So back to my questions... How you felt after reading that letter ?
And at the end!!

I realized that Mabel, (that was the name, no?) even though she wanted to live, she cared for Molly. She wanted her to live as well and not just end it all. It was sweet really. I really loved this part of the letter:

I think you created me to help you. You would have killed yourself. And back then, I thought I was saving myself but I was really saving you. The one person I put before me. I guess I never really had a choice, but in the end I was happy to do it.

And I really like the way it ended. Molly had decided she could do it all be herself. She would live. She deserved to live.:)

Yeah... It was very emotional... When she said goodbye...

But I felt the author didn't justify the reason for Mabel's existence

I think it was justified..a bit confusing (to me at least), but there.
When Molly wanted to die.. to kill herself, when she had almost killed herself, that's when Mabel came into existence. Because some part of her, the happy part, wanted to live. Remember that bit where it says that Molly started to divide herself in two parts? One for all the happiness, the other for sadness. That is how she came to exist. Mable was the happy part.
