I'm only on page 136 of Vineland, so no spoilers please!
Anyway, I'm noticing a lot of similarities in Vineland between the character of DL and "The Bride" from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films. I can't dig up any comments from Tarantino on Pynchon. Anyone heard otherwise? Is this just coincidence, or do you think Vineland was a definite influence for Tarantino?
I really don't think that QT has the patience to read "Vineland"...maybe the similarities that you see(and I don't think that they are unfounded)are the result of both men being saturated in Pop Culture and using it( both intentionally and otherwise)in their work...
On that note, can anyone name a film, TV series, or other form of yesterday's pop culture media featuring a young American woman becoming a deadly ninja for hire?
