Hi! I'm new around here and not a very active member, but I love to read, particularly YA. I wrote my Master's thesis on Harry Potter and I work as a literary translator. I hope to have more time in the future to participate in the discussions.
Heather, I used to work in a pharmaceutical library and I have to say I find YA reading a lot more fun to read :)
Hi. My name is Barb and I live in San Diego. I've recently discovered a love of YA, especially in audio format. I loved Runemarks by Joanne Harris, The Looking Glass Wars, Brisingr, and of course Twilight (that one I read). But YA books often include symbolism and fantasy, which is the perfect setting for audiobooks, because what you get is akin to a theatrical production. I love that!
Welcome! I am about to listen to my first audio book this week! I am going to listen to a short story while I drive... I am thinking it is going to be good!
Hey everyone! My name is Ashley Lee, and I just love YA fiction. Technically I am not a young adult anymore, but I just think that some of the most creative storylines come from these books!
Hi! My name is Kristen and I currently work in a school library in a building that has 5th and 6th graders. I love YA books, some that I don't think are appropriate for my 5th and 6th graders.. so I end up frequenting my public library for more YA fixes. I love fantasy the most in the YA series but will pick up mostly anything if it is strongly recommended. I don't think I'll ever stop reading YA books - even if I didn't work in a school library.
Oh that's sad! I'm actually an aide right now finishing my library endorsement and there are a ton of jobs open in my area.. of course there are also a lot of jobs being cut too.. so I may have some big competition.
I'm Melody, I'm 12. I live in ruralish Pennsylvania, and yes, I know ruralish is not a word :-P. I love reading... oh, I have so many favorite books and authors. I love Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain, and I'm entering a cake decorating contest with a cake decorated as the Banner of the White Pig. Ooh, and Gail Carson Levine is wonderful.
Melody, I love the word ruralish...I once lived in a ruralish town in PA too! Good luck in the contest!

I loved the first three and I have the fourth waiting for me on hold at the library. They're really great fantasy books.
Was looking for other fans of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak -I found a great video review of the book here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htLOoT...Would love to know what you thought of it!
Yossarian, There's a lot of The Book Thief reviews and chats here at Goodreads. It's also been read by many of the book clubs here at Goodreads.
Mark from Dallas, Texas here. I am a YA author who just finished writing a novel that will be coming out soon called The Heroes of Nightingale. If you want to read the first chapter you can at http://www.scribd.com/doc/13718442/Th...
We actually have read the Book Thief as a group read before. You can read through our discussions and add your own thought if you like!
Hi everyone! My name is Tami and I am also an aspiring YA author. I'm currently working on a YA book in he said/she said point of view called Lost and Found. The first draft is finished and I'm now going through my critique groups notes. I hope to have it finished to start querying by summertime. I blog with a few of my critique partners here: http://yaedge.blogspot.com/ Stop by and say hi!
I also run the YAedge Book Club here: http://yaedgebookclub.blogspot.com/ Anyone can participate and we are now in our second month (starting April 1) and will be reading The Dust of 100 Dogs.
Basically, I love all types of YA. Some of my favorite authors are Maureen Johnson, Sarah Dessen, John Green, Markus Zusak...the list goes on. I'm currently reading Undone by Brooke Taylor.
I look forward to reading our April selection and discussing it! I ran out this past weekend and picked it up. It gave me an excuse to buy another book. You should have seen the look on my husband's face. LOL
Anyway, thanks for letting me be a part of the group/discussions!
Hi everyone, I'm Ilana! I homeschool, I'm fifteen and I love to read and write. Goodreads has become one of my obsessions... I love books almost too much, but I don't think that's possible.
I love books too... I am on a trip right now and packed a suitcase with 4 books that I don't even know if I will get to!

Hi,Love the group. I am the author of "Kandide and the Secret of the Mists," (it is an Amazon.com bestseller) and the first book in the trilogy. Love to get feedback from any one who has read it.
Diana
I'd like to know more about this new book. I was wondering if you could specify what it's plot is based on. I'm looking for a new series to read that is . . . well out of the box that I normally read in. :)K. Marie M.

Hi, My name is Lynne and I am a middle school math teacher. I love all types of books but during the school year when I have little time to read, YA fiction is good for me because they tend to be quicker reads.I chose to join this group because I have already finished the "Lightening Thief" and "I am the Messenger" and I look forward to the discussion of them. They are both great books (though totally different) and I think you are all in for a real treat!
Hi. I am Sonja and I am the host of Bookwink.com, a video booktalk website for kids. I am a total book-eater and when I'm not reading books, there is nothing I love more than to talk about books. Well, except maybe chocolate. My recent favorites reads are The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Both amazing books that I am recommending to everyone I know!
Hi! My name is Paula Froelich -- i am a gossip columnist in NYC... and although i have a women's fiction novel coming out in June (mercury in Retrograde) - i can always be found curled up with a good YA book too! For good reason - am working on one called "Grits" about growing up a jew in cincinnati ohio and attending a catholic convent in kentucky. I got the title because we used to be such ohio snobs and call people from KY "grits" which meant redneck. Ironically, i became one. heh. Otherwise, I live alone in Soho with my fabulous wonder dog, Karl Froelich (dachshund), who hates everyone but me (i think its part of his charm!).
I just found this website and am psyched to be here!
Paula wrote: "Hi! Welcome to the group.

I even put him on the cover of my next book, Mercury in retrograde. heh.
Angie wrote: "Welcome guys! Your dog sounds wonderful Paula! "Thanks -- he is a little character. he just got done with a hunger strike (i stupidly gave him a rib eye bone last week and he wasnt eating dog food till he got another. Thankfully, hunger won out as the rib eye bone was the result of an expensive dinner someone else paid for!)

I really enjoy Goodreads too. I have discovered books that I would've NEVER read otherwise.
PS I love gossip columns! And I love the cover to your novel.

Hey im mikaeala... I love to read... ive read all of last years senoir division... ALLL AMAZING (but life as we knew it was depressing :( hahaha)
I am a high school librarian, which means I can read for fun at home and tell my husband I'm working! I've rarely met a book I didn't like. I have a 14-month-old son and a 10-year-old stepdaughter. My 10yo prefers graphic novels, comics, funny books, & "something with adventure", while my son is really into The Very Hungry Caterpillar at the moment.I love reading YA lit and sharing it with my students. You can look at my profile to see some of the stuff I've read. Usually my favorite book is the one I just finished :)

This is a wonderful group. Everyone is helpful and the discussions are great. Your job sounds great!
Hi! My name's Kite, and I recently turned 18 years old. I've never had a job and prefer to spend my time reading or writing instead. This fall, I plan on attending U of M with a major in structural civil engineering, which means I get to be the one who builds roads, bridges, dams, and all that good stuff!
