Raskolnikoff’s illness/madness/swooning reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart. His guilty conscience is eating him up. And why in the world did he go back to the scene of the crime!? And admitted that he had seen the pool of blood on the floor. At this point he just wants to be caught. I’m going to assume that he will incriminate himself soon and will be found out.
Then we see our old friend Marmeladoff again but I’m still wondering what role he and his family are playing in this story. They seem randomly injected into each Part but have nothing to do with the crime.

People always used to say that "the criminal always returns to the scene of the crime." I wonder if this is the book that first showed people this idea.
Years ago I was into classic movies and I loved to see the scenes that ended up becoming famous lines. Most are also famous movies but some weren't. "We've got to stop meeting like this" started (I believe) in a little known film from the early 1930's, and it's been in scores of films and tv shows since then.

I used to watch classic films from the AFI’s Top 100 Movies and I loved seeing all those original lines and moments that were referenced in future movies! The Graduate, The Godfather, Citizen Kane, all come up constantly in pop culture so I’m glad I watched all those old flicks.
