Summary

A KIDNAPPED LITTLE GIRL LOCKED IN A STRANGER'S VAN. NO HELP FOR MILES. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Darby Thorne is a college student stranded by a blizzard at a highway rest stop in the middle of nowhere. She’s on the way home to see her sick mother. She’ll have to spend the night in the rest stop with four complete strangers. Then she stumbles across a little girl locked inside one of their parked cars.

There is no cell phone reception, no telephone, no way out because of the snow, and she doesn’t know which one of the other travelers is the kidnapper. Who is the little girl? Why has she been taken? And how can Darby save her? Full of shocking twists and turns, this beautifully written novel will have you on the edge of your seat.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) I finished my book and I really liked it and I think that book should be made into a movie

Summer (paradisecity) | 37 comments This was a twisty little book and I enjoyed the double cross and the idea of a siege in the middle of a snowstorm (it reminded me of Assault on Precinct 13; love that movie). I think it had a few too many twist endings, though, and the violence started to feel a little torture porn-y as the endings racked up. And I wish Ed made it out with the girls.

Yovonne | 1 comments Finished this a couple days ago!! What a ride!! Stopped halfway through and went to bed guessing, I knew I was going to have to finish it the next day!! I wish the ending had a little more follow up with the characters. Did the police officer survive?? And we never got to meet the sister. Can’t wait to see a possible movie adaption.

Terry Candee | 27 comments I really liked this book with never ending surprises and excitement. Darby realizing she was scheming to save Jay with,...oops the actual kidnapper! They're safe, they're not safe! How each of the 3 people involved in the kidnapping are uncovered over several chapters. The violence is rough but not extreme. How many various items are used as weapons. How Darby bravery becomes stronger and stronger. Ripping her finger off in the door hinge, OUCH!!!
I also loved the ending where it seems Darby died. Quote: "They found her frozen body" Actually her freezing of her body probably saved her life. The metabolism slows and u go into shock which preserves vital organs. Then it turns out they are all at the mother's, Maya's, grave and Darby is collecting the grave stone pattern on the rice paper. She survived!!!
Now i'm going to have to see the movie on HULU!
The trailer looks fantastic!

It's pouring rain today so think I'll find the movie on Hulu.

Terry Candee | 27 comments The movie has some major differences but is very good. Of course the book is better, as always.
