If you have any tips to get past writers block, making charaters, or anything else, post them here so all of us can use them. Please don't discuss them here, so we can just scroll through and read just tips

Manahil | 16 comments always stick to your point and write short and crisp stories-well thats what my teacher says-

Ruby~am I a part of the cure? (openupyoureyes) TIPTOP for paragraphs:
T= time
P= Place
T= topic
P= person
the I and O have nothing. Use paragraph so that Ppl can read your writing by digesting it slowly in chunks. - by my english teacher...

message 13: by Nada (new)

Nada | 6 comments A good author (Brigid) once said that writers block doesn't exist, its just a lack of motivation or confidence with writing (I read it on her blog I think its true!)

message 14: by Den (last edited Aug 30, 2009 12:19AM) (new)

Den (den_) Don't use a cardboard cut out villian. :P Create a good reason for doing what he does and make him easier to relate to. The most interesting villians I've read about are the ones I can understand and who have good qualities also. ^^

message 15: by Den (last edited Aug 29, 2009 11:58PM) (new)

Den (den_) Oh, and a background for a villian is nice along with some side characters.

message 16: by Den (last edited Aug 30, 2009 12:21AM) (new)

Den (den_) And also, make the first page interesting in some way. People often decide if they're going to buy a book by the first page. :I

message 17: by Nada (new)

Nada | 6 comments Good advice, Flicky! Especially the about good villians :)

message 18: by Den (new)

Carter | 131 comments Mod
Thanks for saying my group is awesome. Joelle what is a plot ninja? I want a pocket ninja!!!!!lol

message 39: by Den (new)

Den (den_) Lol...math hamsters... :) Ok, tips.. :I

Don't try too hard to be original. No story is original and the people who try to hard often make things worse. Also, make your side characters different from each other, they may not be the main character but they're still important and can definitely help make the story.

message 40: by Den (new)

Den (den_) Err...I kinda just wrote a paper about drugs being my inspiration then...

message 41: by Den (new)

Den (den_) I wrote about how two years ago I was describing old Coke to my mother to make her sick and then she said I should put it on paper. :I

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

make sure u stick to any details from other parts of ur writing, like the month, or a name, or a brand, etc or else it gets confusing

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

and use lots of synonyms!! dont use the same words over and over make the words interesting!

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

a plot ninja is something relatively random that you work into your writing to give you inspiration

ex. coffee, stream, wet feet, et cetera

message 45: by Kriss (new)

Kriss (krisslee) | 22 comments Hehe... Sooo thats what a plot ninja is... Well I have a lot of them... Coffee!

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)
