Becky | 93 comments i too loved the "teacup humans" lol

i believe the only way i could have been more disappointed with the queen is if she were a man in drag. hell that might have been better. the queen does not play YAHTZEE for christ sake! HORRIBLE !!!

and wheres andre? you dont see one without the other and they havent mentioned a casting for him.

and dont even get me started on hadley. ellie may clampett sure wasnt what was in the books.

message 5: by Cary (new)

Cary (Vortigern) Bill knows the Queen. But it's not at all clear that he is anything but an old friend. The Queen was so way different from the books. Yahtsie! LOL

Tabatha B | 14 comments Eric gets the best lines. "Good night tiny humans". "Little teacup humans". His lines always make me laugh really hard.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) | 182 comments Isn't it pretty weird that none of the erewolves have shown up yet. I mean didn't a Were help Sookie when she was kidnapped by the FOS. I wonder if they are going to introduce them at all? One show left and Eric has not shown up in the lyrca tights I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

I have a feeling we're not going to be seeing Eric in the pink lycra tights or the weres since they have changed the story up a bit. I am very disappointed about that too!

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren They will def bring in weres b/c there has already been mention of them in the show.

They've said no lycra tights for Eric which makes me super sad! Unless they changed their mind and did some last minute shots after that interview. I'm wondering if they'll try to fool Maryann into thinking Eric's her god or something so they can kill her lol.

The queen knew who Sookie was w/out Bill saying anything and Hadley started asking abt her cousin- we are def going to find out Bill was sent to see Sookie! I can't wait for Eric to find out b/c I'm sure he'll use it to his advantage. I do recognize the fact that Bill cares for Sookie now but I can't help but feel like he's a huge hypocrite. In one breathe he's scolding Eric about the blood bond when he's done the same and was probably sent to do it. I'm curious to see how they play that out.

message 10: by Christy (new)

Christy | 127 comments I loved that Eric pointed out the fact that Bill had the exact same blood bond though. Eric was really funny with Arlene's kids.

Soooo disappointed in the Tara storyline. Can her mother be any more stupid and less of a mother. I'm a mom and there's no way I'd untie her and let her go back. And Lafayette? Say it ain't so. I was hoping he was immune. Sookie? Why are you walking into that house at night, with no weapons, all alone? What exactly did she think she'd accomplish? That was dumb. And didn't she PROMISE Bill she would not step foot back in that house while he was gone. Forget about Bill betraying Sookie. Sookie breaks promises to him left and right. Sometimes sorry doesn't cut it girlfriend.

I love Sam. There's a lunatic mob after him and he's running out into the woods to save Arlene's kids. Jason was kind of a dick in this episode. He's taking his macho calling a little bit too far. But I'm glad he didn't let the zombie chick have her way with him.

I thought the Queen's "day room" was awesome, but I thought she was terrible. Not at all how I imagined her, not to mention some awful acting. And isn't Hadley supposed to be dark and boyish?

Poor Jessica!!!

CindyToo | 107 comments If Andre doesn't exist in TB, how do we get the Sookie/Eric blood bond?

Also, I suspect Bill told SA that the night the Rats attacked Sookie was the night they first met, saving his male pride by leaving out that he let a couple of red-necked v addicts jump him and nearly drain him until Sookie came to *his* rescue. And it was SA who told Eric...

message 14: by Cary (last edited Aug 31, 2009 10:31AM) (new)

Cary (Vortigern) There already is a Sookie Eric blood bond and a Lafayette Eric blood bond. The show is moving at a much faster pace than the books. Changing and deliting out characters from the book, and adding a few new ones to the show. There wont be any Ziegeberts or Andre at all I don't think. Man that was so cold when Karl took that bullet in the head, and Marryanne looked down and said something like " Oh well he has servered his purpose anyway". I can't wait to see Sookie put the zap on Marryanne.

i am pretty upset with bill. i was a fan of trueblood before i even knew they were based off of books, so i just started reading the novels. they are awesome! i am about 2/3rds done with club dead. bill is a jerk, someone tell me he redeems himself. no details though!!!

message 24: by Sarah (last edited Aug 31, 2009 05:28PM) (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments How the heck are they going to get out of this mess???

I hope Bill's trip to the Queen proves fruitful, 'cause I sure was tappin' my foot while they were playing Yahtzee. And Sophie Anne? Yck! She's so frivolous and over-the-top. I ♥ Evan Rachel Wood, but I think she's not right as the Queen; or, perhaps it's just the way they've written her role. Whatever it is, it seems all wrong. Maybe it'll be better next week.

Lettie Mae did exactly what I expected her to do under the circumstances. She's a terrible mother and she's desperate to make amends with her daughter for that. So, she does something to prove that she cares, but she's really just being a terrible mother. And, the cycle continues....

I really wish Sookie and Lafayette hadn't gone after Tara, but what were they gonna do after getting the gun away from Lettie Mae? I was disappointed in Sookie for breaking her promise to Bill that she wouldn't go near the house, but when you think about it, Lafayette made no such promise and Sookie'd never let him go alone.

I thought Eric looked fetching in Lettie Mae's clothes. That almost makes up for the lack of lycra/spandex...almost.

When Jason said that he'd "read about this in a book", I didn't think he meant World War Z ! That was effing hilarious, but that was about it for him in this episode. Normally, I just laugh at Jason's malapropisms and faulty logic, but I'm starting to think he needs to be gagged and tied up somewhere until the danger in Bon Temps passes. At least he's bonding with Andy.

I'm impressed that Sam "came out" to Jason and Andy; that took guts. And, he went out into the woods after Arlene's kids and asked Eric for help.

Questions for final episode (aside from my general one at the beginning):

1. Sam's still hasn't shifted into anything "very large" this season. What will he become? A large feline? Cats and Dionysus don't exactly get along. Or, maybe he'll find a picture of Dionysus and "imprint" - fake everyone out? I wonder if gods are less complex for him than humans. :-)

2. Will Jason (and Andy) f*ck everything up?

3. Does Sophie Anne tell Eric about Bill's initial motive for getting to know Sookie? I mean, will the viewers hear her say it?

4. Who dies? And perhaps more importantly, will we have to wait until next season to figure it out?

I could be wrong but as I recall, Sookie does take Eric's blood during sex in the fourth book. I have the book on my Kindle, but it's out of power right now, so I can't look it up until it charges. :-(

LMAO I totally forgot about the Lycra pants! Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed too!

I wasn't a fan of the Queen either, she's suppose to be very regal, I pictured her to be like Godric (sp?) in personality and tone, very old and wise, calm. This is like Jessica, all excited and new. And Hadley is alive and very ungothic like the book makes her out to be. Elle May Clampett is a perfect way to sum up how they made her Becky, good call.

The Jessica and Hoyt break was soooo sad! I love her character and she was doing so well with being new and all. UGH I hope he forgives her. I don't think they'll she her again until next season, that's one cliff hanger. Then the werewolves will be next season too I bet ya.

Sarah - the 4th is my favorite too! I love Eric...I think I'm going to re-read it just for the Eric action! lol

This was a crazy, funny and cliff hanger episode that actually lasted the full hour! yay

...nope, I guess I'm getting Dead to the World mixed up with Dead and Gone. Easy enough to do when you read them all too quickly. :-)

message 31: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Sookie has Eric's blood in Dallas when removing the bullet, in Club Dead in bed, in All Together Dead which seals the deal, and in the latest book.

Eric has her blood during the maenad healing, then in Dallas when he's cleaning the glass from her arm, in Dead to World during sex, then when Mickey comes to the apartment and hits him with a rock...I think that's it, though I might be missing one along the way. I made a list somewhere, but I'm too lazy to root around for it!

message 32: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) A good episode overall, even if it's mostly set-up for the finale.

Finale. ::sniffle::

Bill's face while he's dealing with the Queen is hilarious. He looks so uncomfortable and awkward the entire time he's there.

Evan Rachel Wood certainly looks great in her Hollywood glam. By the end of the episode, I'd warmed up to her portrayal a bit, even though she started out feeling very high school play (as someone else described it). She's certainly NOTHING like the book, nor is Hadley. But I do like her day room.

Um, Jason read a book? I guess zombie war handbooks and para-military training didn't prepare him for renegade TREES.

Anna, as Sookie, was much better in this episode. Again I saw a glimpse of how I perceived the character while reading.

I have to ask, why didn't Sookie wonder where her brother went? Maybe call him as backup for Dumbass Operation Rescue Tara?

Her description of what was happening in Tara's head was pretty interesting, and I LOVED the convo between Sookie and Lafayette about their Eric dreams.

I just adore these scenes with Eric in other people's clothes. Not only does it give us a taste of Lafayette's terror, but seeing Eric in a blouse was hysterical. And his arms looked oddly dainty.

Tara summoned Maryanne?! I do not know how I feel about that. Or if I truly understand it.

Poor Hoyt. All the dreams of the little boy in those pictures just got shot down. Momma wanted sex. Hoyt held her back. Daddy was a closet homosexual and committed suicide. Somehow I think after learning all that, he might have to turn to Jessica for support after all.

Eric lounges beautifully, doesn't he? Pam's face when Eric mentions Sookie is PRICELESS. She looks so utterly exasperated with him.

Sookie laying down on the floor with Mike was just bizarre and skeevatz. Until she flash fried him. THAT was great.

Eric primping and fixing his windswept locks. Thank you, Eric, for pointing out the whole "but if Sookie had Bill's blood..." scenario that we've all been questioning!

Jason's tricks on scoring women: Work out and watch lots of porn and learn stuff. Works for him!

What the hell is that big EGG???

September 13! ARGH!

"He went on a vacation to Jesus."

"Teacup humans."

"I vill have a sex with you."
"That will NOT be necessary."

"This town might be full of crazy rednecks, and dumbasses, but they're still Americans, Andy."

Jessica `~Blahyze~` Teacup humans.... that line is COMPLETE GENIUS. The writers ARE AMAZING.

message 35: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments Michelle M. wrote: "What the hell is that big EGG???"

The egg is a part of the Dionysian cult; it's importance depends on which story you ascribe to it. My personal favorite is a Greek story.

Dionysus, like Aphrodite, is considered a kthonic (or "chthonic") god, which loosely means "of the earth". Kthonic gods, in some myths, existed before the rest of the Olympian gods and went through a process of "rebirthing" to become integrated into Greek religion.

One story of how Dionysus came to be worshipped by the Greeks says that Athena rescues his heart (still beating) from his body, which has perished in battle. Like a good daughter, Athena takes the heart to Zeus, who promptly eats it.

Here's the part with the egg where I'm a bit fuzzy: Inside Zeus, the heart combines with an egg that Zeus ingested when he ate his father, (who ate his father, etc.) that came from one of his ancestors.

Then, Zeus does what he does best. He impregnates Semele with the egg, and she, in turn, gives birth (or rebirth) to Dionysus.

As far as the egg itself goes, I seem to remember there was something to do with serpents and the egg. I may just be remembering that because snakes are associated with Dionysus - it's the whole phallic symbol angle: snakes, the thyrsos, etc.

message 36: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Interesting. Just looked it up and the heart, etc. is the Cretan version, which I don't think I ever read! I learned the sewn into thigh version. Thanks for the heads up, Sarah!

message 37: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) And if they're pulling from Crete, the inclusion of the bull imagery makes more sense. Still a bit of a jumble, but I was wondering what link there would be other than Dion picking up Ariadne.

Meredith Barrons | 22 comments Did anyone else crack up when Jason told Andy to stop "cock blocking" him? HA HA. "Teacup" humans was classic, but I wasn't thrilled about the fact that Eric had to comment on them being "tasty". The fact that he has fed on children makes Eric seem worse.

message 40: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) It does. Especially since Pam does NOT deem them tasty, so I guess not all vamps find them yum. Another thing that separates him from book Eric!

message 41: by Cary (last edited Sep 01, 2009 07:20AM) (new)

Cary (Vortigern) Bill would never feed on a child. Bill was very gentle with the children. I really like the way Bill is always thoughtful about the other people. Bill did not even want to drink the blood of the Queens slave. I was glad he broke down and got himself a little treat however.

I think they are both interesting characters in TrueBlood. So to me it's not a contest. If I was going to be on any team it would be team Lafayette. I really hope they get him back in character next season.

message 44: by Sarah (last edited Sep 01, 2009 10:48PM) (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments RE: Eric feeding on tiny humans

I don't think AB meant to imply that TB Eric feeds or has fed on children, especially since the tastiness of babies, children, and virgins to vampires was mentioned in the first season. I felt that Eric reminding Pam that children are delicious was just his way of joking with her - teasing her because her overt hatred for children is, perhaps, not the typical first response of a badass vampire to such tasty little morsels. It's the same thing with the shoes; Eric knows how to push Pam's buttons.

RE: teams

I get that a lot of folks have a preference for one Sookie pairing over another one, but could we come up with a different word besides "team" to describe it? I'm starting to feel like TEAM SO-AND-SO sounds too much like a term Twilight fans (of which I am one, to be fair) would use. So, here are some alternatives, courtesy of Roget:

affiliate, aggregation, army, assemblage, assortment, band, blob, body, bunch, caboodle, clan, club, company, contingent, corps, crew, ensemble, faction, flock, force, gang, group, horde, league, lineup, organization, outfit, pack, party, posse, quantity, sect, set, side, span, squad, string, troop, unit

We wouldn't have to settle on one word. Personally, I'm partial to aliterations:

ALCIDE ASSORTMENT
BILL BLOB
CALVIN CABOODLE
ERIC ENSEMBLE
QUINN QUANTITY
SAM SQUAD

These may sound more like band names or spoofs on Robert Ludlum novels, but anything's better than "team". :-)

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments Michelle M. - just finished watching it again; here are some more for ya (some only funny in context):

BUD DEARBORN (sans pants, calling square dance w/ Andy): "Make a wrong way thar, and you pickle up a doodle in the middle of the star."

SAM (to Lisa about her daddy's "Arlene" tattoo): "Well he must of loved her a lot, 'cause you know that hurt."

KEVIN (to Jason, while pointing a gun at the back of his head): "What's the game with the one bullet in the gun and you don't know if it'll go off or not? Is that Chinese fire drill?"

MRS. FORTENBERRY (to Hoyt about his daddy): "That man just liked to dance more than a normal man should."

ARLENE (to Lafayette and Sookie): "The fine is a hundred MILLION dollars...and your pants!"

JASON (to Andy): "You think Sam could turn into a chicken and lay his own egg?"

message 46: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Lol. The laying his own egg line was great. As was Lafayette calling Arlene and Terry "Here, chickie chickie." and chucking pills at them.

message 47: by Cary (new)

Cary (Vortigern) I loved that scene too. Lafayette threw a bag of crystal meth at them first and then lured them along with his bag of pills. I love the crazy stuff Laffayette is always saying and doing. He is easily one of the most interesting charecters on the show.
