Penny So, I read last post about fav authors (and can't wait to try out a couple of the the titles) - I saw a significant span of authors over what I thought were several different Genres ... So, how would you define Chick Lit?

:)

I tend to think of it as a humorous, modern take on romance novels...tongue-in-cheek, with a heroine who knows how to make fun of herself (or at least, an author who can make her real, not perfect).

But my view has been changing with our book club pick this month...although I think my husband might enjoy the mystery element in Salem Falls as well as the male protagonist.

Bridget Personally, I define "Chick Lit" as a fun, "beach" read, or Sex and the City, but in book form - nothing serious, just fun - a girl about town with fun friends looking for love and adventure.

Anything that has a more serious theme/situations (Maeve Bincy, Jodi Picoult) is just plain "Fiction" to me.
