This is what msn.com says are the healthiest foods on earth, anyway. Sadly, tang/chang are not included...

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i thought pine nuts were.

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Yay! I eat all of those things! Except for the meat. And try as I might, I can't kick the sugar habit.

message 4: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i like meat with sugar on it

message 6: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I eat all of those except for whole eggs (if I can help it - no yolks, allergy... duh) and whole milk. I drink 2% lactose free. :) And I don't eat much red meat... I'm more of a fan of feesh and cheeken and turkeh.

message 7: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Feesh? Caatfeesh?

message 8: by Heidi (last edited Aug 28, 2009 09:37AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments OMG, YES!!!... My fave is grilled, baked, fried, soupified, poached. I like catfish, tilapia, orange roughy, red snapper, salmon, tuna, haibut, trout, mahi mahi (on the rare occasion), and sea bass (also on the rare occasion).

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Salmon is my favorite fish. Last night we had salmon with a local vendor's 'Island Mango Butter' concoction. Good stuff.
Tuna and mahi mahi are next best in my book...I'm not as much a fan of white fishies, but they can be good.

I love the fish rebranding that has occured to get us to eat more mahi mahi (and destroy the sea bass population).
Would you be as apt to order mahi mahi if it were called dolphin fish?
And a Chiliean sea bass is really a Patagonian toothfish.

message 10: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Halibut is extra scrumptious.

I used to eat a lot of haddock -- but it has become rare due to over-fishing.

message 11: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments The only large feesh I won't eat is cod. I am not a fan.

I'm also not a fan of the smaller feesh like anchovies and sardines.

I don't know if I've ever tried haddock.

Sarah Pi, I LOOOOVE tuna. And I LOOOOOVE mahi mahi, but I try to not eat it as much as I'd like to because it seems unPC to eat dolphin since they're so smart and stuff. I knew about the Chilean Sea Bass. They don't have much around here, but when I go home to Houston, my mom will occasionally pick some up at the store - they have great fish selection in the fishmarket area of the grocery stores there. Here... not so much (except catfish).

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments I've been eating a lot of blackberries lately. Right off the vine. Waaaay organic. :)

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Don't worry about the mahi mahi -- it's a dolphinfish, not a dolphin. Hence the creative marketing.

Blackberries off the vine? Yum.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Salmon is my favorite fish, followed by fresh Lake perch and then fresh Walleye

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Maybe walleye needs a new name and marketing campaign too.

Sarah Pi wrote: "Maybe walleye needs a new name and marketing campaign too. "

A new name would certainly help with the marketing.

message 17: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Walleye is heavenly eating. I don't care what you call it.

message 18: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Number Two: Sea Bass.
Dr. Evil: [pause:] Right.
Number Two: They're mutated sea bass.
Dr. Evil: Are they ill tempered?
Number Two: Absolutely.
Dr. Evil: Oh well, that's a start.

I agree wholeheartedly.

message 20: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Can you even buy "raw, organic" milk or am I associating that with unpasteurized milk?

I don't like the taste of milk but when I was in Nepal, my friend's family bought milk straight from a farm and it was delicious. It's a shame it's illegal to do that in the US.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments You can buy raw milk, but it is hard to come by.

message 22: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments or you can just buy a cow

message 23: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Thanks, Bun. I didn't know that: I just googled and apparently Ohio is a "raw milk battleground." I know that an Amish farmer was recently taken to court because he sold some raw milk to an undercover agent. It makes NO sense to outlaw raw milk in Ohio because we have such a high number of Amish farmers.

message 24: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Here's a story that gets into some of it:

http://www.citypaper.com/news/story.a...

I usually settle for pasteurized, antibiotic free, local. I love the ritual of trading empty bottle for full bottle on Saturday mornings.

Fun fact: You can't make cheese with ultrapasteurized milk.

Félix (habitseven) Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "or you can just buy a cow"

I just traded the cow for some magic beans.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments when raw milk is outlawed, only outlaws will have raw milk

Last night, we made salmon, brussel sprouts, whole wheat cous cous with goat cheese, corn and peas, and a milktart, which is a tasty South African dessert. I am so excited to go home and eat leftovers for dinner.

message 29: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments I searched "save the cheese".
:)

message 30: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments I was hoping for some cartoon mice armed with forks, to be honest.

Stephen (stephenT) There is something fishy about this entire conversation.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Just made a batch of Garlic tomatoes and salsa, good health eating in the near future!

message 42: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I'm on my way. Do you have those blue corn chips too? I'll bring some Flounder if I can find it. Flounder is hard to come by in Kentucky.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Just bring beer!
