Alrighty, folks! I was thinking of making separate challenges for diversity and breast cancer awareness month for October, but then I thought "Why make a bunch of tiny challenges when you can combine them into one big one that's more challenging?" And then I thought "Wow, you're right, that's much better. I'm so smart."

*clears throat* Anyways... I've basically combined the two challenges I was going to have and added a few more for fun. There are six parts of this challenge you can participate in; you can do all six or just one or anything in between, depending on what you are planning to read for the month.

That said, here are your options:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ~ read a book with a pink cover OR read a book that deals with the subject of breast cancer specifically

Black History Month (UK) ~ pretty open-ended; you can read historical fiction about hella rad things black people did, you can read a book with a main character who is black, you can read a book about slavery, etc. This topic will come back in February for US folks, so if you can't now, you can participate then!

National Chocolate Day and US and Chocolate Week in UK ~ read a cute contemporary romance!

IT'S FREAKING HALLOWEEN GUYS! ~ read something scary!

October 11th is National Coming Out Day ~ read a book that deals with the coming-out part of being LGBTQIA+

October 10th is World Mental Health Day ~ pretty self-explanatory; read a book with a main character who has any kind of mental illness - just please try to choose books that will NOT portray them offensively :)

You can easily get some ideas by searching up keywords on Listopia or exploring genres. The Coming Out one is pretty easy since most queer books deal with coming out - just read the description to make sure :)

When you have decided on your books, you can post them in this format:

October Challenge TBR

♥ [insert category here] - [insert book link here]
♥ [repeat the pattern above for as many books as you plan to read :)]

Books Read

[when you have read a book from your above selection, you may post its cover here]

You can read one book that combines two themes if you want to (ex: cute contemporary + black main character) or read more than one book for one category, but you can not choose to read a book that you have already read and want to re-read. The point of this challenge is to discover new books!

Alright, so you have until October to post your TBR here and cannot edit it after the end of this month. You can post as many or as little books as you want to read. If you don't get to read them, it's alright; you can read them later ;)
So, go ahead and start posting!
