal. We could have the ficus IN the terminal, like this:

message 18: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Oh, that is f--king brilliant. You are forgiven for your tootsie roll heresy.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments I'm so relieved, RA.

I do like Tootsie Pops...

OH NO, JACKIE! Your glasses must be foggy because The Sneezing Panda thread has 180 posts. ? :-o

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Oh! I see what's going on - the link takes me to the first 30 messages of the thread, and says it's showing me messages 1-30, and I didn't scroll down to see the REST of the messages.

Sorry, Heidi, I need lunch, I guess...

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments WHY CAN'T IT BE A BONZAI TREE... OR A DOGWOOD... OR A LILAC TREE?!!
WHY ALWAYS A FICUS?!! :-/

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments And I see, now. You don't like the ficus, Heidi? Why not?

Don't know, Heidi. Maybe a bonsai is too small to hide Larry behind?
Lilacs give me a headache, but I'd be happy with a dogwood. Can you grow those indoors?

message 27: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Bonzai trees can grow as big as you allow them to grow. :)

message 30: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) TC is huge, as big as the great outdoors, as grand as a mountains, as sweeping as the steppes of central Asia. Room aplenty for the mighty Ficus-pid, Venus Fly Trap, and maybe a Cactus?

message 31: by Heidi (last edited Sep 01, 2009 03:34PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My favorite trees are

the Japanese Tulip Tree (sometimes called "Japanese Flowering Magnolia")

and

and the Dogwood Tree. :)

message 32: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments It's really, really weird to see the Jefferson Park El stop, where I spent a lot of time as a teenager, with all these different trees.

message 33: by Heidi (last edited Sep 01, 2009 03:40PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments BUT if we can't have flowers because the pollen bugs some of you, I have to say I'm partial to the

Live Oak

Why?

message 36: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Heidi, the Oak is one of my favorites!

Can't handle the Dogwood, although they are bee-u-tiful, but make my head full of nasty marshmallows.

I think the ficus is perfect not only because of its pleasing size and shape, but because it just rolls of the tongue to say Ficus... Ficus, ficus, ficus!

Because there weren't goddamn trees on the platform when I rode the El a lot.

message 39: by Lori (new)

Lori LOL! Love all but especially the bouganville on the ceiling!

Sorry Heidi, but I think the ficus is perfect, especially added to the train station. Indoor plant, bushy, and it's the TC tradition. *sings Tradition!*

message 40: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Who determined that the ficus is a Christian??

The Buddha was enlightened under a Ficus Religiosa.

I, for one, would like the ficus to grow up and choose whatever religion it wants to follow, if it wants to follow any at all. *nods* :P

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments That's a branch of pink dogwood up by the ceiling, Lori. I potted the ficus into a coffee cup.
There's a banana plant and an orange tree if anyone gets hungry. Be careful if you want to sit on the bench - there's a cactus next to the bonsai.

message 42: by Lori (new)

Lori HAHAHAHA woe is me and my botanical stupidity!

message 43: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Women! Pshaw. Ficus has no religion. Ficus is green thing growing out of the ground. Flights of fantasy. hehehehee

message 44: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) *throws ficus dirt at Stephen*

message 45: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Bun: It's a play on the title of this thread, "God bless the ficus." :P

message 46: by Lori (new)

Lori Yeah, really. That came out of the blue.

message 47: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) *throws hands up in the air*

It was a joke.

message 48: by Lori (new)

Lori Oh is that where this came from.

And still, even if you read it like that, God doesn't exist only for Christians.

I think you are making much ado about nothing.

message 49: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Is ficus dirt magical?

message 50: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Again, women! Ficus is green thing that grows from the ground. etc. et. al., ad nauseum. hehehehehehe. Good night all.
