Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Mmm... Synthpop... Good luck finding a book with that in the title, but if you do, you should listen to Shiny Toy Guns... I love "You Are the One" and "Starts With One"... and "Don't Cry Out"... *goes and gets her CD*

Angie (angelitabonita) I know Mambo is a type of dance but is it also considered a type of music? I'm Cuban and I'd say yes, what do you all think?

message 5: by Sara ♥ (last edited Aug 26, 2009 11:07PM) (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments I would say so. I remember that my grandma's organ had buttons for different types of music, and when you pushed them, it would play a generic beat/song of that type of music. One of them was mambo. Good stuff. Love the rhythm!

EDIT: Wikipedia agrees with us: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mambo_(music)

Cuban music. Well, you're Cuban, so I'd say you're the expert!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 306 comments NICE! Love Shiny Toy Guns! Le Disko came on in my car the other day when my ipod was on shuffle and I got REAL excited!

I realized a book I had on my shelf would work for this:

The Hypocrisy of Disco A Memoir

Krista (kacey14) Sarah wrote: "So would The Cross-Country Quilters count?"

Using 'Country' as the music genre?

message 12: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 144 comments I was told by Cynthia in the questions area that protest music would be a genre. I am reading The Protest Singer An Intimate Portrait of Pete Seeger since I didn't get to it during the summer challenge.
